2 Anás y Caifás eran los sumos sacerdotes. En ese tiempo, Dios le habló en el desierto a Juan, el hijo de Zacarías. 3 Juan iba por toda la región del río Jordán, anunciándoles a todos que cambiaran su manera de pensar y de vivir, y que se bautizaran para que Dios les perdonara sus pecados. 4 Esto estaba de acuerdo con lo que había escrito el profeta Isaías:
«Alguien grita en el desierto:
“¡Preparen el camino para el Señor;
háganle caminos derechos!

2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

2 during (A)the high priesthood of Annas and (B)Caiaphas, (C)the word of God came to (D)John the son of Zechariah in (E)the wilderness. 3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming (F)a baptism of repentance (G)for the forgiveness of sins. 4 As it is written in (H)the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,
