22 ¶ Y estaba cerca el día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, que se llama la Pascua.
2 Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los escribas procuraban cómo matarle; mas tenían miedo del pueblo.
3 Y entró Satanás en Judas, por sobrenombre Iscariote, el cual era uno del número de los doce;
4 y fue, y habló con los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y con los capitanes, de cómo se lo entregaría.
5 Los cuales se alegraron, y concertaron de darle dinero.
6 Y prometió, y buscaba oportunidad para entregarle a ellos a espaldas del pueblo.
7 ¶ Y vino el día de los panes sin levadura, en el cual era necesario matar el cordero de la pascua.
8 Y envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciendo: Id, aparejadnos el cordero de la pascua para que comamos.
9 Y ellos le dijeron: ¿Dónde quieres que aparejemos?
10 Y él les dijo: He aquí cuando entrareis en la ciudad, os encontrará un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua; seguidle hasta la casa donde entrare,
11 y decid al padre de la familia de la casa: El Maestro te dice: ¿Dónde está el aposento donde tengo de comer el cordero de la pascua con mis discípulos?
12 Entonces él os mostrará un gran cenáculo aderezado; aparejad allí.
13 Fueron pues, y lo hallaron todo como les había dicho; y aparejaron el cordero de la pascua.
14 Cuando era la hora, se sentó a la mesa, y con él los doce apóstoles.
15 Y les dijo: En gran manera he deseado comer con vosotros este cordero de la pascua antes que padezca;
16 porque os digo que no comeré más de él, hasta que sea cumplido en el Reino de Dios.
17 Y tomando el vaso, habiendo dado gracias, dijo: Tomad esto, y partidlo entre vosotros;
18 Porque os digo, que no beberé más del fruto de la vid, hasta que el Reino de Dios venga.
19 Y tomando el pan, habiendo dado gracias, partió, y les dio, diciendo: Esto es mi cuerpo, que por vosotros es dado; haced esto en memoria de mí.
20 Asimismo también tomó y les dio el vaso, después que hubo cenado, diciendo: Este vaso es el Nuevo Testamento en mi sangre, que por vosotros se derrama.
21 ¶ Con todo eso, he aquí la mano del que me entrega, conmigo en la mesa.
22 Y a la verdad el Hijo del hombre va, según lo que está determinado; pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por el cual es entregado!
23 Ellos entonces comenzaron a preguntar entre sí, cuál de ellos sería el que había de hacer esto.
24 Y hubo entre ellos una contienda, quién de ellos parecía que había de ser el mayor.
25 Entonces él les dijo: Los reyes de los gentiles se enseñorean de ellos; y los que sobre ellos tienen potestad, son llamados bienhechores;
26 mas vosotros, no así; antes el que es mayor entre vosotros, sea como el más joven; y el que es príncipe, como el que sirve.
27 Porque, ¿cuál es mayor, el que se sienta a la mesa, o el que sirve? ¿No es el que se sienta a la mesa? Y yo soy entre vosotros como el que sirve.
28 Pero vosotros sois los que habéis permanecido conmigo en mis tentaciones.
29 Yo pues os ordeno el Reino, como mi Padre me lo ordenó a mí,
30 para que comáis y bebáis en mi mesa en mi Reino, y os sentéis sobre tronos juzgando a las doce tribus de Israel.
31 Dijo también el Señor: Simón, Simón, he aquí que Satanás os ha pedido para zarandearos como a trigo;
32 mas yo he rogado por ti que tu fe no falte; y tú, una vez convertido, confirma a tus hermanos.
33 Y él le dijo: Señor, aparejado estoy a ir contigo aun a cárcel y a muerte.
34 Y él dijo: Pedro, te digo que el gallo no cantará hoy antes que tú niegues tres veces que me conoces.
35 Y a ellos dijo: Cuando os envié sin bolsa, y sin alforja, y sin zapatos, ¿os faltó algo? Y ellos dijeron: Nada.
36 Y les dijo: Pues ahora, el que tiene bolsa, tómela, y también la alforja, y el que no tiene, venda su capa y compre espada.
37 Porque os digo, que es necesario que se cumpla todavía en mí aquello que está escrito: Y con los malos fue contado; porque lo que está escrito de mí, su cumplimiento tiene.
38 Entonces ellos dijeron: Señor, aquí hay dos espadas. Y él les dijo: Basta.
39 ¶ Y saliendo, se fue, como solía, al monte de las Olivas; y sus discípulos también le siguieron.
40 Cuando llegó a aquel lugar, les dijo: Orad que no entréis en tentación.
41 Y él se apartó de ellos como a un tiro de piedra; y puesto de rodillas oró,
42 diciendo: Padre, si quieres, pasa este vaso de mí; pero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya.
43 Y le apareció un ángel del cielo confortándole.
44 Y estando en agonía, oraba más intensamente; y fue su sudor como gotas de sangre que caían hasta la tierra.
45 Y cuando se levantó de la oración, y vino a sus discípulos, los halló durmiendo a causa de la tristeza;
46 y les dijo: ¿Por qué dormís? Levantaos, y orad para que no entréis en tentación.
47 ¶ Estando él aún hablando, he aquí una multitud; y el que se llamaba Judas, uno de los doce, iba delante de ellos; y llegó a Jesús para besarle.
48 Entonces Jesús le dijo: Judas, ¿con un beso entregas al Hijo del hombre?
49 Y viendo los que estaban con él lo que había de acontecer, le dijeron: Señor, ¿heriremos a espada?
50 Y uno de ellos hirió al esclavo del príncipe de los sacerdotes, y le quitó la oreja derecha.
51 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Dejad hasta aquí. Y tocando su oreja, le sanó.
52 Y Jesús dijo a los que habían venido a él, a los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y a los capitanes del Templo, y a los ancianos: ¿Cómo a ladrón habéis salido con espadas y con bastones?
53 Habiendo estado con vosotros cada día en el Templo, no extendisteis las manos contra mí; mas ésta es vuestra hora, y la potestad de las tinieblas.
54 ¶ Y prendiéndole le trajeron, y le metieron en casa del príncipe de los sacerdotes. Y Pedro le seguía de lejos.
55 Y habiendo encendido fuego en medio de la sala, y sentándose todos alrededor, se sentó también Pedro entre ellos.
56 Y cuando una criada le vio que estaba sentado al fuego, se fijó en él, y dijo: Y éste con él estaba.
57 Entonces él lo negó, diciendo: Mujer, no le conozco.
58 Y un poco después, viéndole otro, dijo: Y tú de ellos eras. Y Pedro dijo: Hombre, no soy.
59 Y como una hora pasada otro afirmaba, diciendo: Verdaderamente también éste estaba con él, porque es galileo.
60 Y Pedro dijo: Hombre, no sé lo que dices. Y luego, estando él aún hablando, el gallo cantó.
61 Entonces, vuelto el Señor, miró a Pedro; y Pedro se acordó de la palabra del Señor como le había dicho: Antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces.
62 Y saliendo fuera Pedro, lloró amargamente.
63 ¶ Y los hombres que tenían a Jesús, se burlaban de él hiriéndole;
64 y cubriéndole, herían su rostro, y le preguntaban, diciendo: Profetiza quién es el que te hirió.
65 Y decían otras muchas cosas blasfemándole.
66 Y cuando fue de día, se juntaron los ancianos del pueblo, y los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas, y le trajeron a su concilio,
67 diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Cristo? Dínoslo. Y les dijo: Si os lo dijere, no creeríais;
68 y también si os preguntare, no me responderéis, ni me soltaréis;
69 mas desde ahora el Hijo del hombre se sentará a la diestra de la potencia de Dios.
70 Y dijeron todos: ¿Luego tú eres Hijo de Dios? Y él les dijo: Vosotros lo decís que YO SOY.
71 Entonces ellos dijeron: ¿Qué más testimonio deseamos? Porque nosotros lo hemos oído de su boca.

The Plot to Kill Jesus
22 (A)Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called (B)the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and the scribes (C)were seeking how to put him to death, for they feared the people.
Judas to Betray Jesus
3 (D)Then (E)Satan entered into (F)Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve. 4 He went away and conferred with the chief priests and (G)officers how he might betray him to them. 5 And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. 6 So he consented and sought an opportunity to (H)betray him to them in the absence of a crowd.
The Passover with the Disciples
7 (I)Then came (J)the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 So Jesus[a] sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it.” 9 They said to him, “Where will you have us prepare it?” 10 He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house that he enters 11 and tell the master of the house, (K)‘The Teacher says to you, Where is (L)the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 And he will show you (M)a large upper room furnished; prepare it there.” 13 And they went and found it (N)just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
Institution of the Lord's Supper
14 (O)And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you I will not eat it[b] (P)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 And he took a cup, and (Q)when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. 18 (R)For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine (S)until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 (T)And he took bread, and (U)when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, (V)“This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, (W)“This cup that is poured out for you is (X)the new (Y)covenant in my blood.[c] 21 (Z)But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is (AA)with me on the table. 22 For the Son of Man goes (AB)as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!” 23 And they began to question one another, which of them it could be who was going to do this.
Who Is the Greatest?
24 (AC)A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 (AD)And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles (AE)exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 (AF)But not so with you. Rather, let (AG)the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. 27 For who is the greater, (AH)one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But (AI)I am among you as the one who serves.
28 “You are those who have stayed with me (AJ)in my trials, 29 and (AK)I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, 30 (AL)that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and (AM)sit on thrones judging (AN)the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, (AO)Satan demanded to have you,[d] (AP)that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but (AQ)I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, (AR)strengthen your brothers.” 33 Peter[e] said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both (AS)to prison and (AT)to death.” 34 (AU)Jesus[f] said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”
Scripture Must Be Fulfilled in Jesus
35 And he said to them, (AV)“When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” 36 He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. 37 For I tell you that (AW)this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: (AX)‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For (AY)what is written about me has its fulfillment.” 38 And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two (AZ)swords.” And he said to them, (BA)“It is enough.”
Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives
39 (BB)And he came out and went, (BC)as was his custom, to (BD)the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. 40 (BE)And when he came to (BF)the place, he said to them, (BG)“Pray that you may not (BH)enter into temptation.” 41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and (BI)knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, (BJ)“Father, if you are willing, remove (BK)this cup from me. (BL)Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” 43 And there appeared to him (BM)an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And (BN)being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.[g] 45 And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus
47 (BP)While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called (BQ)Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike (BR)with the sword?” 50 And one of them struck the servant[h] of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and (BS)officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 53 When (BT)I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is (BU)your hour, and (BV)the power of darkness.”
Peter Denies Jesus
54 (BW)Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house, (BX)and Peter was following at a distance. 55 (BY)And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of (BZ)the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. 56 Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58 And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” 59 And after an interval of about an hour still another (CA)insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and (CB)looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, (CC)“Before the rooster crows today, you will (CD)deny me three times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
Jesus Is Mocked
63 (CE)Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him. 64 (CF)They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, (CG)“Prophesy! (CH)Who is it that struck you?” 65 And they said many other things against him, (CI)blaspheming him.
Jesus Before the Council
66 (CJ)When day came, (CK)the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their (CL)council, and they (CM)said, 67 (CN)“If you are (CO)the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, 68 and if I ask you, you will not answer. 69 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated (CP)at the right hand of the power of God.” 70 So they all said, “Are you (CQ)the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, (CR)“You say that I am.” 71 Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”

Giuda decide di tradire Gesú
22 (A)La *festa degli Azzimi, detta la Pasqua, si avvicinava; 2 e i capi dei *sacerdoti e gli *scribi cercavano il modo di farlo morire, ma temevano il popolo.
3 Satana entrò in *Giuda, chiamato Iscariota, che era nel numero dei dodici. 4 Egli andò a conferire con i capi dei sacerdoti e i capitani[a] sul modo di consegnarlo nelle loro mani. 5 Essi si rallegrarono e pattuirono di dargli del denaro. 6 Egli fu d'accordo e cercava l'occasione buona per consegnare loro Gesú di nascosto alla folla.
L'ultima Pasqua. La cena del Signore
7 (B)Venne il giorno degli Azzimi, nel quale si doveva sacrificare la Pasqua. 8 Gesú mandò *Pietro e *Giovanni, dicendo: «Andate a prepararci la cena pasquale, affinché la mangiamo». 9 Essi gli chiesero: «Dove vuoi che la prepariamo?» 10 Ed egli rispose loro: «Quando sarete entrati in città, vi verrà incontro un uomo che porta una brocca d'acqua; seguitelo nella casa dove egli entrerà. 11 E dite al padrone di casa: “Il Maestro ti manda a dire: Dov'è la stanza nella quale mangerò la Pasqua con i miei discepoli?” 12 Ed egli vi mostrerà, al piano di sopra, una grande sala ammobiliata; qui apparecchiate». 13 Essi andarono e trovarono com'egli aveva detto loro e prepararono la Pasqua.
14 Quando giunse l'ora, egli si mise a tavola, e gli *apostoli con lui. 15 Egli disse loro: «Ho vivamente desiderato di mangiare questa Pasqua con voi, prima di soffrire; 16 poiché io vi dico che non la mangerò piú, finché sia compiuta nel regno di Dio». 17 E, preso un calice, rese grazie e disse: «Prendete questo e distribuitelo fra di voi; 18 perché io vi dico che ormai non berrò piú del frutto della vigna, finché sia venuto il regno di Dio».
19 (C)Poi prese del pane, rese grazie e lo spezzò, e lo diede loro dicendo: «Questo è il mio corpo che è dato per voi; fate questo in memoria di me». 20 Allo stesso modo, dopo aver cenato, diede loro il calice dicendo: «Questo calice è il nuovo patto nel mio sangue, che è versato per voi.
Gesú rivela che sarà tradito
21 (D)«Del resto, ecco, la mano di colui che mi tradisce è con me sulla tavola. 22 Perché il *Figlio dell'uomo, certo, se ne va, come è stabilito; ma guai a quell'uomo per mezzo del quale egli è tradito!» 23 Ed essi cominciarono a domandarsi gli uni gli altri chi sarebbe mai, tra di loro, a far questo.
Chi sia il piú grande
24 (E)Fra di loro nacque anche una contesa: chi di essi fosse considerato il piú grande. 25 Ma egli disse loro: «I re delle nazioni le signoreggiano, e quelli che le sottomettono al loro dominio sono chiamati benefattori[b]. 26 Ma per voi non dev'essere cosí; anzi il piú grande tra di voi sia come il piú piccolo, e chi governa come colui che serve. 27 Perché, chi è piú grande, colui che è a tavola oppure colui che serve? Non è forse colui che è a tavola? Ma io sono in mezzo a voi come colui che serve. 28 Or voi siete quelli che avete perseverato con me nelle mie prove; 29 e io dispongo che vi sia dato un regno, come il Padre mio ha disposto che fosse dato a me, 30 affinché mangiate e beviate alla mia tavola nel mio regno, e sediate su troni per giudicare le dodici tribú d'*Israele.
Gesú predice il rinnegamento di Pietro
31 (F)«*Simone, Simone, ecco, Satana ha chiesto di vagliarvi come si vaglia il grano; 32 ma io ho pregato per te, affinché la tua fede non venga meno; e tu, quando sarai convertito, fortifica i tuoi fratelli». 33 Pietro gli disse: «Signore, sono pronto ad andare con te in prigione e alla morte». 34 E Gesú: «Pietro, io ti dico che oggi il gallo non canterà, prima che tu abbia negato tre volte di conoscermi».
35 Poi disse loro: «Quando vi mandai senza borsa, senza sacca da viaggio e senza calzari, vi è forse mancato qualcosa?» Essi risposero: «Niente». Ed egli disse loro: 36 «Ma ora, chi ha una borsa, la prenda; cosí pure una sacca; e chi non ha spada, venda il mantello e ne compri una. 37 Perché io vi dico che in me dev'essere adempiuto ciò che è scritto: “Egli è stato contato tra i malfattori”[c]. Infatti, le cose che si riferiscono a me, stanno per compiersi». 38 Ed essi dissero: «Signore, ecco qui due spade!» Ma egli disse loro: «Basta!»
Agonia di Gesú nel giardino del Getsemani
39 (G)Poi, uscito, andò, come al solito, al *monte degli Ulivi; e anche i discepoli lo seguirono.
40 Giunto sul luogo, disse loro: «Pregate di non entrare in tentazione». 41 Egli si staccò da loro circa un tiro di sasso e postosi in ginocchio pregava, dicendo: 42 «Padre, se vuoi, allontana da me questo calice! Però non la mia volontà, ma la tua sia fatta».
43 [Allora gli apparve un angelo dal cielo per rafforzarlo. 44 Ed essendo in agonia, egli pregava ancor piú intensamente; e il suo sudore diventò come grosse gocce di sangue che cadevano in terra.] 45 E, dopo aver pregato, si alzò, andò dai discepoli e li trovò addormentati per la tristezza, 46 e disse loro: «Perché dormite? Alzatevi e pregate, affinché non entriate in tentazione».
Tradimento di Giuda
47 (H)Mentre parlava ancora, ecco una folla; e colui che si chiamava Giuda, uno dei dodici, la precedeva, e si avvicinò a Gesú per baciarlo. 48 Ma Gesú gli disse: «Giuda, tradisci il Figlio dell'uomo con un bacio?»
49 Quelli che erano con lui, vedendo ciò che stava per succedere, dissero: «Signore, dobbiamo colpire con la spada?» 50 E uno di loro percosse il servo del sommo sacerdote, e gli recise l'orecchio destro. 51 Ma Gesú intervenne e disse: «Lasciate, basta!» E, toccato l'orecchio di quell'uomo, lo guarí.
52 Gesú disse ai capi dei sacerdoti, ai capitani del *tempio e agli *anziani che erano venuti contro di lui: «Siete usciti con spade e bastoni, come contro un brigante! 53 Mentre ero ogni giorno con voi nel tempio, non mi avete mai messo le mani addosso; ma questa è l'ora vostra, questa è la potenza delle tenebre».
Arresto di Gesú; il Signore rinnegato tre volte da Pietro
54 (I)Dopo averlo arrestato, lo portarono via e lo condussero nella casa del sommo sacerdote; e Pietro seguiva da lontano.
55 Essi accesero un fuoco in mezzo al *cortile, sedendovi intorno. Pietro si sedette in mezzo a loro. 56 Una serva, vedendo Pietro seduto presso il fuoco, lo guardò fisso e disse: «Anche costui era con Gesú». 57 Ma egli negò, dicendo: «Donna, non lo conosco». 58 E poco dopo, un altro lo vide e disse: «Anche tu sei di quelli». Ma Pietro rispose: «No, uomo, non lo sono». 59 Trascorsa circa un'ora, un altro insisteva, dicendo: «Certo, anche questi era con lui, poiché è *Galileo». 60 Ma Pietro disse: «Uomo, io non so quello che dici». E subito, mentre parlava ancora, il gallo cantò. 61 E il Signore, voltatosi, guardò Pietro; e Pietro si ricordò della parola che il Signore gli aveva detta: «Oggi, prima che il gallo canti, tu mi rinnegherai tre volte». 62 E, andato fuori, pianse amaramente.
Gesú flagellato e percosso
63 (J)Gli uomini che tenevano Gesú, lo schernivano percotendolo; 64 poi lo bendarono e gli domandavano: «Indovina, profeta! Chi ti ha percosso?» 65 E dicevano molte altre cose contro di lui, bestemmiando.
66 Appena fu giorno, gli anziani del popolo, i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi si riunirono, e lo condussero nel loro *sinedrio, dicendo: 67 «Se tu sei il Cristo, diccelo». Ma egli disse loro: «Anche se ve lo dicessi, non credereste; 68 e se io vi facessi delle domande, non rispondereste. 69 Ma da ora in avanti il Figlio dell'uomo sarà seduto alla destra della potenza di Dio[d]». 70 E tutti dissero: «Sei tu, dunque, il *Figlio di Dio?» Ed egli rispose loro: «Voi stessi dite che io lo sono». 71 E quelli dissero: «Che bisogno abbiamo ancora di testimonianza? Lo abbiamo udito noi stessi dalla sua bocca».
