El que no se arrepiente perecerá
13 En aquella ocasión, algunos que habían llegado contaron a Jesús cómo Pilato había dado muerte a unos galileos cuando ellos ofrecían sus sacrificios.[a] 2 Jesús respondió: «¿Piensan ustedes que esos galileos por haber sufrido así eran más pecadores que todos los demás galileos? 3 ¡Les digo que no! De la misma manera, todos ustedes perecerán a menos que se arrepientan. 4 ¿O piensan que aquellos dieciocho que fueron aplastados por la torre de Siloé eran más culpables que todos los demás habitantes de Jerusalén? 5 ¡Les digo que no! De la misma manera, todos ustedes perecerán a menos que se arrepientan».
6 Entonces les contó esta parábola: «Un hombre tenía una higuera plantada en su viñedo, pero cuando fue a buscar fruto en ella, no encontró nada. 7 Así que dijo al viñador: “Mira, ya hace tres años que vengo a buscar fruto en esta higuera y no he encontrado nada. ¡Córtala! ¿Para qué ha de ocupar terreno?”. 8 “Señor —contestó el viñador—, déjela todavía por un año más, para que yo pueda cavar a su alrededor y echarle abono. 9 Tal vez así, más adelante dé fruto; de lo contrario, córtela”».
Jesús sana en sábado a una mujer encorvada
10 Un sábado, Jesús estaba enseñando en una de las sinagogas 11 y estaba allí una mujer que por causa de un espíritu llevaba dieciocho años enferma. Andaba encorvada y de ningún modo podía enderezarse. 12 Cuando Jesús la vio, la llamó y dijo:
—¡Mujer, quedas libre de tu enfermedad!
13 Al mismo tiempo, puso las manos sobre ella; al instante la mujer se enderezó y empezó a alabar a Dios. 14 Indignado porque Jesús había sanado en sábado, el jefe de la sinagoga intervino, dirigiéndose a la gente:
—Hay seis días en que se puede trabajar, así que vengan esos días para ser sanados y no el sábado.
15 —¡Hipócritas! —le contestó el Señor—. ¿Acaso no desata cada uno de ustedes su buey o su burro en sábado y lo saca del establo para llevarlo a tomar agua? 16 Sin embargo, a esta mujer, que es hija de Abraham y a quien Satanás tenía atada durante dieciocho largos años, ¿no se le debía quitar esta cadena en sábado?
17 Cuando razonó así, quedaron humillados todos sus adversarios, pero la gente estaba encantada de tantas maravillas que él hacía.
Parábolas del grano de mostaza y de la levadura(A)(B)
18 —¿A qué se parece el reino de Dios? —continuó Jesús—. ¿Con qué voy a compararlo? 19 Se parece a una semilla de mostaza que un hombre sembró en su huerto. Creció hasta convertirse en un árbol y las aves anidaron en sus ramas.
20 Volvió a decir:
—¿Con qué voy a comparar el reino de Dios? 21 Es como la levadura que una mujer tomó y mezcló con tres medidas[b] de harina, hasta que hizo crecer toda la masa.
La puerta estrecha
22 Continuando su viaje a Jerusalén, Jesús enseñaba en los pueblos y aldeas por donde pasaba.
23 —Señor, ¿son pocos los que van a salvarse? —le preguntó uno.
24 —Esfuércense por entrar por la puerta estrecha —contestó—, porque les digo que muchos tratarán de entrar y no podrán. 25 Tan pronto como el dueño de la casa se haya levantado a cerrar la puerta, ustedes desde afuera se pondrán a golpear la puerta, diciendo: “¡Señor, ábrenos!”. Pero él les contestará: “No sé de dónde son ustedes”. 26 Entonces dirán: “Comimos y bebimos contigo, y tú enseñaste en nuestras plazas”. 27 Pero él les contestará: “Les repito que no sé de dónde son ustedes. ¡Apártense de mí, todos ustedes hacedores de injusticia!”.
28 »Allí habrá llanto y crujir de dientes cuando vean en el reino de Dios a Abraham, Isaac, Jacob y a todos los profetas, mientras a ustedes los echan fuera. 29 Habrá quienes lleguen del oriente y del occidente, del norte y del sur, y participarán en el banquete en el reino de Dios. 30 En efecto, hay últimos que serán primeros y primeros que serán últimos.
Lamento de Jesús sobre Jerusalén(C)
31 En ese momento se acercaron a Jesús unos fariseos y dijeron:
—Sal de aquí y vete a otro lugar, porque Herodes quiere matarte.
32 Él contestó:
—Vayan y díganle a ese zorro: “Mira, hoy y mañana seguiré expulsando demonios y sanando a la gente. Al tercer día terminaré lo que debo hacer”. 33 Pero tengo que seguir adelante hoy, mañana y pasado mañana, porque no puede ser que muera un profeta fuera de Jerusalén.
34 »¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, que matas a los profetas y apedreas a los que se te envían! ¡Cuántas veces quise reunir a tus hijos, como reúne la gallina a sus pollitos debajo de sus alas, pero no quisiste! 35 Pues bien, la casa de ustedes va a quedar abandonada. Y les advierto que ya no volverán a verme hasta que digan: “¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor!”.[c]

13 Por aquel tiempo, algunos le dijeron a Jesús que Pilato, el gobernador romano, había mandado matar a varios hombres de la región de Galilea. Esto les había sucedido mientras ellos estaban en el templo ofreciendo sacrificios a Dios. 2 Jesús les dijo:
«¿Creen ustedes que esos hombres murieron porque eran más malos que los demás habitantes de Galilea? 3 ¡De ninguna manera! Y si ustedes no cambian su manera de vivir ni obedecen a Dios, de seguro morirán. 4 Acuérdense de los dieciocho que murieron cuando se les vino encima la torre que se derrumbó en Siloé. ¿Creen ustedes que eso les pasó porque eran más malos que todos los habitantes de Jerusalén? 5 ¡De ninguna manera! Y si ustedes no cambian su manera de vivir ni obedecen a Dios, también morirán.»
La higuera
6 Además, Jesús les puso este ejemplo:
«Un hombre había sembrado una higuera en su viñedo. Un día, fue a ver si el árbol tenía higos, pero no encontró ninguno. 7 Entonces le dijo al encargado del viñedo: “Tres años seguidos he venido a ver si esta higuera ya tiene higos, y nunca encuentro nada. Córtala, pues sólo está ocupando terreno.” 8 El encargado le dijo: “Señor, deje usted la higuera un año más. Aflojaré la tierra a su alrededor, y le pondré abono. 9 Si el próximo año da higos, la dejará vivir; si no, puede ordenar que la corten.”»
Jesús sana a una mujer
10 Un sábado, Jesús estaba enseñando en una sinagoga. 11 Allí había una mujer que tenía dieciocho años de estar jorobada. Un espíritu malo la había dejado así, y no podía enderezarse para nada. 12 Cuando Jesús la vio, la llamó y le dijo: «¡Mujer, quedas libre de tu enfermedad!» 13 Jesús puso sus manos sobre ella, y en ese momento la mujer se enderezó y comenzó a alabar a Dios.
14 El jefe de la sinagoga se enojó mucho con Jesús, por lo que Jesús había hecho en un día de descanso obligatorio. Por eso, le dijo a la gente que estaba reunida: «La semana tiene seis días para trabajar, y uno para descansar. Ustedes deben venir para ser sanados en uno de esos seis días, pero no en sábado.»
15 Jesús contestó: «¿A quién tratan de engañar? Ustedes llevan a su buey o a su burro a beber agua el día sábado, 16 y esta mujer vale mucho más que un buey o un burro, porque es descendiente de Abraham. Si Satanás la tuvo enferma durante dieciocho años, ¿por qué no podría ser sanada en un día sábado?»
17 Cuando Jesús dijo esto, sus enemigos quedaron avergonzados. El resto de la gente, en cambio, se puso muy feliz al ver las cosas tan maravillosas que Jesús hacía.
La semilla de mostaza
18 Jesús también les dijo:
«¿Cómo les puedo explicar qué es el reino de Dios? ¿Con qué puedo compararlo? 19 Se puede comparar con la semilla de mostaza: Cuando un hombre va y la siembra en su terreno, ella crece y se convierte en un árbol grande, tan grande que hasta los pájaros vienen y hacen nidos en sus ramas.»
La levadura
20 Jesús también les dijo:
«¿Con qué más puedo comparar el reino de Dios? 21 Se puede comparar con lo que sucede cuando una mujer pone un poquito de levadura en un montón de harina. ¡Ese poquito hace crecer toda la masa!»
La entrada estrecha
22 Durante el viaje hacia Jerusalén, Jesús pasaba por los pueblos y aldeas y enseñaba a la gente. 23 Un día, alguien le preguntó:
—Señor, ¿serán pocos los que se van a salvar?
Jesús contestó:
24 «Traten de entrar por la entrada estrecha. Porque muchos querrán entrar al reino de Dios y no podrán. 25 Cuando Dios cierre la puerta, si ustedes están afuera ya no podrán entrar. Tocarán a la puerta y dirán: “¡Señor, ábrenos!” Pero yo les diré: “No sé quiénes sean ustedes, ni de dónde vengan.” 26 Y ustedes dirán: “Nosotros comimos y bebimos contigo; además, tú enseñaste en las calles de nuestro pueblo.” 27 Pero yo les contestaré: “¡Ya les dije que no los conozco! ¡Gente malvada, apártense de mí!”
28 »Ustedes se quedarán afuera, y llorarán y les rechinarán de terror los dientes, porque verán en el reino de Dios a sus antepasados Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, y a los profetas. 29 De todas partes del mundo vendrán a la gran cena que Dios dará en su reino. 30 Allí, los que ahora son los menos importantes, serán los más importantes. Y los que ahora son importantes, serán los menos importantes.»
Jesús y Herodes
31 En ese momento llegaron unos fariseos, y le dijeron a Jesús:
—¡Huye, porque el rey Herodes Antipas quiere matarte!
32 Jesús les dijo:
—Vayan y díganle a esa zorra[a] que hoy y mañana estaré expulsando demonios y curando a los enfermos, y que el tercer día ya habré terminado. 33 Aunque, en verdad, hoy, mañana y pasado mañana deberé seguir mi viaje hasta llegar a Jerusalén. Después de todo, allí es donde matan a los profetas.
Jesús llora por la gente de Jerusalén
34 »¡Habitantes de Jerusalén! ¡Ustedes matan a los profetas y a los mensajeros que Dios les envía! Muchas veces quise protegerlos a ustedes, como la gallina que cuida a sus pollitos debajo de sus alas, pero ustedes no me dejaron. 35 Por eso su templo quedará abandonado. Y les aseguro que no volverán a verme, hasta que digan: “¡Bendito el Mesías que viene en el nombre de Dios!”»

10 Isang araw ng Sabbath, nagtuturo si Jesus sa isang sinagoga. 11 Naroon ang isang babaing labingwalong taon nang may espiritu ng kapansanan. Hukot ang kanyang katawan at hindi na niya makayang makaunat. 12 Nang makita ni Jesus ang babae, tinawag niya ito at sinabi sa kanya, “Babae, kinalagan ka na sa iyong kapansanan.” 13 At ipinatong niya ang kanyang kamay sa babae at nakaunat ito at nagpuri sa Diyos. 14 Ngunit ikinagalit ng pinuno ng sinagoga ang pagpapagaling ni Jesus nang Sabbath kaya't sinabi niyon sa mga tao, “May anim na araw na dapat magtrabaho, kaya nga sa mga araw na iyon kayo magpunta upang magpagaling at hindi sa araw ng Sabbath.” 15 Sinabi sa kanya ng Panginoon, “Mga mapagkunwari! Hindi ba't kung Sabbath ay kinakalagan ng bawat isa sa inyo ang inyong baka o asno mula sa sabsaban at inilalabas ito upang painumin? 16 Iginapos ni Satanas nang labingwalong taon ang babaing ito na anak ni Abraham. Hindi ba dapat lang na makalagan siya sa pagkakagapos na iyon sa araw ng Sabbath?” 17 Pagkasabi niya noon, napahiya ang lahat ng kumakalaban sa kanya. Nagalak ang buong madla sa lahat ng kahanga-hangang ginawa niya.

18 Sinabi niya, “Saan maihahalintulad ang paghahari ng Diyos at sa ano ko ito maihahambing? 19 Tulad ito ng isang butil ng mustasa na pagkakuha ng isang tao ay inihasik sa kanyang halamanan. Tumubo ito at naging puno at namugad sa mga sanga nito ang mga ibon sa langit.”
20 At muli ay sinabi niya, “Sa ano ko maihahalintulad ang paghahari ng Diyos? 21 Tulad ito ng pampaalsa na kinuha ng isang babae at inihalo sa tatlong takal ng harina hanggang sa mapaalsa nito ang buong masa.”

22 Nagturo si Jesus sa mga bayan at nayon habang naglalakbay patungong Jerusalem. 23 Minsan ay may nagtanong sa kanya, “Panginoon, kakaunti ba ang maliligtas?” Kaya't sinabi niya sa kanila, 24 “Pagsikapan ninyong pumasok sa makipot na pintuan sapagkat, sinasabi ko sa inyo, marami ang magsisikap pumasok doon ngunit hindi makapapasok. 25 Sa sandaling tumayo na ang panginoon ng bahay at naisara na ang pinto, magsisimula na kayong tumayo sa labas at tumuktok sa pintuan at sasabihin ninyo, ‘Panginoon, pagbuksan po ninyo kami!’ Sasabihin niya sa inyo bilang sagot, ‘Hindi ko alam kung tagasaan kayo!’ 26 Kaya't sasabihin ninyo, ‘Kumain po kami at uminom na kasama ninyo at nagturo kayo sa aming mga lansangan.’ 27 Subalit sasabihin niya, ‘Hindi ko alam kung tagasaan kayo! Layuan ninyo ako, kayong lahat na gumagawa ng kasamaan!’ 28 Magkakaroon ng pagtangis at pagngangalit ng ngipin kapag nakita ninyo sa kaharian ng Diyos sina Abraham, Isaac, at Jacob at lahat ng mga propeta, habang kayo'y ipinagtatabuyan palabas. 29 May mga taong manggagaling sa silangan at kanluran, sa hilaga at sa timog, at kakain sa handaan sa kaharian ng Diyos. 30 Makinig kayo: May mga huling mauuna at may mga unang mahuhuli.”

Sa ikatlong araw ay matatapos ko na ang aking gawain. 33 Gayunman, kailangan kong magpatuloy sa aking paglalakbay ngayon at bukas at sa makalawa. Sapagkat hindi maaaring ang isang propeta ay mamatay sa labas ng Jerusalem. 34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Ikaw na pumapatay sa mga propeta at bumabato sa mga isinugo sa iyo! 15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
20 And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?
21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
22 And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
31 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.
32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!
35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Repent or Perish
13 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate(A) had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?(B) 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam(C) fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent,(D) you too will all perish.”
6 Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any.(E) 7 So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down!(F) Why should it use up the soil?’
8 “‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. 9 If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’”
Jesus Heals a Crippled Woman on the Sabbath
10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues,(G) 11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years.(H) She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” 13 Then he put his hands on her,(I) and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath,(J) the synagogue leader(K) said to the people, “There are six days for work.(L) So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”
15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?(M) 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham,(N) whom Satan(O) has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”
17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated,(P) but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.
The Parables of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast(Q)(R)
18 Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God(S) like?(T) What shall I compare it to? 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree,(U) and the birds perched in its branches.”(V)
20 Again he asked, “What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? 21 It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds[a] of flour until it worked all through the dough.”(W)
The Narrow Door
22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem.(X) 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”
He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door,(Y) because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’
“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’(Z)
26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’
27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’(AA)
28 “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth,(AB) when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. 29 People will come from east and west(AC) and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. 30 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”(AD)

31 At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod(AG) wants to kill you.”
32 He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’(AH) 33 In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet(AI) can die outside Jerusalem!
34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,(AJ) and you were not willing. 35 Look, your house is left to you desolate.(AK) I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’[b]”(AL)
