²⁷ to a virgin ^(A)betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.

Christ Born of Mary^(A)

¹⁸ Now the ^(B)birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child ^(C)of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁶ And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of ^(A)Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: ^(A)Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear ^(B)a Son, and shall call His name ^(C)Immanuel.^[a]

⁴ Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to ^(A)the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, ^(B)because he was of the house and lineage of David, ⁵ to be registered with Mary, ^(C)his betrothed ^[a]wife, who was with child.

^23 (A)“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

²⁰ But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, ^(A)for that which is ^[a]conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. ^21 (B)And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name ^[b]Jesus, ^(C)for He will save His people from their sins.”
