41 As he came near and saw the city, he wept over it, 42 saying, “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 Indeed, the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up ramparts around you and surround you, and hem you in on every side. 44 They will crush you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave within you one stone upon another; because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”[a]

- (19,44) Das Wort bezeichnet den Besuch eines Höherstehenden zur Fürsorge und Hilfe, aber auch zur Aufsicht und Rechtsprechung; hier meint es den gnädigen Besuch des Herrn, der Jerusalem Umkehr und Rettung anbot. Für »Zeit« steht hier kairos = die besondere, von Gott festgesetzte Zeit.

Mais, hélas, à présent, tout cela est caché à tes yeux. 43 Des jours de malheur vont fondre sur toi. Tes ennemis t’entoureront d’ouvrages de siège, t’encercleront et te presseront de tous côtés. 44 Ils te détruiront complètement, toi et les habitants qui seront dans tes murs, et ils ne laisseront pas chez toi une pierre sur une autre. Pourquoi ? Parce que tu n’as pas su reconnaître le moment où Dieu est intervenu pour toi.
