⁵ And he said to them, ^(A)“Which of you, having a son^[a] or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?”

¹⁵ Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! ^(A)Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it?

^4 (A)“If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey going astray, you shall bring it back to him. ⁵ If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying down under its burden, you shall refrain from leaving him with it; you shall rescue it with him.

¹¹ He said to them, “Which one of you who has a sheep, ^(A)if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? ^12 (B)Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So ^(C)it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

²⁴ this is the interpretation, O king: It is a decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king,
