13 And there were present certain at that time, telling him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate did mingle with their sacrifices;

and Jesus answering said to them, `Think ye that these Galileans became sinners beyond all the Galileans, because they have suffered such things?

No -- I say to you, but, if ye may not reform, all ye even so shall perish.

`Or those eighteen, on whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them; think ye that these became debtors beyond all men who are dwelling in Jerusalem?

No -- I say to you, but, if ye may not reform, all ye in like manner shall perish.'

And he spake this simile: `A certain one had a fig-tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit in it, and he did not find;

and he said unto the vine-dresser, Lo, three years I come seeking fruit in this fig-tree, and do not find, cut it off, why also the ground doth it render useless?

`And he answering saith to him, Sir, suffer it also this year, till that I may dig about it, and cast in dung;

and if indeed it may bear fruit --; and if not so, thereafter thou shalt cut it off.'

10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath,

11 and lo, there was a woman having a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and she was bowed together, and not able to bend back at all,

12 and Jesus having seen her, did call [her] near, and said to her, `Woman, thou hast been loosed from thy infirmity;'

13 and he laid on her [his] hands, and presently she was set upright, and was glorifying God.

14 And the chief of the synagogue answering -- much displeased that on the sabbath Jesus healed -- said to the multitude, `Six days there are in which it behoveth [us] to be working; in these, then, coming, be healed, and not on the sabbath-day.'

15 Then the Lord answered him and said, `Hypocrite, doth not each of you on the sabbath loose his ox or ass from the stall, and having led away, doth water [it]?

16 and this one, being a daughter of Abraham, whom the Adversary bound, lo, eighteen years, did it not behove to be loosed from this bond on the sabbath-day?'

17 And he saying these things, all who were opposed to him were being ashamed, and all the multitude were rejoicing over all the glorious things that are being done by him.

18 And he said, `To what is the reign of God like? and to what shall I liken it?

19 It is like to a grain of mustard, which a man having taken, did cast into his garden, and it increased, and came to a great tree, and the fowls of the heavens did rest in its branches.'

20 And again he said, `To what shall I liken the reign of God?

21 It is like leaven, which a woman, having taken, did hide in three measures of meal, till that all was leavened.'

22 And he was going through cities and villages, teaching, and making progress toward Jerusalem;

23 and a certain one said to him, `Sir, are those saved few?' and he said unto them,

24 `Be striving to go in through the straight gate, because many, I say to you, will seek to go in, and shall not be able;

25 from the time the master of the house may have risen up, and may have shut the door, and ye may begin without to stand, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, lord, open to us, and he answering shall say to you, I have not known you whence ye are,

26 then ye may begin to say, We did eat before thee, and did drink, and in our broad places thou didst teach;

27 and he shall say, I say to you, I have not known you whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of the unrighteousness.

28 `There shall be there the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth, when ye may see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the reign of God, and yourselves being cast out without;

29 and they shall come from east and west, and from north and south, and shall recline in the reign of God,

30 and lo, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last.'

31 On that day there came near certain Pharisees, saying to him, `Go forth, and be going on hence, for Herod doth wish to kill thee;'

32 and he said to them, `Having gone, say to this fox, Lo, I cast forth demons, and perfect cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third [day] I am being perfected;

33 but it behoveth me to-day, and to-morrow, and the [day] following, to go on, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish out of Jerusalem.

34 `Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that is killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto her, how often did I will to gather together thy children, as a hen her brood under the wings, and ye did not will.

35 `Lo, your house is being left to you desolate, and verily I say to you -- ye may not see me, till it may come, when ye may say, Blessed [is] he who is coming in the name of the Lord.'

不悔改则灭亡

13 正在那时候,有些人前来告诉耶稣有关加利利人的事,就是彼拉多加利利人的血与他们的祭物混在一起的事。 耶稣[a]回答他们,说:“你们以为这些加利利人如此受害,是因为他们比其他[b]所有加利利人更有罪吗? 不是的。我告诉你们:你们如果不悔改,都会同样地灭亡。 或者,西罗亚楼倒塌压死的那十八个人,你们以为他们比所有住在耶路撒冷的人更有罪吗? 不是的。我告诉你们:你们如果不悔改,都会同样灭亡。”

无花果树的比喻

于是耶稣讲了这个比喻:“一个人有一棵无花果树栽在自己的葡萄园里。当他过来,在那树上找果子时,却找不到, 就对园丁说:‘你看,一连三年,我在这无花果树上找果子,都找不到。把它砍了吧!何必让它白占土地?’

“但是园丁回答,对他说:‘主人,今年再留着它吧。等我在它周围挖掘,施些粪肥, 或许它来年真会结出果子,否则,你就砍了它。’”

治愈驼背的妇人

10 在安息日,耶稣在一个会堂里教导人, 11 看哪,有一个妇人,被邪灵附身病了十八年,一直弯着腰,完全直不起身来。 12 耶稣看见她,就招呼她,对她说:“妇人,你已经从你的疾病中被释放了!” 13 然后耶稣按手在她身上,她的腰立刻直了,她就不住地荣耀神。

14 因为耶稣在安息日使人痊愈,会堂主管就很生气,对那群人说:“应该做工的日子有六天,所以你们在那些日子来得痊愈吧!但不要在安息日这一天。”

15 主回答他,说:“你们这些伪善的人!难道你们每个人在安息日,不也是把自己的牛或驴从槽边解开,牵去饮水吗? 16 何况这妇人,做为亚伯拉罕的子孙[c],被撒旦所捆绑竟然有十八年,难道不应该在安息日这一天从捆锁中被释放吗?”

17 耶稣说了这些话,所有反对他的人都感到蒙羞,可是众人都因他所行的一切荣耀的事而感到欢喜。

芥菜种与面酵的比喻

18 于是耶稣说:“神的国好比什么呢?我要把它比做什么呢? 19 它好比一粒芥菜种子,有人拿去种在自己的园子里,种子长大,成了一棵树[d],天空的飞鸟也在它的枝子上搭窝。”

20 耶稣又说:“我要把神的国比做什么呢? 21 它好比酵母,一个妇人拿去拌在[e]三斗[f]面里,直到整团面都发了酵。”

要进窄门

22 耶稣走遍许多城镇、乡村教导人,并继续往耶路撒冷前行。 23 有一个人问他:“主啊,得救的人很少吗?”

耶稣对他们说: 24 “你们要为进窄门而争战,因为我告诉你们:将有许多人想要进去,却是不能。 25 等到那家的主人起来关了门,你们才开始站在外面敲门,说:‘主啊,请给我们开门!’主人就会回答你们,说:‘我不知道你们是从哪里来的。’ 26 那时你们就开始说:‘我们曾经在你面前吃过、喝过,你也曾经在我们的大街[g]上教导过!’ 27 他要对你们说:‘我不知道你们是从哪里来的。离开我,你们所有不义的工人!’ 28 当你们看见亚伯拉罕以撒雅各和所有的先知在神的国里,而你们却被丢在外面的时候,在那里将有哀哭和切齿。 29 人们将从东、西、南、北而来,在神的国里坐席。 30 看哪,有些在后的,将要在前;有些在前的,将要在后。”

耶稣与希律

31 就在这时候[h][i],有一些法利赛人前来对耶稣说:“你离开吧,从这里走开!因为希律想要杀你。”

32 耶稣对他们说:“你们去告诉那狐狸:看哪!今天明天我驱赶鬼魔、治愈疾病,然后在第三天,我的事就得以完成了。 33 不过今天、明天、后天,我必须往前走,因为先知不能在耶路撒冷之外被杀!

为耶路撒冷哀叹

34 耶路撒冷啊,耶路撒冷!这城杀害先知们,又用石头砸死被差到她这里的人!我多次想聚集你的儿女,像母鸡把自己的小鸡聚集在翅膀下,可是你们不愿意! 35 看哪,你们的家[j]要被废弃[k]。我[l]告诉你们:你们绝不会再见到我了,直到那日子来临,就是你们说‘奉主名而来的那一位是蒙祝福的’[m]那时候。”

Promjena srca

13 U to su vrijeme bili ondje neki ljudi koji su došli k Isusu i ispričali mu o Galilejcima koje je Pilat pogubio dok su prinosili žrtve Bogu. Isus im je odgovorio: »Mislite li da ih je to snašlo zato što su bili veći grešnici od svih drugih Galilejaca? Ja vam kažem da nisu. Ali, ako se ne obratite, svi ćete propasti kao i oni. Ili, što je s onih osamnaest ljudi na koje se srušila kula u Siloamu i ubila ih? Mislite li da su oni bili više krivi nego svi ostali stanovnici Jeruzalema? Ja vam kažem da nisu. Ali, ako se ne obratite, svi ćete umrijeti kao i oni.«

Stablo bez plodova

Zatim je ispričao sljedeću usporedbu: »Neki je čovjek u svom vrtu posadio smokvu. Došao je na njoj potražiti plodove, ali nije ništa našao. Rekao je vrtlaru: ‘Pogledaj, već tri godine dolazim po plodove ove smokve, ali ništa nisam našao. Posijeci je! Zašto da iscrpljuje zemlju?’ A vrtlar je odgovorio: ‘Gospodaru, ostavi je još ovu godinu dok je ne okopam i ne pognojim! Možda će roditi sljedeće godine. Ali ako ne donese roda, onda je posijeci!’«

Isus ozdravlja ženu na šabat

10 Jednog je šabata Isus poučavao u sinagogi. 11 Bila je ondje neka žena u kojoj je bio zao duh zbog kojega je već osamnaest godina bila invalid. Bila je zgrbljena i nije se mogla uspraviti. 12 Kad ju je Isus ugledao, pozvao ju je k sebi i rekao joj: »Ženo, slobodna si od svoje bolesti!« 13 Zatim je stavio ruke na nju. Istoga se trena žena uspravila i počela slaviti Boga.

14 Na to se javio voditelj sinagoge. Bio je ljut jer ju je Isus iscijelio na šabat pa je rekao ljudima: »Šest je dana u tjednu za rad, zato dođite i liječite se u te dane, a ne na šabat!«

15 Gospodin mu je odgovorio: »Licemjeri, zar svaki od vas ne odvezuje na šabat svojega vola ili magarca i vodi ga iz staje da ga napoji? 16 Zar ova žena, potomak Abrahama, koju je Sotona držao vezanu osamnaest godina, ne bi na šabat trebala biti oslobođena?« 17 Te su njegove riječi posramile one koji su mu se protivili. A svi su se radovali zbog divnih djela koja je Isus činio.

Usporedba o sjemenu gorušice i kvascu

(Mt 13,31-33; Mk 4,30-32)

18 A Isus je rekao: »Čemu je slično Božje kraljevstvo? S čime da ga usporedim? 19 Ono je kao sjeme gorušice[a] koje je čovjek posijao u svom vrtu. Sjeme je proklijalo, izraslo je drvo, a ptice su sagradile gnijezda u njegovim granama.«

20 I ponovo je rekao: »S čime ću usporediti Božje kraljevstvo? 21 Ono je kao kvasac koji je žena uzela i pomiješala s tri mjerice brašna, dok se sve tijesto ne digne.«

Uska vrata

(Mt 7,13-14.21-23)

22 Na putu prema Jeruzalemu Isus je prolazio kroz sela i gradove poučavajući. 23 Netko ga je upitao: »Gospodine, hoće li samo malobrojni biti spašeni?« On im je odgovorio:

24 »Potrudite se da uđete na uska vrata jer će mnogi, kažem vam, pokušati ući, ali neće moći. 25 Kad jednom domaćin kuće ustane i zaključa vrata, ostat ćete vani. Počet ćete kucati i govoriti: ‘Gospodine, otvori nam!’ A on će reći: ‘Ne znam tko ste niti odakle ste došli.’ 26 Tada ćete govoriti: ‘Mi smo jeli i pili s tobom i ti si poučavao na našim ulicama.’ 27 A on će vam reći: ‘Ne znam vas niti odakle ste došli. Odlazite od mene, svi vi koji činite zlo!’ 28 Bit će plača i škripanja zubima kad u Božjem kraljevstvu vidite Abrahama, Izaka, Jakova i sve proroke, a sami budete izbačeni iz njega. 29 I doći će ljudi s istoka i zapada, sjevera i juga i svaki će zauzeti svoje mjesto za stolom u Božjem kraljevstvu. 30 Zapamtite, da ima onih koji su posljednji, a bit će prvi; i onih koji su prvi, a bit će posljednji.«

Isus će umrijeti u Jeruzalemu

(Mt 23,37-39)

31 U to su vrijeme neki farizeji došli k Isusu i rekli mu: »Idi odavde jer te Herod želi ubiti!«

32 A on im je rekao: »Idite i recite tom liscu: ‘Slušaj! Danas i sutra istjerujem zle duhove i iscjeljujem. A onda, prekosutra, dovršavam posao.’ 33 Ali i danas, i sutra, i prekosutra moram nastaviti put jer nije običaj da prorok umre izvan Jeruzalema.

34 Jeruzaleme, Jeruzaleme, ti koji ubijaš proroke i kamenuješ one koje ti šalje Bog! Koliko sam čeznuo da tvoju djecu okupim kao što kvočka okuplja pod krila svoje piliće! Ali vi to niste htjeli. 35 Evo, vaša će kuća ostati potpuno prazna. Kažem vam, nećete me više vidjeti sve dok ne dođe vrijeme kad budete govorili: ‘Blagoslovljen je onaj koji dolazi u Gospodinovo ime.’«[b]

Repent or Perish

13 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate(A) had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?(B) I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam(C) fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent,(D) you too will all perish.”

Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any.(E) So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down!(F) Why should it use up the soil?’

“‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’”

Jesus Heals a Crippled Woman on the Sabbath

10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues,(G) 11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years.(H) She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” 13 Then he put his hands on her,(I) and immediately she straightened up and praised God.

14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath,(J) the synagogue leader(K) said to the people, “There are six days for work.(L) So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”

15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?(M) 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham,(N) whom Satan(O) has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”

17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated,(P) but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.

The Parables of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast(Q)(R)

18 Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God(S) like?(T) What shall I compare it to? 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree,(U) and the birds perched in its branches.”(V)

20 Again he asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? 21 It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds[a] of flour until it worked all through the dough.”(W)

The Narrow Door

22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem.(X) 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”

He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door,(Y) because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’

“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’(Z)

26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’

27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’(AA)

28 “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth,(AB) when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. 29 People will come from east and west(AC) and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. 30 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”(AD)

Jesus’ Sorrow for Jerusalem(AE)(AF)

31 At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod(AG) wants to kill you.”

32 He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’(AH) 33 In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet(AI) can die outside Jerusalem!

34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,(AJ) and you were not willing. 35 Look, your house is left to you desolate.(AK) I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’[b](AL)

23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
