22 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?
10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
12 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
22 And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.
34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.
40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,
46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.
55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.
60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.
61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.
64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.
66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

Judas to Betray Jesus

The Passover with the Disciples
7 (I)Then came (J)the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 So Jesus[a] sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it.” 9 They said to him, “Where will you have us prepare it?” 10 He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house that he enters 11 and tell the master of the house, (K)‘The Teacher says to you, Where is (L)the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 And he will show you (M)a large upper room furnished; prepare it there.” 13 And they went and found it (N)just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
Institution of the Lord's Supper
14 (O)And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you I will not eat it[b] (P)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 And he took a cup, and (Q)when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. 18 (R)For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine (S)until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 (T)And he took bread, and (U)when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, (V)“This is my body, which is given for you. Who Is the Greatest?
24 (AC)A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 (AD)And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles (AE)exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 (AF)But not so with you. Rather, let (AG)the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. 27 For who is the greater, (AH)one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But (AI)I am among you as the one who serves.
28 “You are those who have stayed with me (AJ)in my trials, 29 and (AK)I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, 30 (AL)that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and (AM)sit on thrones judging (AN)the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, (AO)Satan demanded to have you,[d] (AP)that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but (AQ)I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, (AR)strengthen your brothers.” 33 Peter[e] said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both (AS)to prison and (AT)to death.” 34 (AU)Jesus[f] said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”
Scripture Must Be Fulfilled in Jesus
35 And he said to them, (AV)“When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” 36 He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. 37 For I tell you that (AW)this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: (AX)‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For (AY)what is written about me has its fulfillment.” 38 And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two (AZ)swords.” And he said to them, (BA)“It is enough.”
Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives
39 (BB)And he came out and went, (BC)as was his custom, to (BD)the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. 40 (BE)And when he came to (BF)the place, he said to them, (BG)“Pray that you may not (BH)enter into temptation.” 41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and (BI)knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, (BJ)“Father, if you are willing, remove (BK)this cup from me. (BL)Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” 43 And there appeared to him (BM)an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And (BN)being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.[g] 45 And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus
47 (BP)While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called (BQ)Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike (BR)with the sword?” 50 And one of them struck the servant[h] of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and (BS)officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 53 When (BT)I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is (BU)your hour, and (BV)the power of darkness.”
Peter Denies Jesus
54 (BW)Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house, (BX)and Peter was following at a distance. 55 (BY)And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of (BZ)the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. 56 Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58 And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” 59 And after an interval of about an hour still another (CA)insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and (CB)looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, (CC)“Before the rooster crows today, you will (CD)deny me three times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
Jesus Is Mocked
63 (CE)Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him. 64 (CF)They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, (CG)“Prophesy! (CH)Who is it that struck you?” 65 And they said many other things against him, (CI)blaspheming him.
Jesus Before the Council
66 (CJ)When day came, (CK)the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their (CL)council, and they (CM)said, 67 (CN)“If you are (CO)the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, 68 and if I ask you, you will not answer. 69 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated (CP)at the right hand of the power of God.” 70 So they all said, “Are you (CQ)the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, (CR)“You say that I am.” 71 Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”

Tiệc Thánh

Người lớn nhất giữa các ngươi phải trở nên như người non kém nhất, và người lãnh đạo phải như người phục vụ. 27 Vì giữa người ngồi ăn và người hầu bàn, ai là người lớn hơn? Há chẳng phải là người ngồi ăn sao? Nhưng ở giữa các ngươi, Ta như một người phục vụ.
28 Còn các ngươi là những người đã gắn bó trung thành với Ta giữa những cơn thử thách của Ta, 29 Ta ban cho các ngươi quyền trị vì như Cha đã ban quyền trị vì vương quốc cho Ta, 30 để các ngươi có thể ăn và uống tại bàn Ta trong vương quốc của Ta, và các ngươi sẽ ngồi trên các ngai để xét đoán mười hai chi tộc I-sơ-ra-ên.”
Chúa Báo Trước Phi-rơ Chối Ngài
(Mat 26:31-35; Mác 14:27-31; Gg 13:36-38)
31 “Hỡi Si-môn, Si-môn! Kìa Sa-tan đã đòi sàng sảy các ngươi như lúa mì. 32 Nhưng Ta đã cầu nguyện cho ngươi, để ngươi không mất đức tin. Phần ngươi, sau khi ngươi quay lại, hãy làm vững mạnh anh chị em[b] ngươi.”
33 Nhưng ông thưa với Ngài, “Lạy Chúa, con sẵn sàng đi với Ngài dù phải vào tù hay phải chết.”
34 Nhưng Ngài đáp, “Hỡi Phi-rơ, Ta nói với ngươi, hôm nay trước khi gà gáy, ngươi sẽ chối không biết Ta ba lần.”
Mang Theo Túi, Bao, và Gươm
35 Ngài nói với họ, “Khi Ta sai các ngươi ra đi, không mang theo túi tiền, bao bị, hay giày dép, nhưng các ngươi có thiếu gì không?”
Họ đáp, “Thưa không thiếu gì.”
36 Ngài nói với họ, “Nhưng bây giờ ai có túi tiền, hãy lấy mang theo; ai có bao bị, cũng làm vậy; ai không có gươm, hãy bán áo choàng và mua một thanh gươm, 37 vì Ta nói với các ngươi, lời Kinh Thánh này về Ta phải được ứng nghiệm,
‘Người đã bị liệt vào hàng kẻ phạm pháp.’

38 Họ đáp, “Lạy Chúa, này, ở đây chúng con có hai thanh gươm.”

Chúa Cầu Nguyện trên Núi Ô-liu

39 Ngài đi ra, và theo thường lệ, Ngài đi đến Núi Ô-liu, và các môn đồ cũng đi theo Ngài. 40 Khi đến nơi, Ngài nói với họ, “Hãy cầu nguyện để các ngươi không bị sa vào chước cám dỗ.” 41 Rồi Ngài đi cách xa họ khoảng chừng ném một hòn đá; Ngài quỳ xuống và cầu nguyện rằng, 42 “Lạy Cha, nếu Cha muốn, xin Cha cất chén này khỏi Con. 47 Ðang khi Ngài còn nói, kìa, một đám đông xuất hiện, có tên phản bội Giu-đa, một trong mười hai sứ đồ, dẫn đầu họ. Hắn lại gần Ðức Chúa Jesus và ôm hôn Ngài. 48 Ðức Chúa Jesus nói với hắn, “Giu-đa, ngươi dùng cái hôn để phản bội Con Người sao?”
49 Những người đang ở quanh Ngài thấy sự việc xảy ra liền hỏi, “Lạy Chúa, chúng con phải dùng gươm để đánh chăng?” 50 Một người trong nhóm họ chém đầy tớ của vị thượng tế đứt tai bên phải.
51 Nhưng Ðức Chúa Jesus trả lời và nói, “Ngừng tay lại! 54 Họ bắt Ngài, dẫn Ngài đi, và đưa Ngài đến nhà của vị thượng tế. Còn Phi-rơ, ông đi theo cách một khoảng xa xa. 55 Họ nhóm một đống lửa ở giữa sân, rồi ngồi xuống sưởi ấm với nhau. Phi-rơ cũng ngồi sưởi ấm với họ. 56 Một cô tớ gái thấy ông ngồi bên đống lửa, bèn nhìn chăm chăm vào ông, và nói, “Ông này cũng ở với ông ấy đây.”
57 Nhưng Phi-rơ chối phăng và nói, “Này bà, tôi không biết ông ấy.”
58 Một lát sau, một người khác thấy ông bèn nói, “Ông cũng là một người trong nhóm ông ấy.”
Nhưng Phi-rơ nói, “Này ông, không phải tôi đâu nhé.”
59 Khoảng một giờ sau, một người khác lại quả quyết, “Ông này đúng là người của ông ấy rồi, vì ông ta cũng là người Ga-li-lê.”
60 Nhưng Phi-rơ đáp, “Này ông, tôi không biết ông nói gì.”
Khi Phi-rơ còn đang nói, ngay lúc đó một con gà cất tiếng gáy. 61 Chúa quay lại nhìn Phi-rơ. Phi-rơ nhớ lại lời Chúa đã nói với ông, “Hôm nay, trước khi gà gáy, ngươi sẽ chối không biết Ta ba lần.” 62 Ông đi ra và khóc lóc đắng cay.
Chúa Chịu Khổ Nhục
(Mat 26:67-68; Mác 14:65)
63 Bấy giờ những kẻ canh giữ Ðức Chúa Jesus chế giễu Ngài và đánh Ngài. 64 Chúng bịt mắt Ngài và hỏi Ngài rằng, “Hãy nói tiên tri đi, ai đánh ông đó?” 65 Chúng còn nói nhiều điều khác xúc phạm đến Ngài.
Hội Ðồng Lãnh Ðạo Do-thái Xử Chúa
(Mat 26:59-66; Mác 14:55-64; Gg 18:19-24)
66 Ðến sáng ngày, các trưởng lão của dân, các trưởng tế, và các thầy dạy giáo luật họp lại; họ đem Ngài ra trước Hội Ðồng của họ và hỏi rằng, 67 “Nếu ông là Ðấng Christ, hãy nói cho chúng tôi biết.”
Nhưng Ngài trả lời họ, “Nếu Ta nói với các ngươi, các ngươi sẽ không tin, 68 và nếu Ta hỏi, các ngươi sẽ không trả lời. 69 Nhưng từ bây giờ trở đi Con Người sẽ ngồi bên phải ngai quyền năng của Ðức Chúa Trời.”
70 Tất cả họ đều hỏi, “Vậy ông là Con Ðức Chúa Trời sao?”
Ngài trả lời họ, “Chính các ngươi nói rằng Ta là Ðấng ấy.”
71 Họ bèn nói, “Chúng ta đâu cần chứng cớ gì nữa? Chính chúng ta đã nghe miệng ông ấy nói rồi.”
