¹⁸ Do not take revenge^(A) or bear a grudge against members of your community, but love your neighbor as yourself;^(B) I am the Lord.

³⁴ You will regard the alien who resides with you as the native-born among you. You are to love him as yourself,^(A) for you were aliens in the land of Egypt;^(B) I am the Lord your God.

¹⁶ I commanded your judges at that time: Hear the cases between your brothers, and judge rightly between a man and his brother or his resident alien. ¹⁷ Do not show partiality when deciding a case;^(A) listen to small and great alike. Do not be intimidated by anyone, for judgment belongs to God.^(B) Bring me any case too difficult for you, and I will hear it.

¹² House of David, this is what the Lord says:

³ This is what the Lord says: Administer justice and righteousness.^(A) Rescue the victim of robbery from his oppressor.^(B) Don’t exploit or brutalize the resident alien, the fatherless, or the widow.^(C) Don’t shed innocent blood in this place.

⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies^[a] and pray for those who^[b] persecute you,^{(A) 45} so that you may be^[c] children of your Father in heaven. For he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.^{(B) 46} For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? ⁴⁷ And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what are you doing out of the ordinary?^[d](C) Don’t even the Gentiles^[e] do the same? ⁴⁸ Be perfect,^(D) therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

¹² Therefore, whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.^(A)
