Jesus Is Presented in the Temple
22 When the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male shall be designated as holy to the Lord”), 24 and they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon;[a] this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him. 26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.[b] 27 Guided by the Spirit, Simeon[c] came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the law, 28 Simeon[d] took him in his arms and praised God, saying,
29 “Master, now you are dismissing your servant[e] in peace,
according to your word;
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation,
31 which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles
and for glory to your people Israel.”
33 And the child’s father and mother were amazed at what was being said about him. 34 Then Simeon[f] blessed them and said to his mother Mary, “This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed 35 so that the inner thoughts of many will be revealed—and a sword will pierce your own soul too.”
36 There was also a prophet, Anna[g] the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped there with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 At that moment she came, and began to praise God and to speak about the child[h] to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
The Return to Nazareth
39 When they had finished everything required by the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. 40 The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

25 (A)Vi era in Gerusalemme un uomo di nome Simeone. Quest’uomo era giusto e timorato di Dio, e aspettava la consolazione d’Israele; lo Spirito Santo era sopra di lui 26 e gli era stato rivelato dallo Spirito Santo che non sarebbe morto[e] prima di aver visto il Cristo del Signore. 27 Egli, mosso dallo Spirito, andò nel tempio; e, come i genitori vi portavano il bambino Gesù per adempiere a suo riguardo le prescrizioni della legge, 28 lo prese tra le [sue] braccia e benedisse Dio, dicendo:
29 «Ora, o Signore, tu lasci andare in pace il tuo servo, secondo la tua parola;
30 perché i miei occhi hanno visto la tua salvezza,
31 che hai preparata dinanzi a tutti i popoli,
32 luce per illuminare le genti[f] e gloria del tuo popolo Israele».
33 Il padre e la madre[g] di Gesù restavano meravigliati delle cose che si dicevano di lui. 34 E Simeone li benedisse, dicendo a Maria, madre di lui: «Ecco, egli è posto a caduta e a rialzamento di molti in Israele, come segno di contraddizione 35 (e a te stessa una spada trafiggerà l’anima), affinché i pensieri di molti cuori siano svelati».
36 Vi era anche Anna, profetessa, figlia di Penuel, della tribù di Ascer. Era molto avanti negli anni; dopo essere vissuta con il marito sette anni dalla sua verginità, era rimasta vedova e aveva raggiunto gli ottantaquattro anni. 37 Non si allontanava mai dal tempio e serviva Dio notte e giorno con digiuni e preghiere. 38 Sopraggiunta in quella stessa ora, anche lei lodava Dio[h] e parlava del bambino a tutti quelli che aspettavano la redenzione di Gerusalemme[i].
Ritorno a Nazaret
39 (B)Come ebbero adempiuto tutte le prescrizioni della legge del Signore, tornarono in Galilea, a Nazaret, loro città.
40 E il bambino cresceva e si fortificava [nello Spirito]; era pieno di sapienza e la grazia di Dio era su di lui.

Der Lobpreis Simeons. Die Prophetin Hanna
25 Und siehe, es war ein Mensch namens Simeon in Jerusalem; und dieser Mensch war gerecht und gottesfürchtig und wartete auf den Trost Israels; und der Heilige Geist war auf ihm.
26 Und er hatte vom Heiligen Geist die Zusage empfangen, dass er den Tod nicht sehen werde, bevor er den Gesalbten[c] des Herrn gesehen habe.
27 Und er kam auf Antrieb des Geistes in den Tempel. Und als die Eltern das Kind Jesus hineinbrachten, um für ihn zu tun, was der Brauch des Gesetzes verlangte,
28 da nahm er es auf seine Arme, lobte Gott und sprach:
29 Nun, Herr, entlässt du deinen Knecht in Frieden nach deinem Wort!
30 Denn meine Augen haben dein Heil gesehen,
31 das du vor allen Völkern bereitet hast,
32 ein Licht zur Offenbarung für die Heiden und zur Verherrlichung deines Volkes Israel!
33 Und Joseph und seine Mutter verwunderten sich über das, was über ihn gesagt wurde.
34 Und Simeon segnete sie und sprach zu Maria, seiner Mutter: Siehe, dieser ist gesetzt zum Fall und zum Auferstehen vieler in Israel und zu einem Zeichen, dem widersprochen wird —
35 aber auch dir selbst wird ein Schwert durch die Seele dringen —, damit aus vielen Herzen die Gedanken geoffenbart werden.
36 Und da war auch Hanna, eine Prophetin, die Tochter Phanuels, aus dem Stamm Asser, die war hochbetagt und hatte nach ihrer Jungfrauschaft mit ihrem Mann sieben Jahre gelebt;
37 und sie war eine Witwe von etwa 84 Jahren; die wich nicht vom Tempel, sondern diente [Gott] mit Fasten und Beten Tag und Nacht.
38 Auch diese trat zu derselben Stunde hinzu und pries den Herrn und redete von ihm zu allen, die auf die Erlösung warteten in Jerusalem.
Die Rückkehr nach Nazareth
39 Und nachdem sie alles vollbracht hatten nach dem Gesetz des Herrn, kehrten sie zurück nach Galiläa, in ihre Stadt Nazareth.
40 Das Kind aber wuchs und wurde stark im Geist, erfüllt mit Weisheit, und Gottes Gnade war auf ihm.

22 Amikor leteltek a tisztulásnak a Mózes törvényében megszabott napjai, felvitték Jézust Jeruzsálembe, hogy bemutassák az Úrnak,
23 amint meg van írva az Úr törvényében, hogy "minden elsőszülött fiúmagzat az Úrnak szenteltessék;"
24 és hogy áldozatot adjanak az Úr törvényében foglalt rendelkezés szerint: "egy pár gerlicét vagy két galambfiókát."
25 Íme, élt egy ember Jeruzsálemben, akinek Simeon volt a neve. Igaz és kegyes ember volt, várta Izráel vigasztalását, és a Szentlélek volt rajta.
26 Azt a kijelentést kapta a Szentlélektől, hogy nem hal meg addig, amíg meg nem látja az Úr Krisztusát.

40 A gyermek pedig növekedett és erősödött, megtelt bölcsességgel, és az Isten kegyelme volt rajta.
