The Parable of the Good Samaritan

^25 (A)And behold, a ^(B)lawyer stood up to ^(C)put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to ^(D)inherit eternal life?”

The Great Commandment

^34 (A)But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced ^(B)the Sadducees, they gathered together. ^35 (C)And one of them, ^(D)a lawyer, asked him a question ^(E)to test him. ³⁶ “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” ³⁷ And he said to him, ^(F)“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ³⁸ This is the great and first commandment. ³⁹ And ^(G)a second is like it: ^(H)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

The Rich Ruler

^18 (A)And a ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to ^(B)inherit eternal life?”

The Rich Young Man

^16 (A)And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to ^(B)have ^(C)eternal life?” ¹⁷ And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. ^(D)If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” ¹⁸ He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, ^(E)“You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, ¹⁹ Honor your father and mother, and, ^(F)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

³⁰ Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, ^(A)what must I do to be ^(B)saved?” ³¹ And they said, ^(C)“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you ^(D)and your household.”

⁴⁵ One of ^(A)the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying these things you insult us also.” ⁴⁶ And he said, “Woe to you ^(B)lawyers also! For ^(C)you load people with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.

¹⁸ For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but ^(A)God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

^30 (A)but the Pharisees and ^(B)the lawyers ^(C)rejected ^(D)the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.)
