⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, so she came to him and asked, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her, then, to help me.”

²⁷ Do not work for the food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.”^(A)

²⁹ And do not keep seeking what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying.

²² And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This must never happen to you.”

¹⁵ When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”

Jonah’s Anger

4 But this was very displeasing to Jonah, and he became angry.^{(A) 2} He prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord! Is not this what I said while I was still in my own country? That is why I fled to Tarshish at the beginning, for I knew that you are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from punishment.^{(B) 3} And now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”^{(C) 4} And the Lord said, “Is it right for you to be angry?”^(D)

⁵⁵ But he turned and rebuked them.

²¹ When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.”^(A)
