⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things^(A)
    but has sent the rich away empty.

⁸ Let them give thanks^(A) to the Lord for his unfailing love^(B)
    and his wonderful deeds^(C) for mankind,
⁹ for he satisfies^(D) the thirsty
    and fills the hungry with good things.^(E)

²¹ Blessed are you who hunger now,
    for you will be satisfied.^(A)
Blessed are you who weep now,
    for you will laugh.^(B)

¹⁰ The lions may grow weak and hungry,
    but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.^(A)

¹⁶ ‘Never again will they hunger;
    never again will they thirst.^(A)
The sun will not beat down on them,’^[a]
    nor any scorching heat.^(B)
17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne
    will be their shepherd;^(C)
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’^[b](D)
