Gin-ayo ni Jesus ang Suluguon sang Kapitan(A)
7 Pagkatapos panudlo ni Jesus sa mga tawo, nagkadto siya sa Capernaum. 2 May kapitan didto sang mga soldado nga Romanhon nga may ulipon nga nagamasakit kag daw mapatay na. Palangga gid niya ang iya ulipon. 3 Gani pagkabati sang kapitan parte kay Jesus, ginsugo niya ang pila ka manugdumala sang mga Judio sa pagpangabay kay Jesus nga magkadto didto sa iya balay kag ayuhon ang iya ulipon. 4 Pag-abot nila kay Jesus nagpakitluoy gid sila sa iya. Nagsiling sila, “Kon mahimo buligi ang kapitan, kay maayo gid siya nga tawo. 5 Palangga niya kita nga mga Judio kag nagpatindog pa gani siya sang simbahan para sa aton.”
6 Gani nag-upod si Jesus sa ila. Sang malapit na sila sa balay sang kapitan, ginsugo sang kapitan ang pila ka amigo niya agod sugataon si Jesus kag silingon, “Ginoo, indi na pagpabudlayi ang imo kaugalingon. Indi ako takos nga magpasulod sa imo sa akon balay. 7 Amo gani nga indi ako ang nagkadto sa imo kay indi ako takos nga magpalapit sa imo. Maghambal ka lang kag magaayo ang akon suluguon. 8 Nahibaluan ko ini tungod kay ako sa idalom man sang mga opisyal, kag may mga soldado man sa idalom ko. Gani kon magmando ako sa isa, ‘lakat,’ nagalakat siya, kag kon magmando ako sa isa, ‘kadto diri,’ nagakadto siya. Kag kon ano ang akon ginasugo sa akon ulipon, ginahimo niya.” 9 Pagkabati sadto ni Jesus natingala gid siya. Nag-atubang siya sa mga tawo nga nagaupod sa iya kag nagsiling, “Wala pa gid ako nakakita sang tawo sa Israel nga may pagtuo nga pareho sini.” 10 Ang mga ginpadala sang kapitan nagbalik sa iya balay kag pag-abot nila, nakita nila nga maayo na ang ulipon.
Ginbanhaw ni Jesus ang Anak sang Balo nga Babayi
11 Sang wala madugay nagkadto si Jesus sa banwa sang Nain. Nag-upod sa iya ang iya mga sumulunod kag ang madamo nga mga tawo. 12 Sang malapit na sila sa puwertahan sang banwa sang Nain, nasugata nila ang madamo nga mga tawo nga nagakumpanyar. Ang napatay bugtong nga anak sang balo nga babayi. 13 Pagkakita ni Ginoong Jesus sa iloy sang napatay, naluoy gid siya. Siling niya, “Indi ka maghibi.” 14 Dayon nagpalapit si Jesus sa ginakargahan sang patay kag gintandog niya agod magpundo ang mga nagadala sini. Nagsiling si Jesus sa patay, “Noy, magbangon ka!” 15 Nagbangon ang patay, nagpungko kag naghambal. Dayon ginhatag siya ni Jesus sa iya iloy. 16 Sang makita ato sang mga tawo natingala gid sila, kag gindayaw nila ang Dios. Nagsiling sila, “Gindumdom sang Dios ang iya katawhan. Ginhatagan niya kita sang gamhanan nga propeta.” 17 Ang balita parte sa ginhimo ni Jesus naglapnag sa bug-os nga Judea kag sa tanan nga lugar sa palibot sini.
Si Jesus kag si Juan nga Manugbautiso(B)
18 Ini tanan nga hitabo ginbalita kay Juan sang iya mga sumulunod. 19 Gani gintawag ni Juan ang duha sang iya mga sumulunod kag ginsugo niya nga magkadto sa Ginoo sa pagpamangkot, “Ikaw bala ang amon ginapaabot ukon mahulat pa kami sang iban?” 20-21 Gani nagkadto sila kay Jesus. Pag-abot nila didto madamo ang ginapang-ayo ni Jesus nga mga masakiton, bisan ang mga grabe gid nga mga balatian, kag ang mga ginagamhan sang malaot nga espiritu. Madamo man nga mga bulag ang iya ginpang-ayo. Karon, nagpamangkot kay Jesus ang duha ka sumulunod ni Juan. Siling nila, “Ginsugo kami ni Juan nga manugbautiso sa pagpamangkot sa imo kon ikaw bala ang amon ginapaabot ukon mahulat pa kami sang iban?” 22 Ginsabat sila ni Jesus, “Magbalik kamo kay Juan kag sugiri ninyo siya sang inyo nakita kag nabatian. Sugiri ninyo siya nga ang mga bulag nakakita, ang mga piang nakalakat, ang mga may delikado nga balatian sa panit[a] nag-ayo kag nakabig na nga matinlo, ang mga bungol nakabati, ang mga patay nabanhaw, kag ang Maayong Balita ginawali sa mga imol. 23 Bulahan ang mga tawo nga wala nagaduhaduha sa akon.”[b]
24 Sang makahalin na ang mga ginsugo ni Juan, nagpamangkot si Jesus sa mga tawo, “Sang pagkadto ninyo kay Juan sa kamingawan, ano ang inyo ginapaabot nga makita? Nagkadto bala kamo didto agod makita ninyo ang tawo nga nagapaayon-ayon lang pareho sang kugon nga ginahapay-hapay sang hangin? 25 Ukon nagkadto bala kamo didto agod makita ninyo ang tawo nga nagabayo sang malahalon? Pero ang mga nagabayo sang malahalon kag nagapagusto sang ila pangabuhi nagaestar sa mga palasyo. 26 Abi sugiri ninyo ako kon ngaa nagkadto kamo didto. Indi bala para makita ninyo ang isa ka propeta? Huo, kag labaw pa gani siya sa propeta. 27 Kay siya amo ang ginasiling sang Dios sa Kasulatan, ‘Ipadala ko ang akon mensahero una sa imo sa pagpreparar sang imo alagyan.’ ”[c] 28 Nagsiling pa gid si Jesus, “Sa pagkamatuod, hasta subong wala pa gid sing may natawo nga maglabaw pa kay Juan. Pero karon ang bisan sin-o nga labing kubos sa mga nagapasakop sa paghari sang Dios mas labaw pa kay Juan.”
29 Pagkabati sang mga tawo, pati sang mga manugsukot sang buhis sa mga pagpanudlo ni Jesus, nagkomporme sila sa ginapahimo sang Dios, kay ini sila nagpabautiso na kay Juan. 30 Pero ang mga Pariseo kag ang mga manunudlo sang Kasuguan wala nagkomporme sa katuyuan sang Dios para sa ila, kay ini sila wala magpabautiso kay Juan.
31 Nagsiling pa gid si Jesus, “Sa ano ko bala ipaanggid ang mga tawo sa sini nga henerasyon? 32 Pareho sila sa mga bata nga nagapungko sa plasa nga nagahampang. Ang isa ka grupo nagasiling sa isa, ‘Gintukaran namon kamo sang sunata nga para sa kasal, pero wala kamo magsaot. Ginkantahan namon kamo sang kanta nga para sa patay, pero wala man kamo maghibi!’ 33 Kamo pareho man sa ila, kay sang pag-abot ni Juan, nakita ninyo nga nagapuasa siya kag wala nagainom sang bino, gani nagasiling kamo nga may malaot siya nga espiritu. 34 Kag ako nga Anak sang Tawo, pag-abot ko, nakita ninyo nga nagakaon kag nagainom, gani nagasiling kamo nga palakaon ako kag palainom. Nagasiling man kamo nga abyan ako sang mga manugsukot sang buhis kag sang iban pa nga mga makasasala. 35 Pero indi bali, ang mga tawo nga nagasunod sa kabubut-on sang Dios nagakomporme nga husto ang ginapahimo sang Dios sa amon.”[d]
Si Jesus sa Balay ni Simon nga Pariseo
36 Karon, may isa ka Pariseo nga nag-agda kay Jesus nga magkaon sa iya balay. Gani nagkadto si Jesus kag nagkaon didto. 37 Sa sina nga banwa may isa ka babayi nga kilala gid nga makasasala. Pagkabati niya nga didto si Jesus sa balay sang Pariseo nagkadto man siya didto. May dala siya nga pahamot nga nasulod sa tibod-tibod nga hinimo halin sa bato nga alabastro. 38 Nagpalapit siya sa likod ni Jesus, sa may tiilan dampi.[e] Kag didto nagahibi siya nga nagatulo ang iya mga luha sa tiil ni Jesus. Ginpahiran niya ini sang iya buhok kag ginhalukan. Pagkatapos ginbubuan niya sang pahamot ang tiil ni Jesus.
39 Sang pagkakita sadto sang Pariseo nga nag-agda kay Jesus, nagsiling siya sa iya kaugalingon, “Kon ini nga tawo matuod nga propeta, kuntani nahibaluan niya kon sin-o kag kon ano nga klase sang babayi ang nagatandog sa iya, kay ang babayi nga ina makasasala.” 40 Pero nahibaluan ni Jesus kon ano ang ara sa iya hunahuna, gani nagsiling siya, “Simon, may isugid ako sa imo.” Nagsabat si Simon, “Ano ina, manunudlo?” 41 Nagsiling si Jesus, “May duha ka tawo nga nag-utang sang kuwarta sa manugpautang. Ang isa nag-utang 500, kag ang isa 50. 42 Sang ulihi, tungod nga indi sila makabayad, wala na lang sila pagpabayara sang nagpautang sa ila. Ti, sin-o ayhan sa ila nga duha ang magahigugma sing labi sa ila nautangan?” 43 Nagsabat si Simon, “Siguro ang may dako nga utang.” Nagsiling si Jesus, “Husto ang imo sabat.” 44 Dayon ginbalikid niya ang babayi kag nagsiling kay Simon, “Nakita mo bala ang ginhimo sang babayi nga ini? Pagsulod ko diri sa imo balay wala mo ako paghatagi sang tubig nga inughugas sa akon tiil. Pero ang babayi nga ini, ginhugasan niya ang akon tiil paagi sa iya luha, kag ang iya buhok amo pa ang ginhimo niya nga inugpahid. 45 Wala mo ako paghaluki bilang pag-abiabi. Pero ini nga babayi, halin pa sang akon pag-abot diri wala untat ang iya paghalok sa akon tiil. 46 Wala mo pagpatului sang lana ang akon ulo bilang pagbaton mo sa akon, pero ini nga babayi, ang malahalon gid nga pahamot ang iya ginbubo sa akon tiil. 47 Gani sugiran ko ikaw, nga ang dako nga gugma nga ginpakita niya sa akon nagapamatuod nga ang iya madamo nga sala ginpatawad na; pero sa tawo nga diutay lang ang sala nga ginpatawad, diutay lang ang paghigugma nga iya ginapakita.” 48 Naghambal dayon si Jesus sa babayi, “Ginpatawad na ang imo mga sala.” 49 Ang mga nagakaon kaupod ni Jesus nagsiling sa ila kaugalingon, “Sin-o bala ini nga bisan ang mga sala mapatawad niya?” 50 Dayon nagsiling si Jesus sa babayi, “Ang imo pagtuo nagluwas sa imo. Magpauli ka nga may kalinong.”

La victoire sur la mort(A)
7 Après avoir dit au peuple tout ce qu’il avait à lui dire, Jésus se rendit à Capernaüm.
2 Un officier romain avait un esclave malade, qui était sur le point de mourir. Or, son maître tenait beaucoup à lui. 3 Quand il entendit parler de Jésus, l’officier envoya auprès de lui quelques responsables juifs pour le supplier de venir guérir son esclave. 4 Ils vinrent trouver Jésus et ils le prièrent instamment : Cet homme, disaient-ils, mérite vraiment que tu lui accordes cette faveur. 5 En effet, il aime notre peuple : il a même fait bâtir notre synagogue à ses frais.
6 Jésus partit avec eux. Il n’était plus qu’à une faible distance de la maison quand l’officier envoya des amis pour lui dire : Seigneur, ne te donne pas tant de peine, car je ne remplis pas les conditions[a] pour te recevoir dans ma maison. 7 C’est la raison pour laquelle je n’ai pas osé venir en personne te trouver. Mais, dis un mot et mon serviteur sera guéri. 8 Car, moi-même, je suis un officier subalterne, mais j’ai des soldats sous mes ordres, et quand je dis à l’un : « Va ! », il va. Quand je dis à un autre : « Viens ! », il vient. Quand je dis à mon esclave : « Fais ceci ! », il le fait.
9 En entendant ces paroles, Jésus fut rempli d’admiration pour cet officier : il se tourna vers la foule qui le suivait et dit : Je vous l’assure, nulle part en Israël, je n’ai trouvé une telle foi !
10 Les envoyés de l’officier s’en retournèrent alors à la maison où ils trouvèrent l’esclave en bonne santé.
11 Ensuite[b], Jésus se rendit dans une ville appelée Naïn[c]. Ses disciples et une grande foule l’accompagnaient. 12 Comme il arrivait à la porte de la ville, il rencontra un convoi funèbre : on enterrait le fils unique d’une veuve. Beaucoup d’habitants de la ville suivaient le cortège. 13 Le Seigneur vit la veuve et il fut pris de pitié pour elle ; il lui dit : Ne pleure pas !
14 Puis il s’approcha de la civière et posa sa main sur elle. Les porteurs s’arrêtèrent.
– Jeune homme, dit-il, je te l’ordonne, lève-toi !
15 Le mort se redressa, s’assit et se mit à parler. Jésus le rendit à sa mère. 16 Saisis d’une profonde crainte, tous les assistants louaient Dieu et disaient : Un grand prophète est apparu parmi nous !
Et ils ajoutaient : Dieu est venu prendre soin de son peuple !
17 Cette déclaration concernant Jésus se répandit dans toute la Judée et dans les régions environnantes.
Jésus et Jean-Baptiste(B)
18 Jean fut informé par ses disciples de tout ce qui se passait. Il appela alors deux d’entre eux 19 et les envoya auprès du Seigneur pour demander : Es-tu celui qui devait venir[d], ou bien devons-nous en attendre un autre ?
20 Ces hommes se présentèrent à Jésus et lui dirent : C’est Jean-Baptiste qui nous envoie. Voici ce qu’il te fait demander : « Es-tu celui qui devait venir, ou bien devons-nous en attendre un autre ? »
21 Or, au moment où ils arrivaient, Jésus guérit plusieurs personnes de diverses maladies et infirmités. Il délivra des gens qui étaient sous l’emprise d’esprits mauvais et rendit la vue à plusieurs aveugles. 22 Il répondit alors aux envoyés : Retournez auprès de Jean et racontez-lui ce que vous avez vu et entendu : les aveugles voient, les paralysés marchent normalement, les lépreux sont purifiés, les sourds entendent, les morts ressuscitent, la Bonne Nouvelle est annoncée aux pauvres[e]. 23 Heureux celui qui ne perdra pas la foi à cause de moi !
24 Après le départ des messagers de Jean, Jésus saisit cette occasion pour parler de Jean à la foule : Qu’êtes-vous allés voir au désert ? Un roseau agité çà et là par le vent ? 25 Qui donc êtes-vous allés voir ? Un homme habillé avec élégance ? Ceux qui portent des habits somptueux et qui vivent dans le luxe habitent les palais royaux. 26 Mais qu’êtes-vous donc allés voir au désert ? Un prophète ? Oui, assurément, et même bien plus qu’un prophète, c’est moi qui vous le dis. 27 Car c’est celui dont il est écrit :
J’enverrai mon messager devant toi,
il te préparera le chemin[f] .
28 Je vous l’assure : parmi tous les hommes qui sont nés d’une femme, il n’y en a pas de plus grand que Jean. Et pourtant, le plus petit dans le royaume de Dieu est plus grand que lui.

29 Tous les gens du peuple et tous les collecteurs d’impôts qui ont écouté le message de Jean et se sont fait baptiser par lui ont reconnu que Dieu est juste. 30 Mais les pharisiens et les enseignants de la Loi, qui ont refusé de se faire baptiser par lui, ont rejeté la volonté de Dieu à leur égard.
31 A qui donc pourrais-je comparer les gens de notre temps ? A qui ressemblent-ils ? 32 Ils sont comme des enfants assis sur la place du marché qui se crient les uns aux autres :
Quand nous avons joué de la flûte,
vous n’avez pas dansé !
Et quand nous avons chanté des airs de deuil,
vous ne vous êtes pas mis à pleurer !
33 En effet, Jean-Baptiste est venu, il ne mangeait pas de pain, il ne buvait pas de vin. Qu’avez-vous dit alors ? « Il a un démon en lui ! ».
34 Le Fils de l’homme est venu, il mange et boit, et vous vous écriez : « Cet homme ne pense qu’à faire bonne chère et à boire du vin, il est l’ami des collecteurs d’impôts et des pécheurs notoires. »
35 Cependant, la sagesse de Dieu est reconnue comme telle par ceux qui la reçoivent.
L’amour, fruit du pardon
36 Un pharisien invita Jésus à manger. Jésus se rendit chez lui et se mit à table. 37 Survint une femme connue dans la ville pour sa vie dissolue. Comme elle avait appris que Jésus mangeait chez le pharisien, elle avait apporté un flacon d’albâtre[g] rempli de parfum. 38 Elle se tint derrière lui, à ses pieds[h]. Elle pleurait ; elle se mit à mouiller de ses larmes les pieds de Jésus ; alors elle les essuya avec ses cheveux et, en les embrassant, elle versait le parfum sur eux.
39 En voyant cela, le pharisien qui l’avait invité se dit : Si cet homme était vraiment un prophète, il saurait quelle est cette femme qui le touche, que c’est quelqu’un qui mène une vie dissolue.
40 Jésus lui répondit à haute voix : Simon, j’ai quelque chose à te dire.
– Oui, Maître, parle, répondit le pharisien.
41 – Il était une fois un prêteur à qui deux hommes devaient de l’argent. Le premier devait cinq cents pièces d’argent ; le second cinquante[i]. 42 Comme ni l’un ni l’autre n’avaient de quoi rembourser leur dette, il fit cadeau à tous deux de ce qu’ils lui devaient. A ton avis, lequel des deux l’aimera le plus ?
43 Simon répondit : Celui, je suppose, auquel il aura remis la plus grosse dette.
– Voilà qui est bien jugé, lui dit Jésus.
44 Puis, se tournant vers la femme, il reprit : Tu vois cette femme ? Eh bien, quand je suis entré dans ta maison, tu ne m’as pas apporté d’eau pour me laver les pieds[j] ; mais elle, elle me les a arrosés de ses larmes et les a essuyés avec ses cheveux. 45 Tu ne m’as pas accueilli en m’embrassant, mais elle, depuis que je suis entré, elle n’a cessé de couvrir mes pieds de baisers. 46 Tu n’as pas versé d’huile parfumée sur ma tête, mais elle, elle a versé du parfum sur mes pieds. 47 C’est pourquoi je te le dis : ses nombreux péchés lui ont été pardonnés, c’est pour cela qu’elle m’a témoigné tant d’amour. Mais celui qui a eu peu de choses à se faire pardonner ne manifeste que peu d’amour !
48 Puis il dit à la femme : Tes péchés te sont pardonnés.
49 Les autres invités se dirent en eux-mêmes : « Qui est donc cet homme qui ose pardonner les péchés ? »
50 Mais Jésus dit à la femme : Parce que tu as cru en moi, tu es sauvée ; va en paix.

The Faith of the Centurion(A)
7 When Jesus had finished saying all this(B) to the people who were listening, he entered Capernaum. 2 There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. 3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this, 5 because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.” 6 So Jesus went with them.
He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. 7 That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.(C) 8 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.” 10 Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.
Jesus Raises a Widow’s Son(D)
11 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12 As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord(E) saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
14 Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”(F) 15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 They were all filled with awe(G) and praised God.(H) “A great prophet(I) has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”(J) 17 This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.(K)
Jesus and John the Baptist(L)
18 John’s(M) disciples(N) told him about all these things. Calling two of them, 19 he sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
20 When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?’”
21 At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses(O) and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. 22 So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy[a] are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.(P) 23 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”
24 After John’s messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 25 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces. 26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet?(Q) Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 27 This is the one about whom it is written:
28 I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God(S) is greater than he.”
29 (All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John.(T) 30 But the Pharisees and the experts in the law(U) rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)
31 Jesus went on to say, “To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to each other:
“‘We played the pipe for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
and you did not cry.’
33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine,(V) and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’(W) 35 But wisdom is proved right by all her children.”
Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman(X)(Y)
36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet,(Z) he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
“Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii,[c] and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet,(AA) but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss,(AB) but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head,(AC) but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”(AD)
49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you;(AE) go in peace.”(AF)
