The Destruction of Jerusalem(A)

20 (B)“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that (C)all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 (D)But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles (E)until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

The Coming of the Son of Man(F)

25 (G)“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, (H)for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man (I)coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because (J)your redemption draws near.”

The Parable of the Fig Tree(K)

29 (L)Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. 31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. 33 (M)Heaven and earth will pass away, but My (N)words will by no means pass away.

The Importance of Watching(O)

34 “But (P)take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with [a]carousing, drunkenness, and (Q)cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For (R)it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 (S)Watch therefore, and (T)pray always that you may [b]be counted (U)worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and (V)to stand before the Son of Man.”

37 (W)And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but (X)at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet. 38 Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death

116 I (A)love the Lord, because He has heard
My voice and my supplications.
Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.

(B)The [a]pains of death surrounded me,
And the [b]pangs of Sheol [c]laid hold of me;
I found trouble and sorrow.
Then I called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”

(C)Gracious is the Lord, and (D)righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.
Return to your (E)rest, O my soul,
For (F)the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

(G)For You have delivered my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from falling.
I will walk before the Lord
(H)In the land of the living.
10 (I)I believed, therefore I spoke,
“I am greatly afflicted.”
11 (J)I said in my haste,
(K)“All men are liars.”

12 What shall I render to the Lord
For all His benefits toward me?
13 I will take up the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the Lord.
14 (L)I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people.

15 (M)Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His saints.

16 O Lord, truly (N)I am Your servant;
I am Your servant, (O)the son of Your maidservant;
You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to You (P)the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And will call upon the name of the Lord.

18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people,
19 In the (Q)courts of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, O Jerusalem.

[d]Praise the Lord!

Let All Peoples Praise the Lord

117 Praise (R)the Lord, all you Gentiles!
[e]Laud Him, all you peoples!
For His merciful kindness is great toward us,
And (S)the truth of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord!

Praise to God for His Everlasting Mercy

118 Oh, (T)give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
(U)For His mercy endures forever.

(V)Let Israel now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”
Let those who fear the Lord now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”

(W)I called on the Lord in distress;
The Lord answered me and (X)set me in a broad place.
(Y)The Lord is on my side;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
(Z)The Lord is for me among those who help me;
Therefore (AA)I shall see my desire on those who hate me.
(AB)It is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in man.
(AC)It is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in princes.

10 All nations surrounded me,
But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
11 They (AD)surrounded me,
Yes, they surrounded me;
But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
12 They surrounded me (AE)like bees;
They were quenched (AF)like a fire of thorns;
For in the name of the Lord I will [f]destroy them.
13 You pushed me violently, that I might fall,
But the Lord helped me.
14 (AG)The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.

15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation
Is in the tents of the righteous;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
16 (AH)The right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.
17 (AI)I shall not die, but live,
And (AJ)declare the works of the Lord.
18 The Lord has (AK)chastened[g] me severely,
But He has not given me over to death.

19 (AL)Open to me the gates of righteousness;
I will go through them,
And I will praise the Lord.
20 (AM)This is the gate of the Lord,
(AN)Through which the righteous shall enter.

21 I will praise You,
For You have (AO)answered me,
And have become my salvation.

22 (AP)The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
23 [h]This was the Lord’s doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, I pray, O Lord;
O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.
26 (AQ)Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
27 God is the Lord,
And He has given us (AR)light;
Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise You;
(AS)You are my God, I will exalt You.

29 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
