9 Si es así, el que los invitó a los dos vendrá y te dirá: “Cédele tu asiento a este hombre”. Entonces, avergonzado, tendrás que ocupar el último asiento. 10 Más bien, cuando te inviten, siéntate en el último lugar, para que cuando venga el que te invitó, te diga: “Amigo, pasa más adelante a un lugar mejor”. Así recibirás honor en presencia de todos los demás invitados. 11 Porque todo el que a sí mismo se enaltece será humillado y el que se humilla será enaltecido.

9 If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. 10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. 11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(A)

9 At sa paglapit ng nag-anyaya sa inyong dalawa ay sasabihin niya, ‘Ibigay mo sa taong ito ang iyong upuan.’ Mapapahiya ka lamang at uupo sa pinakaabang upuan. 10 Sa halip, kung naanyayahan ka, pumunta ka at umupo sa pinakaabang upuan. Pagdating ng nag-anyaya sa iyo, sasabihin niya sa iyo, ‘Kaibigan, lumipat ka sa mas marangal na upuan.’ Sa gayon ay mabibigyan ka ng dangal sa harap ng mga kasalo mo. 11 Sapagkat ibababa ang sinumang nagtataas ng sarili ngunit ang nagpapakababa ay itataas.”

10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
