La parábola del pastor que encuentra su oveja(A)
15 Todos los que cobraban impuestos para Roma y otra gente de mala fama se acercaban a Jesús, para oírlo. 2 Los fariseos y los maestros de la ley lo criticaban por esto, diciendo:
—Éste recibe a los pecadores y come con ellos.
3 Entonces Jesús les dijo esta parábola: 4 «¿Quién de ustedes, si tiene cien ovejas y pierde una de ellas, no deja las otras noventa y nueve en el campo y va en busca de la oveja perdida, hasta encontrarla? 5 Y cuando la encuentra, contento la pone sobre sus hombros, 6 y al llegar a casa junta a sus amigos y vecinos, y les dice: “Alégrense conmigo, porque ya encontré la oveja que se me había perdido.” 7 Les digo que así también hay más alegría en el cielo por un pecador que se convierte que por noventa y nueve justos que no necesitan convertirse.

8 »O bien, ¿qué mujer que tiene diez monedas y pierde una de ellas, no enciende una lámpara y barre la casa buscando con cuidado hasta encontrarla? 9 Y cuando la encuentra, reúne a sus amigas y vecinas, y les dice: “Alégrense conmigo, porque ya encontré la moneda que había perdido.” 10 Les digo que así también hay alegría entre los ángeles de Dios por un pecador que se convierte.»
La parábola del padre que recobra a su hijo
11 Jesús contó esto también: «Un hombre tenía dos hijos, 12 y el más joven le dijo a su padre: “Padre, dame la parte de la herencia que me toca.” Entonces el padre repartió los bienes entre ellos. 13 Pocos días después el hijo menor vendió su parte de la propiedad, y con ese dinero se fue lejos, a otro país, donde todo lo derrochó llevando una vida desenfrenada. 14 Pero cuando ya se lo había gastado todo, hubo una gran escasez de comida en aquel país, y él comenzó a pasar hambre. 15 Fue a pedir trabajo a un hombre del lugar, que lo mandó a sus campos a cuidar cerdos. 16 Y tenía ganas de llenarse con las algarrobas que comían los cerdos, pero nadie se las daba. 17 Al fin se puso a pensar: “¡Cuántos trabajadores en la casa de mi padre tienen comida de sobra, mientras yo aquí me muero de hambre! 18 Regresaré a casa de mi padre, y le diré: Padre mío, he pecado contra Dios y contra ti; 19 ya no merezco llamarme tu hijo; trátame como a uno de tus trabajadores.” 20 Así que se puso en camino y regresó a la casa de su padre.
»Cuando todavía estaba lejos, su padre lo vio y sintió compasión de él. Corrió a su encuentro, y lo recibió con abrazos y besos. 21 El hijo le dijo: “Padre mío, he pecado contra Dios y contra ti; ya no merezco llamarme tu hijo.” 22 Pero el padre ordenó a sus criados: “Saquen pronto la mejor ropa y vístanlo; pónganle también un anillo en el dedo y sandalias en los pies. 23 Traigan el becerro más gordo y mátenlo. ¡Vamos a celebrar esto con un banquete! 24 Porque este hijo mío estaba muerto y ha vuelto a vivir; se había perdido y lo hemos encontrado.” Comenzaron la fiesta.
25 »Entre tanto, el hijo mayor estaba en el campo. Cuando regresó y llegó cerca de la casa, oyó la música y el baile. 26 Entonces llamó a uno de los criados y le preguntó qué pasaba. 27 El criado le dijo: “Es que su hermano ha vuelto; y su padre ha mandado matar el becerro más gordo, porque lo recobró sano y salvo.” 28 Pero tanto se enojó el hermano mayor, que no quería entrar, así que su padre tuvo que salir a rogarle que lo hiciera. 29 Le dijo a su padre: “Tú sabes cuántos años te he servido, sin desobedecerte nunca, y jamás me has dado ni siquiera un cabrito para tener una comida con mis amigos. 30 En cambio, ahora llega este hijo tuyo, que ha malgastado tu dinero con prostitutas, y matas para él el becerro más gordo.”
31 »El padre le contestó: “Hijo mío, tú siempre estás conmigo, y todo lo que tengo es tuyo. 32 Pero había que celebrar esto con un banquete y alegrarnos, porque tu hermano, que estaba muerto, ha vuelto a vivir; se había perdido y lo hemos encontrado.”»

Parábola de la oveja perdida(A)
15 Muchos recaudadores de impuestos y pecadores se acercaban a Jesús para oírlo, 2 de modo que los fariseos y los maestros de la Ley se pusieron a murmurar: «Este hombre recibe a los pecadores y come con ellos».
3 Él entonces contó esta parábola: 4 «Supongamos que uno de ustedes tiene cien ovejas y pierde una de ellas. ¿No deja las noventa y nueve en el campo y va en busca de la oveja perdida hasta encontrarla? 5 Y cuando la encuentra, lleno de alegría, la carga en los hombros 6 y vuelve a la casa. Al llegar, reúne a sus amigos y vecinos y les dice: “Alégrense conmigo; ya encontré la oveja que se me había perdido”. 7 Les digo que así es también en el cielo: habrá más alegría por un solo pecador que se arrepienta que por noventa y nueve justos que no necesitan arrepentirse.

11 »Un hombre tenía dos hijos —continuó Jesús—. 12 El menor de ellos dijo a su padre: “Papá, dame lo que me toca de la herencia”. Así que el padre repartió sus bienes entre los dos. 13 Poco después el hijo menor juntó todo lo que tenía y se fue a un país lejano; allí vivió desenfrenadamente y derrochó su herencia.
14 »Cuando ya lo había gastado todo, sobrevino una gran escasez en la región y él comenzó a pasar necesidad. 15 Así que fue y consiguió empleo con un ciudadano de aquel país, quien lo mandó a sus campos a cuidar cerdos. 16 Tanta hambre tenía que hubiera querido llenarse el estómago con la comida que daban a los cerdos, pero aun así nadie le daba nada. 17 Por fin recapacitó y se dijo: “¡Cuántos jornaleros de mi padre tienen comida de sobra y yo aquí me muero de hambre! 18 Me levantaré e iré a mi padre y le diré: Papá, he pecado contra el cielo y contra ti. 19 Ya no merezco que se me llame tu hijo; trátame como si fuera uno de tus jornaleros”. 20 Así que emprendió el viaje y se fue a su padre.
»Todavía estaba lejos cuando su padre lo vio y se compadeció de él; salió corriendo a su encuentro, lo abrazó y lo besó. 21 El joven le dijo: “Papá, he pecado contra el cielo y contra ti. Ya no merezco que se me llame tu hijo”.[b] 22 Pero el padre ordenó a sus siervos: “¡Pronto! Traigan la mejor ropa para vestirlo. 25 »Mientras tanto, el hijo mayor estaba en el campo. Al volver, cuando se acercó a la casa, oyó que había música y danza. 26 Entonces llamó a uno de los siervos y le preguntó qué pasaba. 27 “Tu hermano ha llegado —le respondió—, y tu papá ha matado el ternero más gordo porque lo ha recobrado sano y salvo”. 28 Indignado, el hermano mayor se negó a entrar. Así que su padre salió a suplicarle que lo hiciera. 29 Pero él contestó: “¡Fíjate cuántos años te he servido sin desobedecer jamás tus órdenes y ni un cabrito me has dado para celebrar una fiesta con mis amigos! 30 ¡Pero ahora llega ese hijo tuyo, que ha despilfarrado tu fortuna con prostitutas, y tú mandas matar en su honor el ternero más gordo!”.
31 »“Hijo mío —le dijo su padre—, tú siempre estás conmigo y todo lo que tengo es tuyo. 32 Pero teníamos que hacer fiesta y alegrarnos, porque este hermano tuyo estaba muerto, pero ahora ha vuelto a la vida; se había perdido, pero ya lo hemos encontrado”».

15 Then (B)all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man [a]receives sinners (C)and eats with them.” 3 So He spoke this parable to them, saying:
4 (D)“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, (E)‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep (F)which was lost!’ 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents (G)than over ninety-nine [b]just persons who (H)need no repentance.

11 Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them (I)his livelihood. 13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with [d]prodigal living. 14 But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. 15 Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the [e]pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything.
17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, (J)I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” ’
20 “And he arose and came to his father. But (K)when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven (L)and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, [f]‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. 23 And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; 24 (M)for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.
25 “Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’
28 “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. 29 So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. 30 But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’
31 “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. 32 It was right that we should make merry and be glad, (N)for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’ ”

15 Now the tax collectors(B) and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”(C)
3 Then Jesus told them this parable:(D) 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?(E) 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’(F) 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.(G)

17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned(O) against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.(P)
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.(Q) I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe(R) and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger(S) and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property(W) with prostitutes(X) comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”(Y)

Sinabi nila, “Tinatanggap ng taong ito ang mga makasalanan at nakikisalo siya sa kanila.” 3 Kaya't isinalaysay niya sa kanila ang talinghagang ito: 4 “Sino sa inyo na may isandaang tupa at mawala ang isa, ang hindi mag-iiwan sa siyamnapu't siyam sa ilang at maghahanap sa nawala hanggang ito'y matagpuan? 5 Kapag natagpuan na niya ito ay nagagalak niya itong papasanin, 6 at pagdating sa bahay ay aanyayahan niya ang kanyang mga kaibigan at kapitbahay at sasabihin sa kanila, ‘Makipagsaya kayo sa akin, sapagkat natagpuan ko ang aking nawalang tupa.’ 7 Sinasabi ko sa inyo, sa gayunding paraan, magkakaroon ng higit pang kagalakan sa langit dahil sa isang makasalanang nagsisi kaysa siyamnapu't siyam na matutuwid na hindi nangangailangan ng pagsisisi.”

Doon ay nilustay niya ang kanyang kabuhayan sa maaksayang pamumuhay. 14 Nang maubos na niya ang lahat, nagkaroon ng matinding taggutom sa lupaing iyon kaya nagsimula na siyang mangailangan. 15 Namasukan siya sa isang mamamayan sa lupaing iyon at ipinadala siya nito sa bukid upang magpakain ng mga baboy. 16 Dahil sa gutom ay gusto na niyang kainin kahit ang mga pinagbalatan ng gulay na kinakain ng mga baboy ngunit wala kahit isa man na nagbigay sa kanya ng anuman. 17 Subalit nang matauhan ay sinabi niya sa kanyang sarili, ‘Marami sa mga upahang lingkod ng aking ama ang sobra-sobra sa busog sa pagkain, samantalang ako rito'y namamatay sa gutom. 18 Babalik ako sa aking ama at sasabihin kong, “Ama, nagkasala ako laban sa langit at laban sa iyo. 19 Hindi na ako karapat-dapat tawaging iyong anak. Ituring mo ako bilang isa sa iyong mga upahang lingkod.” ’ 20 Kaya siya ay tumindig at umuwi sa kanyang ama. Ngunit malayo pa lang siya ay natanaw na siya ng kanyang ama at labis itong naawa sa kanya. Tumakbo ito sa kanya, niyakap siya at hinalikan. 21 Sinabi ng anak, ‘Ama, nagkasala ako laban sa langit at laban sa iyo. Hindi na ako karapat-dapat tawaging iyong anak.’ 22 Ngunit sinabi ng ama sa kanyang mga lingkod, ‘Magmadali kayo! Dalhin ninyo rito ang pinakamagandang balabal at isuot sa kanya. Suotan ninyo ng singsing ang kanyang daliri at ng mga sandalyas ang kanyang mga paa. 23 Kunin ninyo ang pinatabang guya at katayin. Tayo ay kakain at magdiriwang! 24 Sapagkat patay ang anak kong ito ngunit muling nabuhay. Siya ay nawala ngunit natagpuan.’ At nagsimula nga silang magdiwang.
25 “Nasa bukid noon ang nakatatandang anak at sa kanyang pag-uwi, nang malapit na siya sa bahay ay nakarinig siya ng tugtugan at sayawan. 26 Tinawag niya ang isa sa mga lingkod at tinanong kung ano ang nangyayari. 27 At sinabi nito sa kanya, ‘Narito na ang iyong kapatid! Ipinagkatay siya ng iyong ama ng pinatabang guya. Sapagkat nabawi siya ng iyong ama na ligtas at malusog.’ 28 Nagalit ang nakatatandang anak at ayaw pumasok. Kaya't lumabas ang kanyang ama at nakiusap sa kanya. 29 Ngunit sumagot siya sa kanyang ama, ‘Nakikita po ninyo na maraming taon na akong naglilingkod sa inyo at hindi ko sinuway kailanman ang inyong utos. Ngunit hindi ninyo ako binigyan ng kahit isang kambing upang makipagsaya ako sa aking mga kaibigan. 30 Subalit nang bumalik ang anak mong ito na naglustay ng iyong kabuhayan sa masasamang babae, ipinagkatay mo pa siya ng pinatabang guya.’ 31 Kaya't sinabi ng ama sa kanya, ‘Anak, lagi kitang kapiling at sa iyo ang lahat ng sa akin. 32 Ngunit nararapat lamang tayong magsaya at magalak sapagkat patay ang kapatid mong ito ngunit muling nabuhay. Siya ay nawala ngunit natagpuan.’ ”
