⁴¹ But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are ^(A)anxious and troubled about many things,

^6 (A)do not be anxious about anything, ^(B)but in everything by prayer and supplication ^(C)with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Do Not Be Anxious

^25 (A)“Therefore I tell you, ^(B)do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ^26 (C)Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. ^(D)Are you not of more value than they? ²⁷ And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his ^(E)span of life?^{[a] 28} And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, ²⁹ yet I tell you, ^(F)even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ³⁰ But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, ^(G)O you of little faith? ³¹ Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ³² For ^(H)the Gentiles seek after all these things, and ^(I)your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. ³³ But ^(J)seek first ^(K)the kingdom of God and his righteousness, ^(L)and all these things will be added to you.

^34 (M)“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Watch Yourselves

³⁴ “But watch yourselves ^(A)lest ^(B)your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and ^(C)cares of this life, and ^(D)that day come upon you suddenly ^(E)like a trap.

¹⁴ And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but ^(A)as they go on their way they are choked by the ^(B)cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.

³² I want you to be ^(A)free from anxieties. ^(B)The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. ³³ But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, ³⁴ and his interests are divided. And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit. But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband. ³⁵ I say this for your own benefit, ^(C)not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.

Do Not Be Anxious

²² And he said to his disciples, ^(A)“Therefore I tell you, ^(B)do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on.

¹⁹ but ^(A)the cares of ^(B)the world and ^(C)the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.

¹¹ The more words, the more vanity, and what is the advantage to man?
