¹⁵ But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.”

³⁴ But the Pharisees were saying, “By the ruler of the demons he casts out the demons.”^(A)

²⁰ Many of them were saying, “He has a demon and is out of his mind. Why listen to him?”^(A)

⁵² The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and so did the prophets, yet you say, ‘Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.’^(A)

⁴⁸ The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?”^(A)

²⁰ The crowd answered, “You have a demon! Who is trying to kill you?”^(A)

¹⁸ If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?—for you say that I cast out the demons by Beelzebul. ¹⁹ Now if I cast out the demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your exorcists^[a] cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.

²² And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons.”^{(A) 23} And he called them to him and spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?^{(B) 24} If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. ²⁵ And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. ²⁶ And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but his end has come. ²⁷ But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his property without first tying up the strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered.^(C)

²⁸ “Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter,^{(D) 29} but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness but is guilty of an eternal sin”— ³⁰ for they had said, “He has an unclean spirit.”

²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons, that this man casts out the demons.”^{(A) 25} He knew what they were thinking and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.^{(B) 26} If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand? ²⁷ If I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own exorcists^[a] cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.^{(C) 28} But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.^{(D) 29} Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his property without first tying up the strong man? Then indeed the house can be plundered. ³⁰ Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.^(E)

²⁵ it is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher and the slave like the master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household!^(A)
