^25 (A)And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’ ²⁶ But not so with you; ^(B)rather the one who is the greatest among you must become like ^(C)the youngest, and the leader like the servant. ²⁷ For ^(D)who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines? But ^(E)I am among you as the one who serves.

^25 (A)But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. ²⁶ It is not this way among you, ^(B)but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, ²⁷ and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; ²⁸ just as ^(C)the Son of Man ^(D)did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His ^[a]life a ransom for many.”

⁴² And calling them to Himself, Jesus *said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them. ⁴³ But it is not this way among you, ^(A)but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; ⁴⁴ and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of Man ^(B)did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His ^[a]life a ransom for many.”
