³ I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

¹⁹ Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,^(A) that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

² and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven^(A) has come near.”

⁵ I tell you, no! But unless you repent,^(A) you too will all perish.”

³⁸ Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized,^(A) every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.^(B) And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.^{(C) 39} The promise is for you and your children^(D) and for all who are far off^(E)—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

⁴⁰ With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”^(F)

²⁸ Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.^{(A) 29} For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’^{(B) 30} Then

²² For this is the time of punishment^(A) in fulfillment^(B) of all that has been written. ²³ How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. ²⁴ They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled^(C) on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

³⁵ And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel^(A) to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah,^(B) whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.^{(C) 36} Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.^(D)

³⁷ “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you,^(E) how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,^(F) and you were not willing. ³⁸ Look, your house is left to you desolate.^(G)
