A rich tax collector
19 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through town. 2 A man there named Zacchaeus, a ruler among tax collectors, was rich. 3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, but, being a short man, he couldn’t because of the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up a sycamore tree so he could see Jesus, who was about to pass that way. 5 When Jesus came to that spot, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, come down at once. I must stay in your home today.” 6 So Zacchaeus came down at once, happy to welcome Jesus.
7 Everyone who saw this grumbled, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
8 Zacchaeus stopped and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone, I repay them four times as much.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this household because he too is a son of Abraham. 10 The Human One[a] came to seek and save the lost.”
Faithful service
11 As they listened to this, Jesus told them another parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought God’s kingdom would appear right away. 12 He said, “A certain man who was born into royalty went to a distant land to receive his kingdom and then return. 13 He called together ten servants and gave each of them money worth four months’ wages.[b] He said, ‘Do business with this until I return.’ 14 His citizens hated him, so they sent a representative after him who said, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’ 15 After receiving his kingdom, he returned and called the servants to whom he had given the money to find out how much they had earned. 16 The first servant came forward and said, ‘Your money has earned a return of one thousand percent.’ 17 The king replied, ‘Excellent! You are a good servant. Because you have been faithful in a small matter, you will have authority over ten cities.’
18 “The second servant came and said, ‘Master, your money has made a return of five hundred percent.’ 19 To this one, the king said, ‘You will have authority over five cities.’
20 “Another servant came and said, ‘Master, here is your money. I wrapped it up in a scarf for safekeeping. 21 I was afraid of you because you are a stern man. You withdraw what you haven’t deposited and you harvest what you haven’t planted.’ 22 The king replied, ‘I will judge you by the words of your own mouth, you worthless servant! You knew, did you, that I’m a stern man, withdrawing what I didn’t deposit, and harvesting what I didn’t plant? 23 Why then didn’t you put my money in the bank? Then when I arrived, at least I could have gotten it back with interest.’
24 “He said to his attendants, ‘Take his money and give it to the one who has ten times as much.’ 25 ‘But Master,’ they said, ‘he already has ten times as much!’ 26 He replied, ‘I say to you that everyone who has will be given more, but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away. 27 As for my enemies who don’t want me as their king, bring them here and slaughter them before me.’”
28 After Jesus said this, he continued on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
Procession into Jerusalem
29 As Jesus came to Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, he gave two disciples a task. 30 He said, “Go into the village over there. When you enter it, you will find tied up there a colt that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying it?’ just say, ‘Its master needs it.’” 32 Those who had been sent found it exactly as he had said.
33 As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 They replied, “Its master needs it.” 35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their clothes on the colt, and lifted Jesus onto it. 36 As Jesus rode along, they spread their clothes on the road.
37 As Jesus approached the road leading down from the Mount of Olives, the whole throng of his disciples began rejoicing. They praised God with a loud voice because of all the mighty things they had seen. 38 They said,
“Blessings on the king who comes in the name of the Lord.
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest heavens.”
39 Some of the Pharisees from the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, scold your disciples! Tell them to stop!”
40 He answered, “I tell you, if they were silent, the stones would shout.”
Jesus predicts Jerusalem’s destruction
41 As Jesus came to the city and observed it, he wept over it. 42 He said, “If only you knew on this of all days the things that lead to peace. But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 The time will come when your enemies will build fortifications around you, encircle you, and attack you from all sides. 44 They will crush you completely, you and the people within you. They won’t leave one stone on top of another within you, because you didn’t recognize the time of your gracious visit from God.”
Jesus clears the temple
45 When Jesus entered the temple, he threw out those who were selling things there. 46 He said to them, “It’s written, My house will be a house of prayer, but you have made it a hideout for crooks.”[c]
47 Jesus was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests, the legal experts, and the foremost leaders among the people were seeking to kill him. 48 However, they couldn’t find a way to do it because all the people were enthralled with what they heard.

Zacchaeus
19 Jesus was going through the city of Jericho. 2 In Jericho there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a wealthy, very important tax collector. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was. There were many others who wanted to see Jesus too. Zacchaeus was too short to see above the people. 4 So he ran to a place where he knew Jesus would come. Then he climbed a sycamore tree so he could see him.
5 When Jesus came to where Zacchaeus was, he looked up and saw him in the tree. Jesus said, “Zacchaeus, hurry! Come down! I must stay at your house today.”
6 Zacchaeus hurried and came down. He was happy to have Jesus in his house. 7 Everyone saw this. They began to complain, “Look at the kind of man Jesus is staying with. Zacchaeus is a sinner!”
8 Zacchaeus said to the Lord, “I want to do good. I will give half of my money to the poor. If I have cheated anyone, I will pay them back four times more.”
9 Jesus said, “Today is the day for this family to be saved from sin. Yes, even this tax collector is one of God’s chosen people.[a] 10 The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.”
Use What God Gives You(A)
11 As the crowd listened to what he was saying, Jesus went on to tell a story. He was now near Jerusalem and knew that the people thought it was almost time for God’s kingdom to come. 12 So he said, “A very important man was preparing to go to a country far away to be made a king. Then he planned to return home and rule his people. 13 So he called ten of his servants together. He gave a bag of money[b] to each servant. He said, ‘Do business with this money until I come back.’ 14 But the people in the kingdom hated the man. They sent a group to follow him to the other country. There they said, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’
15 “But the man was made king. When he came home, he said, ‘Call those servants who have my money. I want to know how much more money they earned with it.’ 16 The first servant came and said, ‘Sir, I earned ten bags of money with the one bag you gave me.’ 17 The king said to him, ‘That’s great! You are a good servant. I see that I can trust you with small things. So now I will let you rule over ten of my cities.’
18 “The second servant said, ‘Sir, with your one bag of money I earned five bags.’ 19 The king said to this servant, ‘You can rule over five cities.’
20 “Then another servant came in and said to the king, ‘Sir, here is your bag of money. I wrapped it in a piece of cloth and hid it. 21 I was afraid of you because you are a hard man. You even take money that you didn’t earn and gather food that you didn’t grow.’
22 “Then the king said to him, ‘What a bad servant you are! I will use your own words to condemn you. You said that I am a hard man. You said that I even take money that I didn’t earn and gather food that I didn’t grow. 23 If that is true, you should have put my money in the bank. Then, when I came back, my money would have earned some interest.’ 24 Then the king said to the men who were watching, ‘Take the bag of money away from this servant and give it to the servant who earned ten bags of money.’
25 “The men said to the king, ‘But sir, that servant already has ten bags of money.’
26 “The king said, ‘People who use what they have will get more. But those who do not use what they have will have everything taken away from them. 27 Now where are my enemies? Where are the people who did not want me to be king? Bring my enemies here and kill them. I will watch them die.’”
Jesus Enters Jerusalem Like a King(B)
28 After Jesus said these things, he continued traveling toward Jerusalem. 29 He came near Bethphage and Bethany, towns near the hill called the Mount of Olives. He sent out two of his followers. 30 He said, “Go into the town you can see there. When you enter the town, you will find a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it, and bring it here to me. 31 If anyone asks you why you are taking the donkey, you should say, ‘The Master needs it.’”
32 The two followers went into town. They found the donkey exactly like Jesus told them. 33 They untied it, but its owners came out. They said to the followers, “Why are you untying our donkey?”
34 The followers answered, “The Master needs it.” 35 So the followers brought the donkey to Jesus. They put their coats on its back. Then they put Jesus on the donkey. 36 He rode along the road toward Jerusalem. The followers spread their coats on the road before him.
37 Jesus was coming close to Jerusalem. He was already near the bottom of the Mount of Olives. The whole group of followers was happy. They were very excited and praised God. They thanked God for all the powerful things they had seen. 38 They said,
“‘Welcome! God bless the king who comes in the name of the Lord.’ (C)
Peace in heaven and glory to God!”
39 Some of the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, tell your followers not to say these things.”
40 But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if my followers didn’t say them, these stones would shout them.”
Jesus Cries for Jerusalem
41 Jesus came near Jerusalem. Looking at the city, he began to cry for it 42 and said, “I wish you knew today what would bring you peace. But it is hidden from you now. 43 A time is coming when your enemies will build a wall around you and hold you in on all sides. 44 They will destroy you and all your people. Not one stone of your buildings will stay on top of another. All this will happen because you did not know the time when God came to save you.”
Jesus Goes to the Temple(D)
45 Jesus went into the Temple area. He began to throw out the people who were selling things there. 46 He said, “The Scriptures say, ‘My Temple will be a house of prayer.’[c] But you have changed it into a ‘hiding place for thieves.’[d]”
47 Jesus taught the people in the Temple area every day. The leading priests, the teachers of the law, and some of the leaders of the people wanted to kill him. 48 But they did not know how they could do it, because everyone was listening to him. The people were very interested in what Jesus said.

19 耶穌進了耶利哥，正從城裡經過。 2 有個人名叫撒該，是稅吏長，家財豐厚。 3 他想看看耶穌，可是因為周圍人多，他身材矮小，無法看見。 4 他便跑到前面，爬上一棵桑樹觀看，因為耶穌會從那裡經過。
5 耶穌走到那裡，抬頭招呼他說：「撒該，快下來！今天我要住在你家。」
6 撒該連忙爬下來，興高采烈地帶耶穌回家。 7 百姓見狀，都埋怨說：「祂怎麼到一個罪人家裡作客？」
8 撒該站起來對主說：「主啊，我要把我一半的財產分給窮人。我欺騙過誰，就還誰四倍。」

十個奴僕的比喻

騎驢進耶路撒冷
28 耶穌說完這個比喻，就走在眾人前面上耶路撒冷去。
29 快到橄欖山附近的伯法其和伯大尼時，耶穌派了兩個門徒，說： 30 「你們去前面的村莊，進村的時候，必看見一頭從來沒有人騎過的驢駒拴在那裡，你們把牠解開牽來。 31 若有人問你們為什麼把牠解開，就說，『主要用牠。』」
32 兩個門徒出去後，所遇見的情形正如耶穌所說的。 33 當他們解開驢駒時，主人果然問他們：「你們為什麼解開驢駒？」
34 他們說：「主要用牠。」
35 他們牽著驢駒回去見耶穌，又把自己的外衣搭在驢背上，扶耶穌上驢。

耶穌潔淨聖殿

Jesus e Zaqueu
19 Jesus entrou em Jericó e foi atravessando a cidade. 2 Ali vivia um homem rico chamado Zaqueu, chefe dos cobradores de impostos. 3 Ele queria ver quem era Jesus, mas não conseguia por causa da multidão e também porque era muito baixo. 4 Então, correndo à frente de todos, Zaqueu subiu em uma figueira-do-mato a fim de ver a Jesus, pois ele ia passar por ali. 5 Quando Jesus chegou àquele lugar, olhou para cima e lhe disse:
—Desça depressa, Zaqueu, pois eu tenho que ficar na sua casa hoje.
6 Ele desceu depressa e o recebeu com grande alegria. 7 Todos viram aquilo e começaram a reclamar, dizendo:
—Ele vai ficar na casa desse pecador!
8 Zaqueu se levantou e disse:

9 Jesus, então, lhe disse:

A parábola sobre os servos
(Mt 25.14-30)
11 Todos ouviam o que Jesus dizia. Então, como estavam perto de Jerusalém e como eles pensavam que o reino de Deus estava prestes a aparecer, Jesus continuou e lhes contou esta parábola:
12 —Um homem nascido de família importante foi para um país distante a fim de tomar posse de um reino e depois voltar. 13 Então, chamou seus dez servos, deu a eles dez sacos de dinheiro[a] e lhes disse: “Vejam o que vocês podem fazer com este dinheiro até eu voltar”. 14 Mas o povo do seu reino o odiava, e mandou, então, uma delegação atrás dele, dizendo: “Nós não queremos que este homem reine sobre nós”. 15 O homem, porém, foi, tomou posse do seu reino e voltou para casa. Aí mandou chamar os servos a quem tinha dado o dinheiro, a fim de verificar quanto dinheiro a mais eles tinham conseguido. 16 O primeiro chegou e disse: “Senhor, eu ganhei dez vezes mais do dinheiro que o senhor me deu”. 17 O senhor, então, lhe disse: “Muito bem! Você é um bom servo! Jesus entra em Jerusalém
(Mt 21.1-11; Mc 11.1-11; Jo 12.12-19)
28 Depois de ter dito estas coisas, Jesus seguiu adiante para Jerusalém. 29 Quando estava próximo de Betfagé e de Betânia, junto ao monte das Oliveiras, Jesus enviou dois de seus discípulos, com as seguintes instruções:
30 —Vão até aquela vila ali na frente. Chegando lá, vocês encontrarão um jumentinho preso que nunca foi montado. Soltem-no e tragam-no aqui. 31 Se alguém lhes perguntar: “Por que vocês o estão soltando?”, digam: “Porque o Senhor precisa dele”.
32 Os que tinham sido enviados foram e encontraram tudo exatamente como ele tinha dito. 33 E, enquanto estavam desamarrando o jumentinho, os donos lhes perguntaram:
—Por que vocês estão soltando o jumentinho?
34 Eles responderam:
—Porque o Senhor precisa dele.
35 Então levaram o jumentinho a Jesus, puseram as suas capas em cima do animal e ajudaram Jesus a montá-lo. 36 Enquanto Jesus seguia, as pessoas estendiam suas capas pelo caminho. 37 Quando começaram a descer o monte das Oliveiras, toda a multidão de discípulos começou a louvar a Deus alegremente e em alta voz, por todos os milagres que tinham visto. 38 Eles diziam:

Paz no céu e glória a Deus!
39 Alguns dos fariseus que estavam na multidão disseram a Jesus:
—Mestre, diga a seus discípulos que fiquem quietos!
40 Ele respondeu:
—Eu lhes digo que, se eles ficarem quietos, as próprias pedras gritarão no lugar deles.
Jesus chora ao ver Jerusalém
41 Quando Jesus se aproximou e viu a cidade de Jerusalém, chorou 42 e disse:
—Se ao menos hoje você soubesse o que era preciso para conseguir a paz! Mas você não pode ver, pois isso está escondido de seus olhos. 43 Dias virão em que os seus inimigos levantarão barreiras à sua volta. Eles cercarão você e marcharão contra você de todos os lados. 44 Eles destruirão completamente a você e a todo o seu povo e não deixarão ficar uma pedra sobre outra, pois você não reconheceu o tempo em que Deus veio para lhe salvar.
Jesus no templo
(Mt 21.12-17; Mc 11.15-19; Jo 2.13-22)
45 Ao entrar no templo, Jesus começou a expulsar de lá os vendedores, 46 dizendo:
—As Escrituras dizem: “A minha casa será uma casa de oração”(B). Vocês, porém, a transformaram num “esconderijo de ladrões”(C)!
47 Jesus ensinava no templo todos os dias. Os líderes dos sacerdotes, os professores da lei e os líderes do povo procuravam um meio de matá-lo. 48 No entanto, não conseguiam encontrar nenhuma forma de fazê-lo, pois todo o povo prestava muita atenção nas palavras dele.
