Mujeres que acompañan a Jesús
8 Más tarde, Jesús andaba recorriendo pueblos y aldeas, proclamando la buena noticia del reino de Dios. Lo acompañaban los Doce 2 y algunas mujeres a quienes había liberado de espíritus malignos y de otras enfermedades: María, llamada Magdalena, de la que Jesús había hecho salir siete demonios; 3 Juana, la mujer de Cusa, administrador de Herodes; Susana y muchas otras. Todas ellas ayudaban con sus propios recursos a Jesús y sus discípulos.
Parábola del sembrador (Mt 13,1-17; Mc 4,1-9)
4 En cierta ocasión, habiéndose reunido mucha gente que acudía a Jesús procedente de todos los pueblos, les contó esta parábola:
5 — Un sembrador salió a sembrar su semilla. Al lanzar la semilla, una parte cayó al borde del camino, donde fue pisoteada y los pájaros se la comieron. 6 Otra parte cayó sobre piedras y, apenas brotó, se secó porque no tenía humedad. 7 Otra parte de la semilla cayó en medio de los cardos, y los cardos, al crecer juntamente con ella, la sofocaron. 8 Otra parte, en fin, cayó en tierra fértil, y brotó y dio fruto al ciento por uno.
Dicho esto, Jesús añadió:
— Quien pueda entender esto, que lo entienda.
9 Los discípulos le preguntaron por el significado de esta parábola. 10 Jesús les contestó:
— A vosotros, Dios os permite conocer los secretos de su reino, pero a los demás les hablo por medio de parábolas, para que, aunque miren, no vean, y aunque escuchen, no entiendan.
Explicación de la parábola (Mt 13,18-23; Mc 4,13-20)
11 Este es el significado de la parábola: La semilla es el mensaje de Dios. 12 La parte que cayó al borde del camino representa a aquellos que oyen el mensaje, pero llega el diablo y se lo arrebata del corazón para que no crean y se salven. 13 La semilla que cayó sobre piedras representa a los que escuchan el mensaje y lo reciben con alegría; pero son tan superficiales que, aunque de momento creen, en cuanto llegan las dificultades abandonan. 14 La semilla que cayó entre los cardos representa a los que escuchan el mensaje, pero preocupados sólo por los problemas, las riquezas y los placeres de esta vida, se desentienden y no llegan a dar fruto. 15 Por último, la semilla que cayó en tierra fértil representa a los que oyen el mensaje con una disposición acogedora y recta, lo guardan con corazón noble y bueno, y dan fruto por su constancia.
El ejemplo de la lámpara (Mt 5,15; 10,26; 13,12; Mc 4,21-25)
16 Nadie enciende una lámpara y la tapa con una vasija o la mete debajo de la cama, sino que la pone en el candelero para que alumbre a todos los que entren en la casa. 17 Pues nada hay escondido que no haya de ser descubierto, ni hay nada hecho en secreto que no haya de conocerse y salir a la luz.
18 Prestad mucha atención, porque al que tenga algo, aun se le dará más; pero al que no tenga nada, hasta lo que crea tener se le quitará.
La verdadera familia de Jesús (Mt 12,46-50; Mc 3,31-35)
19 En cierta ocasión fueron a ver a Jesús su madre y sus hermanos; pero se había reunido tanta gente que no podían llegar hasta él. 20 Alguien le pasó aviso:
— Tu madre y tus hermanos están ahí fuera, y quieren verte.
21 Jesús contestó:
— Mi madre y mis hermanos son todos los que escuchan el mensaje de Dios y lo ponen en práctica.
Jesús apacigua una tempestad (Mt 8,23-27; Mc 4,35-41)
22 Un día, subió Jesús a una barca, junto con sus discípulos, y les dijo:
— Vamos a la otra orilla.
Y se adentraron en el lago. 23 Mientras navegaban, Jesús se quedó dormido. De pronto, una tormenta huracanada se desencadenó sobre el lago. Como la barca se llenaba de agua y corrían grave peligro, 24 los discípulos se acercaron a Jesús y lo despertaron, diciendo:
— ¡Maestro, Maestro, que estamos a punto de perecer!
Entonces Jesús, incorporándose, increpó al viento y al oleaje; estos se apaciguaron en seguida y el lago quedó en calma. 25 Después dijo Jesús a los discípulos:
— ¿Dónde está vuestra fe?
Pero ellos, llenos de miedo y asombro, se preguntaban unos a otros:
— ¿Quién es este, que da órdenes a los vientos y al agua y lo obedecen?
Curación del endemoniado geraseno (Mt 8,28-34; Mc 5,1-20)
26 Después de esto arribaron a la región de Gerasa que está frente a Galilea. 27 En cuanto Jesús saltó a tierra, salió a su encuentro un hombre procedente de la ciudad. Estaba poseído por demonios, y desde hacía bastante tiempo andaba desnudo y no vivía en su casa, sino en el cementerio. 28 Al ver a Jesús, se puso de rodillas delante de él gritando con todas sus fuerzas:
— ¡Déjame en paz, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo! ¡Te suplico que no me atormentes!
29 Es que Jesús había ordenado al espíritu impuro que saliera de aquel hombre, pues muchas veces le provocaba violentos arrebatos; y a pesar de que habían intentado sujetarlo con cadenas y grilletes, él rompía las ataduras y se escapaba a lugares desiertos empujado por el demonio. 30 Jesús le preguntó:
— ¿Cómo te llamas?
Él le contestó:
— Me llamo “Legión”.
Porque eran muchos los demonios que habían entrado en él. 31 Y rogaban a Jesús que no los mandara volver al abismo. 32 Había allí una considerable piara de cerdos paciendo por el monte; los demonios rogaron a Jesús que les permitiera entrar en los cerdos; y Jesús se lo permitió. 33 Entonces los demonios salieron del hombre y entraron en los cerdos. Al instante, la piara se lanzó pendiente abajo hasta el lago, donde los cerdos se ahogaron.
34 Cuando los porquerizos vieron lo sucedido, salieron huyendo y lo contaron en la ciudad y en sus alrededores. 35 La gente fue allá a ver lo que había pasado y, cuando llegaron adonde se encontraba Jesús, hallaron sentado a sus pies al hombre del que había expulsado los demonios, que ahora estaba vestido y en su cabal juicio. Todos se llenaron de miedo. 36 Los testigos del hecho les contaron cómo había sido salvado el poseído por el demonio. 37 Y toda la gente que habitaba en la región de Gerasa rogaba a Jesús que se apartara de ellos, porque el pánico los dominaba.
Jesús, entonces, subió de nuevo a la barca y emprendió el regreso. 38 El hombre del que había expulsado los demonios le rogaba que le permitiera acompañarlo; pero Jesús lo despidió, diciéndole:
39 — Vuelve a tu casa y cuenta todo lo que Dios ha hecho contigo.
El hombre se marchó y fue proclamando por toda la ciudad lo que Jesús había hecho con él.
La hija de Jairo. La mujer enferma (Mt 9,18-26; Mc 5,21-43)
40 Cuando Jesús regresó, la gente lo recibió con alegría, pues todo el mundo estaba esperándolo. 41 En esto llegó un hombre llamado Jairo, jefe de la sinagoga, el cual se postró a los pies de Jesús rogándole que fuera a su casa 42 porque su única hija, de unos doce años de edad, estaba muriéndose. Mientras Jesús se dirigía allá, la gente se apiñaba a su alrededor.
43 Entonces, una mujer que padecía hemorragias desde hacía doce años y que había gastado toda su fortuna en médicos, sin lograr que ninguno la curase, 44 se acercó a Jesús por detrás y le tocó el borde del manto. En aquel mismo instante se detuvo su hemorragia. 45 Jesús preguntó:
— ¿Quién me ha tocado?
Todos negaban haberlo hecho, y Pedro le dijo:
— Maestro, es la gente que te rodea y casi te aplasta.
46 Pero Jesús insistió:
— Alguien me ha tocado, porque he sentido que un poder [curativo] salía de mí.
47 Al ver la mujer que no podía ocultarse, fue temblando a arrodillarse a los pies de Jesús y, en presencia de todos, declaró por qué lo había tocado y cómo había quedado curada instantáneamente. 48 Jesús le dijo:
— Hija, tu fe te ha salvado. Vete en paz.
49 Aún estaba hablando Jesús, cuando llegó uno de casa del jefe de la sinagoga a decirle a este:
— Tu hija ha muerto. No molestes más al Maestro.
50 Pero Jesús, que lo había oído, le dijo a Jairo:
— No tengas miedo. ¡Sólo ten fe, y ella se salvará!
51 Fueron, pues, a la casa, y Jesús entró, sin permitir que nadie lo acompañara, excepto Pedro, Juan, Santiago y los padres de la niña. 52 Todos estaban llorando y haciendo duelo por la muerte de la niña. Jesús les dijo:
— No lloréis, pues no está muerta; está dormida.
53 Pero todos se burlaban de Jesús porque sabían que la niña había muerto. 54 Jesús, tomándola de la mano, exclamó:
— ¡Muchacha, levántate!
55 Y el espíritu volvió a la niña, que al instante se levantó. Y Jesús ordenó que le dieran de comer. 56 Los padres se quedaron atónitos, pero Jesús les encargó que no contaran a nadie lo que había sucedido.

Mga Babaing Kasama ni Jesus
8 Pagkatapos nito, nagtungo si Jesus sa bawat lungsod at nayon at sa mga lugar na iyon ay nangangaral at naghahayag ng mabuting balita ng paghahari ng Diyos. Kasama niya ang labindalawa, 2 at ilang babaing pinagaling niya sa masasamang espiritu at karamdaman. Kabilang dito si Maria na kung tawagin ay Magdalena. Pitong demonyo ang pinalayas mula sa kanya. 3 Kasama rin si Juana na asawa ni Chuza na katiwala ni Herodes, si Susana at iba pang mga babaing nag-abot ng tulong sa kanila mula sa kanilang mga pag-aari.
Ang Talinghaga ng Manghahasik(A)
4 Nang dumating ang napakaraming tao at lumapit kay Jesus ang mga tao mula sa bawat bayan, nangusap siya sa kanila sa pamamagitan ng isang talinghaga. 5 “Lumabas ang manghahasik upang magsaboy ng kanyang binhi. Sa kanyang paghahasik, may mga binhing nalaglag sa tabi ng daan. Natapakan ang mga ito at tinuka ng mga ibon. 6 Ang iba naman ay nalaglag sa batuhan. Tumubo ang mga ito, ngunit dahil kulang sa halumigmig, ay agad na natuyo. 7 Ang iba pa ay nalaglag sa gitna ng tinikan at sa kanilang paglaki ay sinakal ng mga tinik na lumaking kasama nila. 8 Ngunit ang iba ay nalaglag sa mabuting lupa, tumubo at sa paglaki ng mga ito ay namunga ng sandaan.” Pagkasabi niya nito, siya ay nanawagan, “Ang may pandinig ay makinig.”
Ang Layunin ng mga Talinghaga(B)
9 Tinanong si Jesus ng kanyang mga alagad kung ano ang kahulugan ng talinghagang ito. 10 Kaya't sinabi niya sa kanila, “Ipinagkaloob sa inyo na malaman ang hiwaga ng paghahari ng Diyos, ngunit sa iba ay sa talinghaga ako mangungusap. Kaya't sa pagtingin ay hindi sila makakakita at sa pakikinig ay hindi sila makauunawa.”

11 “Ngayon, ito ang kahulugan ng talinghaga. Ang binhi ay ang salita ng Diyos. 12 Ang mga nalaglag sa daan ay ang mga nakarinig, ngunit nang dumating ang diyablo ay inagaw nito ang salita mula sa kanilang puso upang hindi sila sumampalataya at maligtas. 13 Ang mga nalaglag naman sa batuhan ay ang mga nakarinig sa salita at tumanggap dito nang may kagalakan. Ngunit sa kawalan ng ugat, sandali lamang sila nanampalataya at tumalikod sa panahon ng pagsubok. 14 Ang mga napadpad sa tinikan ay ang mga nakarinig ngunit sa kanilang pagpapatuloy ay sinakal ng kabalisahan, mga kayamanan at mga layaw ng buhay kaya't hindi nahinog ang kanilang bunga. 15 Ngunit ang mga nalaglag sa mabuting lupa ay iyong mga nakarinig ng salita at iningatan ito sa kanilang puso nang may katapatan at kabutihan kaya nagbunga ang kanilang pagtitiyaga.”
Ang Ilawan sa Ilalim ng Takalan(D)
16 “Walang nagsindi ng ilawan at pagkatapos ay magtatago nito sa takalan o kaya ay ilalagay sa ilalim ng higaan. Sa halip, ito ay ilalagay niya sa lalagyan upang makakita ng liwanag ang mga papasok. 17 Sapagkat walang nakatago na hindi magiging hayag, ni walang lihim na hindi malalaman at mabubunyag. 18 Kaya mag-ingat kung paano kayo nakikinig, sapagkat ang mayroon ay pagkakalooban pa, ngunit ang wala, kahit ang inaakala niyang kanya ay kukunin pa sa kanya.”
Ang Ina at ang mga Kapatid ni Jesus(E)
19 Pumunta kay Jesus ang kanyang ina at mga kapatid na lalaki ngunit hindi sila makalapit sa kanya dahil sa dami ng tao. 20 Kaya't may nagsabi sa kanya, “Nasa labas po ang inyong ina at mga kapatid na lalaki. Gusto nila kayong makita.” 21 Ngunit sinabi niya sa kanila, “Ang aking ina at mga kapatid na lalaki ay ang mga nakikinig at tumutupad sa salita ng Diyos.”
Pinayapa ni Jesus ang Unos(F)
22 Isang araw, sumakay si Jesus at ang kanyang mga alagad sa isang bangka. Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Tumawid tayo sa kabilang pampang ng lawa.” At naglayag naman sila. 23 Sa kanilang paglalakbay ay nakatulog siya. Bumugso ang isang unos at napuno ng tubig ang bangka at sila ay nanganib. 24 Kaya't nilapitan nila siya at ginising, “Guro! Guro! Mamamatay na tayo!” Gumising siya at sinaway niya ang hangin at ang mga nagngangalit na alon sa lawa. Humupa naman ang mga ito at pumayapa. 25 Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Nasaan ang inyong pananampalataya?” Natakot sila at namangha, at sinabi sa isa't isa, “Sino nga kaya ito, at nauutusan niya maging ang hangin at tubig, at sila'y sumusunod sa kanya?”
Pinagaling ni Jesus ang Lalaking Sinaniban ng Demonyo(G)
26 Si Jesus at ang mga alagad ay naglayag patungo sa bayan ng mga Geraseno,[a] na nasa tapat ng Galilea. 27 Pagdating niya sa lupaing iyon, sinalubong siya ng isang lalaking tagaroon na sinasaniban ng mga demonyo. Matagal na itong hindi nagsusuot ng damit at hindi tumitira sa bahay kundi sa mga libingan. 28 Nagsisigaw ito nang makita si Jesus, at nagpatirapa sa harap niya at sinabi nang malakas, “Ano ang pakialam mo sa akin Jesus, Anak ng Kataas-taasang Diyos? Nakikiusap ako na huwag mo akong pahirapan.” 29 Sinabi ito sapagkat ipinag-utos ni Jesus sa maruming espiritu na lumabas sa lalaki. Madalas na itong sumasanib sa kanya. Iginapos na rin siya ng kadena nang may bantay at tinalian ng bakal sa paa ngunit napapatid pa rin niya ang mga ito at itinataboy siya ng demonyo sa ilang. 30 Tinanong siya ni Jesus, “Ano ang pangalan mo?” “Lehiyon,” ang sagot niya, sapagkat maraming demonyo ang pumasok sa kanya. 31 Nakiusap ang mga ito na huwag silang utusang bumalik sa walang hanggang kalaliman. 32 Noon ay may kawan ng baboy na nanginginain sa burol. Nakiusap ang mga demonyo kay Jesus na hayaan silang makapasok sa mga iyon at sila nama'y hinayaan niya. 33 Pagkalabas ng mga demonyo sa lalaki ay pumasok ang mga ito sa mga baboy. Sumibad pababa sa bangin ang kawan patungong lawa at nalunod. 34 Pagkakita ng mga tagapag-alaga sa nangyari ay tumakas sila at ipinamalita iyon sa bayan at sa kabukiran. 35 Naglabasan sila upang makita ang nangyari. At lumapit sila kay Jesus at nakita nila ang lalaking sinaniban ng masasamang espiritu na nakaupo sa paanan ni Jesus, nakadamit, at nasa matino nang pag-iisip; at sila'y natakot. 36 Ibinalita sa kanila ng mga nakakita kung paano pinagaling ang sinaniban ng demonyo. 37 Nagmakaawa kay Jesus ang lahat ng tao sa paligid ng bayan ng mga Geraseno[b] na sila ay iwan niya sapagkat matinding takot ang bumalot sa kanila. Kaya sumakay siya sa bangka upang umuwi. 38 Subalit nakiusap ang lalaking iniwan ng mga demonyo na siya ay makasama ngunit hindi ito pinaunlakan ni Jesus at sa halip ay sinabi, 39 “Umuwi ka sa iyong bahay at isalaysay mo ang mga ginawa ng Diyos sa iyo.” At siya ay humayo at ipinahayag sa buong lungsod ang mga ginawa sa kanya ni Jesus.
Ang Anak ni Jairo at ang Babaing Humipo sa Damit ni Jesus(H)
40 Pagbalik ni Jesus, tinanggap siya ng mga tao sapagkat lahat sila ay naghihintay sa kanya. 41 Dumating ang isang lalaking nagngangalang Jairo. Siya ay pinuno ng sinagoga. Nagpatirapa siya sa paanan ni Jesus at nakiusap sa kanyang pumunta sa kanyang bahay 42 sapagkat ang kaisa-isa niyang anak na babaing labindalawang taong gulang ay naghihingalo.
Habang paalis na si Jesus, nagigitgit siya ng mga tao. 43 Isang babae roon ang labindalawang taon nang dinudugo. Nagugol na niya ang lahat ng kanyang kabuhayan sa manggagamot.[c] Hindi na siya kayang pagalingin ninuman. 44 Lumapit siya sa likuran ni Jesus at hinipo ang laylayan ng damit nito. Agad tumigil ang kanyang pagdurugo. 45 Sinabi ni Jesus, “Sino ang humipo sa akin?” Nang walang umaamin ay sinabi ni Pedro, “Panginoon, sinisiksik ka ng mga tao at napapalibutan.” 46 Ngunit sinabi pa rin ni Jesus, “May humipo sa akin sapagkat alam kong may lumabas na kapangyarihan sa akin.” 47 Nang makita ng babae na hindi lingid ang kanyang ginawa, nanginginig itong lumapit at nagpatirapa sa paanan ni Jesus. Sinabi niya sa harap ng mga taong naroroon kung bakit niya hinawakan si Jesus at kung paanong gumaling siya agad. 48 Kaya sinabi ni Jesus sa babae, “Anak, pinagaling ka ng iyong pananampalataya. Humayo kang panatag ang kalooban.” 49 Nagsasalita pa siya nang dumating ang isang mula sa bahay ng pinuno ng sinagoga at nagsabing, “Patay na ang iyong anak! Huwag mo nang gambalain ang Guro.” 50 Ngunit pagkarinig dito ni Jesus ay sinabi niya kay Jairo, “Huwag kang mangamba! Sumampalataya ka lang at siya ay gagaling.” 51 Pagkarating niya sa bahay ay hindi niya pinayagan ang sinumang makapasok na kasama niya maliban kina Pedro, Juan at Santiago at ang ama at ina ng bata. 52 Nag-iiyakan ang lahat at nananaghoy. Ngunit sinabi niya, “Huwag kayong umiyak sapagkat hindi siya patay kundi natutulog lang.” 53 Siya'y kanilang pinagtawanan sapagkat alam nilang patay na ang bata. 54 Nang hawakan niya ang kamay nito ay tumawag at nagsabi, “Ineng, bumangon ka!” 55 At bumalik ang espiritu ng bata at bumangon ito agad. Kaya nag-utos si Jesus na pakainin ito. 56 Namangha ang kanyang mga magulang subalit pinagbilinan sila ni Jesus na huwag sabihin kaninuman ang nangyari.

The Parable of the Sower(A)
8 After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God.(B) The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene)(C) from whom seven demons had come out; 3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s(D) household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.
4 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: 5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”
When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”(E)
9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you,(F) but to others I speak in parables, so that,
11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.(H) 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.(I) 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches(J) and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
A Lamp on a Stand
16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.(K) 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.(L) 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”(M)
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers(N)
19 Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers(O) are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
21 He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”(P)
Jesus Calms the Storm(Q)(R)
22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. 23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master,(S) we’re going to drown!”
He got up and rebuked(T) the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.(U) 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.
In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man(V)(W)
26 They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes,[b] which is across the lake from Galilee. 27 When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me,(X) Jesus, Son of the Most High God?(Y) I beg you, don’t torture me!” 29 For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.
30 Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
“Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him. 31 And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.(Z)
32 A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission. 33 When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake(AA) and was drowned.
34 When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, 35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet,(AB) dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 36 Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed(AC) man had been cured. 37 Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them,(AD) because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.
38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.
Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman(AE)
40 Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. 41 Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader,(AF) came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.
As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding(AG) for twelve years,[c] but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak,(AH) and immediately her bleeding stopped.
45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.
When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master,(AI) the people are crowding and pressing against you.”
46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me;(AJ) I know that power has gone out from me.”(AK)
47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.(AL) Go in peace.”(AM)
49 While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.(AN) “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”
50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”
51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James,(AO) and the child’s father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning(AP) for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”(AQ)
53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!”(AR) 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.(AS)
