Traición de Judas
22 (A)Se acercaba la fiesta de los panes sin levadura[a], llamada la Pascua(B). 2 Y los principales sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban cómo dar muerte a Jesús[b](C), pues temían al pueblo.
3 (D)Entonces Satanás entró en Judas, llamado Iscariote(E), que pertenecía al[c] número de los doce; 4 y él fue y discutió con los principales sacerdotes y con los oficiales(F) sobre cómo se lo entregaría. 5 Ellos se alegraron y convinieron en darle dinero. 6 Él aceptó, y buscaba una oportunidad para entregarle, sin hacer un escándalo[d].
Preparación de la Pascua
7 (G)Llegó el día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura[e] en que debía sacrificarse el cordero de la Pascua(H). 8 Entonces Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan(I), diciendo: Id y preparad la Pascua para nosotros, para que la comamos. 9 Ellos le dijeron: ¿Dónde deseas que la preparemos? 10 Y Él les respondió: He aquí, al entrar en la ciudad, os saldrá al encuentro un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua; seguidle a la casa donde entre. 11 Y diréis al dueño de la casa: «El Maestro te dice: “¿Dónde está la habitación, en la cual pueda comer la Pascua con mis discípulos?”». 12 Entonces él os mostrará un gran aposento alto, dispuesto; preparadla allí. 13 Entonces ellos fueron y encontraron todo tal como Él les había dicho; y prepararon la Pascua.
Institución de la Cena del Señor
14 Cuando llegó la hora, se sentó[f] a la mesa, y con Él los apóstoles(J), 15 y les dijo: Intensamente he deseado comer esta Pascua con vosotros antes de padecer; 16 porque os digo que nunca más volveré a comerla hasta que se cumpla en el reino de Dios(K). 17 (L)Y habiendo tomado una copa, después de haber dado gracias, dijo: Tomad esto y repartidlo entre vosotros(M); 18 porque os digo que de ahora en adelante no beberé del fruto de la vid, hasta que venga el reino de Dios(N). 19 Y habiendo tomado pan, después de haber dado gracias, lo partió(O), y les dio, diciendo: Esto es mi cuerpo que por vosotros es dado; haced esto en memoria de mí. 20 De la misma manera tomó la copa después de haber cenado, diciendo: Esta copa es el nuevo pacto(P) en mi sangre(Q), que es derramada por vosotros. 21 (R)Mas he aquí, la mano del que me entrega está conmigo en la mesa. 22 Porque en verdad, el Hijo del Hombre va según se ha determinado(S), pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien Él es entregado! 23 Entonces ellos comenzaron a discutir entre sí quién de ellos sería el que iba a hacer esto.
Los discípulos discuten sobre quién es el mayor
24 Se suscitó también entre ellos un altercado, sobre cuál de ellos debería ser considerado como el mayor(T). 25 (U)Y Jesús les dijo: Los reyes de los gentiles se enseñorean de ellos; y los que tienen autoridad sobre ellos son llamados bienhechores. 26 Pero no es así con vosotros; antes, el mayor entre vosotros hágase como el menor[g](V), y el que dirige como el que sirve(W). 27 Porque, ¿cuál es mayor, el que se sienta[h] a la mesa, o el que sirve(X)? ¿No lo es el que se sienta[i] a la mesa? Sin embargo, entre vosotros yo soy como el que sirve(Y). 28 Vosotros sois los que habéis permanecido conmigo en mis pruebas(Z); 29 y así como mi Padre me ha otorgado un reino(AA), yo os otorgo 30 que comáis(AB) y bebáis a mi mesa en mi reino(AC); y os sentaréis en tronos juzgando a las doce tribus de Israel(AD).
Jesús predice la negación de Pedro
31 Simón, Simón, mira que Satanás os ha reclamado(AE) para zarandearos(AF) como a trigo; 32 pero yo he rogado por ti(AG) para que tu fe no falle; y tú, una vez que hayas regresado, fortalece a tus hermanos(AH). 33 (AI)Y Pedro le dijo: Señor, estoy dispuesto a ir contigo tanto a la cárcel como a la muerte. 34 Pero Jesús le dijo: Te digo, Pedro, que el gallo no cantará hoy hasta que tú hayas negado tres veces que me conoces.
Bolsa, alforja y espada
35 Y les dijo: Cuando os envié sin bolsa, ni alforja, ni sandalias(AJ), ¿acaso os faltó algo? Y ellos contestaron: No, nada. 36 Entonces les dijo: Pero ahora, el que tenga una bolsa, que la lleve consigo, de la misma manera también una alforja, y el que no tenga espada, venda su manto y compre una. 37 Porque os digo que es necesario que en mí se cumpla esto que está escrito: «Y con los transgresores fue contado(AK)»; pues ciertamente, lo que se refiere(AL) a mí, tiene su cumplimiento. 38 Y ellos dijeron: Señor, mira, aquí hay dos espadas(AM). Y Él les dijo: Es suficiente.
Jesús en Getsemaní
39 Y saliendo, se encaminó, como de costumbre(AN), hacia el monte de los Olivos(AO); y los discípulos también le siguieron. 40 (AP)Cuando llegó al lugar, les dijo: Orad para que no entréis en tentación(AQ). 41 Y se apartó de ellos como a un tiro de piedra, y poniéndose de rodillas(AR), oraba, 42 diciendo: Padre, si es tu voluntad, aparta de mí esta copa(AS); pero no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya(AT). 43 [j]Entonces se le apareció un ángel del cielo, fortaleciéndole(AU). 44 Y estando en agonía, oraba con mucho fervor(AV); y su sudor se volvió como gruesas gotas de sangre, que caían sobre la tierra. 45 Cuando se levantó de orar, fue a los discípulos y los halló dormidos a causa de la tristeza, 46 y les dijo: ¿Por qué dormís? Levantaos y orad para que no entréis en tentación(AW).
Arresto de Jesús
47 (AX)Mientras todavía estaba Él hablando, he aquí, llegó una multitud, y el que se llamaba Judas, uno de los doce, iba delante de ellos, y se acercó a Jesús para besarle. 48 Pero Jesús le dijo: Judas, ¿con un beso entregas al Hijo del Hombre? 49 Y cuando los que rodeaban a Jesús[k] vieron lo que iba a suceder, dijeron: Señor, ¿heriremos a espada(AY)? 50 Y uno de ellos hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote y le cortó[l] la oreja derecha. 51 Respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Deteneos! Basta de esto. Y[m] tocando la oreja al siervo, lo sanó. 52 Entonces Jesús dijo a los principales sacerdotes, a los oficiales del templo(AZ) y a los ancianos que habían venido contra Él: ¿Habéis salido con espadas y garrotes como contra un ladrón(BA)? 53 Cuando estaba con vosotros cada día en el templo, no me echasteis mano; pero esta hora y el poder de las tinieblas son vuestros[n].
La negación de Pedro
54 Habiéndole arrestado, se lo llevaron y le condujeron a la casa del sumo sacerdote(BB); mas Pedro le seguía de lejos(BC). 55 (BD)Después de encender ellos una hoguera en medio del patio, y de sentarse juntos, Pedro se sentó entre ellos(BE). 56 Y una sirvienta, al verlo sentado junto a la lumbre, fijándose en él detenidamente, dijo: También este estaba con Él. 57 Pero él lo negó, diciendo: Mujer, yo no le conozco. 58 Un poco después, otro al verlo, dijo: ¡Tú también eres uno de ellos(BF)! Pero Pedro dijo: ¡Hombre, no es cierto[o]! 59 Pasada como una hora, otro insistía, diciendo: Ciertamente este también estaba con Él, pues él también es galileo(BG). 60 Pero Pedro dijo: Hombre, yo no sé de qué hablas. Y al instante, estando él todavía hablando, cantó un gallo. 61 Entonces el Señor(BH) se volvió y miró a Pedro. Y recordó Pedro la palabra del Señor, cómo le había dicho: Antes que el gallo cante hoy, me negarás tres veces(BI). 62 Y saliendo fuera, lloró amargamente.
Jesús escarnecido
63 Los hombres que tenían a Jesús[p] bajo custodia, se burlaban de Él y le golpeaban(BJ); 64 y vendándole los ojos, le preguntaban, diciendo: Adivina[q], ¿quién es el que te ha golpeado(BK)? 65 También decían muchas otras cosas contra Él, blasfemando(BL).
Jesús ante el concilio
66 Cuando se hizo de día, se reunió el concilio de los ancianos[r](BM) del pueblo, tanto los principales sacerdotes como los escribas, y llevaron a Jesús[s](BN) ante su concilio[t](BO), diciendo: 67 Si tú eres el Cristo[u](BP), dínoslo. Pero Él les dijo: Si os lo digo, no creeréis; 68 y si os pregunto, no responderéis. 69 Pero de ahora en adelante, el Hijo del Hombre estará sentado a la diestra del poder de Dios(BQ). 70 Dijeron todos: Entonces, ¿tú eres el Hijo de Dios(BR)? Y Él les respondió: Vosotros decís que yo soy(BS). 71 Y ellos dijeron: ¿Qué necesidad tenemos ya de testimonio? Pues nosotros mismos lo hemos oído de su propia boca.

猶大出賣耶穌
22 除酵節，又名逾越節，快到了。 2 祭司長和律法教師因為害怕百姓，便密謀如何殺害耶穌。 3 這時，撒旦進入加略人猶大的心，這人原是十二使徒之一。 4 他去見祭司長和聖殿護衛長，商議如何把耶穌出賣給他們， 5 他們喜出望外，答應給猶大一筆酬金。 6 猶大同意了，便伺機找百姓不在的場合將耶穌交給他們。
最後的晚餐
7 除酵節到了，那天要宰殺逾越羊羔。 8 耶穌差派彼得和約翰出去，說：「你們為我們準備逾越節吃的晚餐。」
9 他們問：「你要我們到哪裡去預備呢？」
10 耶穌回答說：「你們進城的時候，一個男子會扛著一瓶水迎面走來，你們要跟著他，他進哪所房子，你們也進去， 11 對房子的主人說，『老師問你客房在哪裡，祂要和門徒在裡面吃逾越節的晚餐。』 12 那主人會帶你們到樓上一間佈置整齊的大房間，你們就在那裡預備吧。」
13 他們進了城，所遇見的果然和耶穌所說的一樣。他們便在那裡預備逾越節的晚餐。
設立聖餐
14 晚餐時，耶穌和使徒們一同坐席。 15 耶穌對他們說：「我一直盼望在受難之前和你們同吃這個逾越節的宴席。 16 我告訴你們，在這宴席成就在上帝的國度之前，我不會再吃這宴席了。」
17 祂接過杯來，祝謝後，說：「你們拿去分著喝吧。 18 我告訴你們，在上帝的國降臨之前，我不會再喝這葡萄酒了。」
19 接著，祂拿起餅來，祝謝後，掰開遞給他們，說：「這是我為你們犧牲的身體，你們今後也要這樣做，以紀念我。」
20 飯後，祂又舉起杯來，說：「這杯是用我的血立的新約，這血是為你們流的。
21 「但是看啊，那出賣我之人的手和我的手都在桌子上。 22 按照所定的，人子要死去，但那出賣人子的人有禍了！」 23 他們開始彼此追問誰會出賣耶穌。
誰最偉大
24 門徒又開始爭論他們當中誰最偉大。 25 耶穌對他們說：「外族人有君王統治他們，那些統治者被稱為恩主， 26 但你們不可這樣。相反，你們中間地位最高的，要像最卑微的；做首領的，要像服侍人的。 27 坐著吃飯的和伺候的哪個地位高呢？難道不是坐著的那個嗎？然而，我在你們當中是服侍人的。
28 「在我患難之時，你們一直在我身邊， 29 所以，我父怎樣將國賜給我，我也照樣將國賜給你們， 30 使你們在我的國中和我一同坐席，並且坐在寶座上審判以色列的十二個支派。」
預言彼得不認主
31 耶穌說：「西門！西門！撒旦已經要求像篩麥子一樣篩你們， 32 但我已經為你禱告了，叫你不至於失去信心。你回頭以後，要讓你的弟兄剛強。」
33 西門·彼得說：「主啊，我願意和你一起坐牢，一起受死！」
34 耶穌說：「彼得，我告訴你，明早雞叫之前，你會三次不認我。」
35 耶穌又問門徒：「我派你們出去的時候，無錢袋、背包和鞋子，你們有任何缺乏嗎？」
他們答道：「沒有。」
36 耶穌說：「但現在如果有錢袋或背包，都要帶著；如果沒有刀劍，要賣掉衣服買刀劍。 37 我告訴你們，『祂要被列在罪犯中』這句經文必在我身上應驗，因為聖經上有關我的事情快要實現了。」
38 他們說：「主啊，請看，這裡有兩把刀。」耶穌說：「夠了。」
橄欖山上的禱告
39 耶穌離開，像往常一樣前往橄欖山，門徒也跟去了。 40 到了山上，祂對門徒說：「你們要禱告，以免陷入誘惑！」
41 然後，祂獨自走到離門徒約有扔一塊石頭那麼遠的地方跪下禱告： 42 「父啊，若你願意，求你撤去此杯，然而，願你的旨意成就，而非我的意願。」 43 有一位從天上來的天使向祂顯現，給祂加添力量。
44 祂心中極其悲痛，禱告更懇切，汗珠如血滴在地上。
45 祂禱告完後，便起身回到門徒那裡，看見他們因憂愁而疲憊地睡著了， 46 就說：「你們為什麼睡覺呢？要起來禱告，以免陷入誘惑！」
耶穌被捕
47 耶穌還在說話的時候，十二使徒中的猶大已帶著一群人趕到，他上前親吻耶穌。 48 耶穌對他說：「猶大，你用親吻的暗號來出賣人子嗎？」
49 跟隨耶穌的人見他們來勢洶洶，就說：「主啊，我們該拔刀抵抗嗎？」 50 其中一人拔刀朝大祭司的奴僕砍過去，削掉了他的右耳。
51 耶穌卻說：「住手！夠了！」於是祂摸那奴僕的耳朵，治好了他， 52 然後對前來抓祂的祭司長、聖殿護衛長和長老說：「你們像對付強盜一樣拿著刀棍來抓我嗎？ 53 我天天和你們一起在聖殿裡，你們沒有抓我。但現在正是黑暗當權、你們得勢的時候了！」
彼得不認主
54 他們把耶穌押到大祭司的府第。彼得遠遠地跟在後面。
55 他們在庭院當中生起了火，圍坐取暖，彼得也坐在他們中間。 56 有個婢女看見彼得坐在火堆邊，打量他一番後，說：「這人是與耶穌一夥的！」
57 彼得卻否認說：「你這女子，我不認識祂。」
58 過了一會兒，又有個人看見了彼得，就說：「你也是跟他們一夥的！」
彼得說：「你這人，我不是！」
59 大約一小時之後，又有人指著彼得肯定地說：「這人確實是和耶穌一夥的，因為他也是加利利人。」
60 彼得說：「你這人，我不知道你在說什麼！」話才出口，雞就叫了。
61 這時，主轉過頭來望著彼得，彼得想起主對他說的話：「明早雞叫之前，你會三次不認我。」 62 他就到外面，痛哭起來。
在公會受審
63 看守耶穌的人嘲弄祂，毆打祂， 64 蒙住祂的眼睛，對祂說：「說預言吧！是誰在打你？」 65 還說了許多侮辱祂的話。
66 天亮後，民間的長老、祭司長和律法教師聚在一起，把耶穌押到他們的公會， 67 對祂說：「如果你是基督，就告訴我們。」
耶穌說：「即使我告訴你們，你們也不會相信。 68 如果我問你們，你們也不會回答。 69 但從今以後，人子要坐在全能上帝的右邊。」
70 他們都問：「那麼，你是上帝的兒子嗎？」耶穌回答說：「你們說我是。」
71 他們說：「我們還需要什麼見證呢？我們已經聽見祂自己說的了。」

Judas acuerda traicionar a Jesús(A)
22 Se aproximaba la fiesta de los Panes sin levadura, llamada la Pascua. 2 Los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la Ley buscaban algún modo de acabar con Jesús, porque temían al pueblo. 3 Entonces entró Satanás en Judas, uno de los doce, al que llamaban Iscariote. 4 Este fue a los jefes de los sacerdotes y a los capitanes del Templo para tratar con ellos cómo les entregaría a Jesús. 5 Ellos se alegraron y acordaron darle dinero. 6 Él aceptó y comenzó a buscar una oportunidad para entregarles a Jesús cuando no hubiera gente.
La última cena(B)(C)(D)(E)(F)
7 Cuando llegó el día de la fiesta de los Panes sin levadura, en que debía sacrificarse el cordero de la Pascua, 8 Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciéndoles:
—Vayan a hacer los preparativos para que comamos la Pascua.
9 —¿Dónde quieres que la preparemos? —le preguntaron.
10 —Miren —contestó él—, al entrar ustedes en la ciudad les saldrá al encuentro un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua. Síganlo hasta la casa en que entre 11 y díganle al dueño de la casa: “El Maestro pregunta: ¿dónde está la sala en la que voy a comer la Pascua con mis discípulos?”. 12 Él les mostrará en la planta alta una sala amplia y amueblada. Preparen allí la cena.
13 Ellos se fueron y encontraron todo tal como les había dicho Jesús. Así que prepararon la Pascua.
14 Cuando llegó la hora, Jesús y sus apóstoles se sentaron a la mesa. 15 Entonces les dijo:
—He tenido muchísimos deseos de comer esta Pascua con ustedes antes de padecer, 16 pues les digo que no volveré a comerla hasta que tenga su pleno cumplimiento en el reino de Dios.
17 Luego tomó la copa, dio gracias y dijo:
—Tomen esto y repártanlo entre ustedes. 18 Les digo que no volveré a beber del fruto de la vid hasta que venga el reino de Dios.
19 También tomó pan y, después de dar gracias, lo partió, se lo dio a ellos y dijo:
—Esto es mi cuerpo, entregado por ustedes; hagan esto en memoria de mí.
20 De la misma manera, tomó la copa después de cenar y dijo:
—Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre, que es derramada por ustedes. 21 Pero sepan que la mano del que va a traicionarme está con la mía sobre la mesa. 22 El Hijo del hombre se irá según está determinado, pero ¡ay de aquel que lo traiciona!
23 Entonces comenzaron a preguntarse unos a otros quién de ellos haría esto.
24 Tuvieron además un altercado sobre cuál de ellos sería el más importante. 25 Jesús les dijo:
—Los reyes de las naciones oprimen a sus súbditos y los que ejercen autoridad sobre ellos se llaman a sí mismos benefactores. 26 No sea así entre ustedes. Al contrario, el mayor debe comportarse como el menor y el que manda como el que sirve. 27 Porque, ¿quién es más importante, el que está a la mesa o el que sirve? ¿No lo es el que está sentado a la mesa? Sin embargo, yo estoy entre ustedes como uno que sirve. 28 Ahora bien, ustedes son los que han estado siempre a mi lado en mis pruebas. 29 Por eso, yo mismo les concedo un reino, así como mi Padre me lo concedió a mí, 30 para que coman y beban a mi mesa en mi reino y se sienten en tronos para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel.
31 »Simón, Simón, mira que Satanás ha pedido zarandearlos a ustedes como si fueran trigo. 32 Pero yo he orado por ti, para que no falle tu fe. Y tú, cuando te hayas vuelto a mí, fortalece a tus hermanos.
33 —Señor —respondió Pedro—, estoy dispuesto a ir contigo tanto a la cárcel como a la muerte.
34 Pero él dijo:
—Pedro, te digo que hoy mismo, antes de que cante el gallo, tres veces negarás que me conoces.
35 Luego Jesús dijo a todos:
—Cuando los envié a ustedes sin monedero ni bolsa ni sandalias, ¿acaso les faltó algo?
—Nada —respondieron.
36 Entonces les dijo:
—Ahora, en cambio, el que tenga un monedero, que lo lleve; así mismo, el que tenga una bolsa. Y el que no tenga espada, que venda su manto y compre una. 37 Porque les digo que tiene que cumplirse en mí aquello que está escrito: “Y fue contado entre los malhechores”.[a] En efecto, lo que se ha escrito de mí se está cumpliendo.[b]
38 —Mira, Señor —le señalaron los discípulos—, aquí hay dos espadas.
—¡Basta! —les contestó.
Jesús ora en el monte de los Olivos(G)
39 Jesús salió de la ciudad y, como de costumbre, se dirigió al monte de los Olivos y sus discípulos lo siguieron. 40 Cuando llegaron al lugar, les dijo: «Oren para que no caigan en tentación». 41 Entonces se separó de ellos a una buena distancia,[c] se arrodilló y empezó a orar: 42 «Padre, si quieres, no me hagas beber este trago amargo;[d] pero no se cumpla mi voluntad, sino la tuya». 43 Entonces se apareció un ángel del cielo para fortalecerlo. 44 Pero como estaba angustiado, se puso a orar con más fervor y su sudor era como gotas de sangre que caían a tierra.[e]
45 Cuando terminó de orar y volvió a los discípulos, los encontró dormidos, agotados por la tristeza. 46 «¿Por qué están durmiendo? —les exhortó—. Levántense y oren para que no caigan en tentación».
Arresto de Jesús(H)
47 Todavía estaba hablando Jesús cuando se apareció una turba, y al frente iba uno de los doce, el que se llamaba Judas. Este se acercó a Jesús para besarlo, 48 pero Jesús le preguntó:
—Judas, ¿con un beso traicionas al Hijo del hombre?
49 Los discípulos que lo rodeaban, al darse cuenta de lo que pasaba, dijeron:
—Señor, ¿atacamos con la espada?
50 Y uno de ellos hirió al siervo del sumo sacerdote, cortándole la oreja derecha.
51 —¡Déjenlos! —ordenó Jesús.
Entonces tocó la oreja al hombre y lo sanó. 52 Luego dijo a los jefes de los sacerdotes, a los capitanes del Templo y a los líderes religiosos, que habían venido a prenderlo:
—¿Acaso soy un bandido[f] para que vengan con espadas y palos? 53 Todos los días estaba con ustedes en el Templo y no se atrevieron a ponerme las manos encima. Pero ya ha llegado la hora de ustedes, cuando reinan las tinieblas.
Pedro niega a Jesús(I)
54 Prendieron entonces a Jesús y lo llevaron a la casa del sumo sacerdote. Pedro los seguía de lejos. 55 Pero luego, cuando encendieron una fogata en medio del patio y se sentaron alrededor, Pedro se les unió. 56 Una criada lo vio allí sentado a la lumbre, lo miró detenidamente y dijo:
—Este estaba con él.
57 Pero él lo negó, diciendo:
—Muchacha, yo no lo conozco.
58 Poco después lo vio otro y afirmó:
—Tú también eres uno de ellos.
—¡No, hombre, no lo soy! —contestó Pedro.
59 Como una hora más tarde, otro lo acusó:
—Seguro que este estaba con él; miren que es galileo.
60 —¡Hombre, no sé de qué estás hablando! —respondió Pedro.

66 Al amanecer, se reunieron los líderes religiosos del pueblo, tanto los jefes de los sacerdotes como los maestros de la Ley, e hicieron comparecer a Jesús ante el Consejo.
67 —Si eres el Cristo, dínoslo —le exigieron.
Jesús contestó:
—Si se lo dijera a ustedes, no me lo creerían 68 y, si les hiciera preguntas, no me contestarían. 69 Pero de ahora en adelante el Hijo del hombre estará sentado a la derecha del Dios Todopoderoso.
70 —¿Eres tú, entonces, el Hijo de Dios? —preguntaron a una voz.
Y él les dijo:
—Ustedes mismos lo dicen.

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus(A)
22 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,(B) 2 and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus,(C) for they were afraid of the people. 3 Then Satan(D) entered Judas, called Iscariot,(E) one of the Twelve. 4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard(F) and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. 5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money.(G) 6 He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.
The Last Supper(H)(I)(J)(K)(L)
7 Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.(M) 8 Jesus sent Peter and John,(N) saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
9 “Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.
10 He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”
13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them.(O) So they prepared the Passover.
14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles(P) reclined at the table.(Q) 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.(R) 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”(S)
17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it,(T) and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant(U) in my blood, which is poured out for you.[a] 21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.(V) 22 The Son of Man(W) will go as it has been decreed.(X) But woe to that man who betrays him!” 23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.
24 A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.(Y) 25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26 But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest,(Z) and the one who rules like the one who serves.(AA) 27 For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.(AB) 28 You are those who have stood by me in my trials. 29 And I confer on you a kingdom,(AC) just as my Father conferred one on me, 30 so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom(AD) and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.(AE)
31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked(AF) to sift all of you as wheat.(AG) 32 But I have prayed for you,(AH) Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”(AI)
33 But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.”(AJ)
34 Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”
35 Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals,(AK) did you lack anything?”
“Nothing,” they answered.
36 He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’[b];(AL) and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38 The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.”
“That’s enough!” he replied.
Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives(AM)
39 Jesus went out as usual(AN) to the Mount of Olives,(AO) and his disciples followed him. 40 On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”(AP) 41 He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down(AQ) and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup(AR) from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”(AS) 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.(AT) 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.[c]
45 When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 46 “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”(AU)
Jesus Arrested(AV)
47 While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49 When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”(AW) 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
51 But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard,(AX) and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? 53 Every day I was with you in the temple courts,(AY) and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour(AZ)—when darkness reigns.”(BA)
Peter Disowns Jesus(BB)
54 Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest.(BC) Peter followed at a distance.(BD) 55 And when some there had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them. 56 A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.”
57 But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.
58 A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.”
“Man, I am not!” Peter replied.
59 About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”(BE)
60 Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 The Lord(BF) turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.”(BG) 62 And he went outside and wept bitterly.
The Guards Mock Jesus(BH)
63 The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him. 64 They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?” 65 And they said many other insulting things to him.(BI)
Jesus Before Pilate and Herod(BJ)(BK)(BL)
66 At daybreak the council(BM) of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together,(BN) and Jesus was led before them. 67 “If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.”
Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me, 68 and if I asked you, you would not answer.(BO) 69 But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”(BP)
70 They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?”(BQ)
He replied, “You say that I am.”(BR)
71 Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”

47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.
48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.
55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.
60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.
61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.
64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.
66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
