Leviticus 1-2
New International Version
The Burnt Offering
1 The Lord called to Moses(A) and spoke to him from the tent of meeting.(B) He said, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When anyone among you brings an offering to the Lord,(C) bring as your offering an animal from either the herd or the flock.(D)
3 “‘If the offering is a burnt offering(E) from the herd,(F) you are to offer a male without defect.(G) You must present it at the entrance to the tent(H) of meeting so that it will be acceptable(I) to the Lord. 4 You are to lay your hand on the head(J) of the burnt offering,(K) and it will be accepted(L) on your behalf to make atonement(M) for you. 5 You are to slaughter(N) the young bull(O) before the Lord, and then Aaron’s sons(P) the priests shall bring the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar(Q) at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 6 You are to skin(R) the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.(S) 7 The sons of Aaron the priest are to put fire on the altar and arrange wood(T) on the fire. 8 Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat,(U) on the wood(V) that is burning on the altar. 9 You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water,(W) and the priest is to burn all of it(X) on the altar.(Y) It is a burnt offering,(Z) a food offering,(AA) an aroma pleasing to the Lord.(AB)
10 “‘If the offering is a burnt offering from the flock, from either the sheep(AC) or the goats,(AD) you are to offer a male without defect. 11 You are to slaughter it at the north side of the altar(AE) before the Lord, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall splash its blood against the sides of the altar.(AF) 12 You are to cut it into pieces, and the priest shall arrange them, including the head and the fat,(AG) on the wood that is burning on the altar. 13 You are to wash the internal organs and the legs with water,(AH) and the priest is to bring all of them and burn them(AI) on the altar.(AJ) It is a burnt offering,(AK) a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
14 “‘If the offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, you are to offer a dove or a young pigeon.(AL) 15 The priest shall bring it to the altar, wring off the head(AM) and burn it on the altar; its blood shall be drained out on the side of the altar.(AN) 16 He is to remove the crop and the feathers[a] and throw them down east of the altar where the ashes(AO) are. 17 He shall tear it open by the wings, not dividing it completely,(AP) and then the priest shall burn it on the wood(AQ) that is burning on the altar. It is a burnt offering, a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
The Grain Offering
2 “‘When anyone brings a grain offering(AR) to the Lord, their offering is to be of the finest flour.(AS) They are to pour olive oil(AT) on it,(AU) put incense on it(AV) 2 and take it to Aaron’s sons the priests. The priest shall take a handful of the flour(AW) and oil, together with all the incense,(AX) and burn this as a memorial[b] portion(AY) on the altar, a food offering,(AZ) an aroma pleasing to the Lord.(BA) 3 The rest of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons;(BB) it is a most holy(BC) part of the food offerings presented to the Lord.
4 “‘If you bring a grain offering baked in an oven,(BD) it is to consist of the finest flour: either thick loaves made without yeast and with olive oil mixed in or thin loaves(BE) made without yeast and brushed with olive oil.(BF) 5 If your grain offering is prepared on a griddle,(BG) it is to be made of the finest flour mixed with oil, and without yeast. 6 Crumble it and pour oil on it; it is a grain offering. 7 If your grain offering is cooked in a pan,(BH) it is to be made of the finest flour and some olive oil. 8 Bring the grain offering made of these things to the Lord; present it to the priest, who shall take it to the altar. 9 He shall take out the memorial portion(BI) from the grain offering and burn it on the altar as a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.(BJ) 10 The rest of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons;(BK) it is a most holy part of the food offerings presented to the Lord.(BL)
11 “‘Every grain offering you bring to the Lord must be made without yeast,(BM) for you are not to burn any yeast or honey in a food offering presented to the Lord. 12 You may bring them to the Lord as an offering of the firstfruits,(BN) but they are not to be offered on the altar as a pleasing aroma. 13 Season all your grain offerings with salt.(BO) Do not leave the salt of the covenant(BP) of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings.
14 “‘If you bring a grain offering of firstfruits(BQ) to the Lord, offer crushed heads of new grain roasted in the fire. 15 Put oil and incense(BR) on it; it is a grain offering. 16 The priest shall burn the memorial portion(BS) of the crushed grain and the oil, together with all the incense,(BT) as a food offering presented to the Lord.(BU)

Mark 1:29-2:17
New International Version
Jesus Heals Many(A)(B)
29 As soon as they left the synagogue,(C) they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up.(D) The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.(E) 33 The whole town gathered at the door, 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.(F) He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.(G)
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place(H)
35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.(I) 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”(J) 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues(K) and driving out demons.(L)
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(M)
40 A man with leprosy[a] came to him and begged him on his knees,(N) “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
41 Jesus was indignant.[b] He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
43 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: 44 “See that you don’t tell this to anyone.(O) But go, show yourself to the priest(P) and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing,(Q) as a testimony to them.” 45 Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places.(R) Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.(S)
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man(T)
2 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers(U) that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man,(V) carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”(W)
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”(X)
8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man(Y) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God,(Z) saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”(AA)
Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners(AB)
13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him,(AC) and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,”(AD) Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees(AE) saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”(AF)
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”(AG)
Psalm 86-89
New International Version
Psalm 86
A prayer of David.
1 Hear me, Lord, and answer(A) me,
for I am poor and needy.
2 Guard my life, for I am faithful to you;
save your servant who trusts in you.(B)
You are my God; 3 have mercy(C) on me, Lord,
for I call(D) to you all day long.
4 Bring joy to your servant, Lord,
for I put my trust(E) in you.
5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love(F) to all who call to you.
6 Hear my prayer, Lord;
listen to my cry(G) for mercy.
7 When I am in distress,(H) I call(I) to you,
because you answer(J) me.
8 Among the gods(K) there is none like you,(L) Lord;
no deeds can compare with yours.
9 All the nations you have made
will come(M) and worship(N) before you, Lord;
they will bring glory(O) to your name.
10 For you are great(P) and do marvelous deeds;(Q)
you alone(R) are God.
11 Teach me your way,(S) Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;(T)
give me an undivided(U) heart,
that I may fear(V) your name.
12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;(W)
I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your love toward me;
you have delivered me(X) from the depths,
from the realm of the dead.(Y)
14 Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God;
ruthless people are trying to kill me—
they have no regard for you.(Z)
15 But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious(AA) God,
slow to anger,(AB) abounding(AC) in love and faithfulness.(AD)
16 Turn to me(AE) and have mercy(AF) on me;
show your strength(AG) in behalf of your servant;
save me, because I serve you
just as my mother did.(AH)
17 Give me a sign(AI) of your goodness,
that my enemies may see it and be put to shame,
for you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
Psalm 87
Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. A song.
1 He has founded his city on the holy mountain.(AJ)
2 The Lord loves the gates of Zion(AK)
more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.
3 Glorious things are said of you,
city of God:[a](AL)
4 “I will record Rahab[b](AM) and Babylon
among those who acknowledge me—
Philistia(AN) too, and Tyre(AO), along with Cush[c]—
and will say, ‘This one was born in Zion.’”[d](AP)
5 Indeed, of Zion it will be said,
“This one and that one were born in her,
and the Most High himself will establish her.”
6 The Lord will write in the register(AQ) of the peoples:
“This one was born in Zion.”
Psalm 88[e]
A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah. For the director of music. According to mahalath leannoth.[f] A maskil[g] of Heman the Ezrahite.
1 Lord, you are the God who saves me;(AT)
day and night I cry out(AU) to you.
2 May my prayer come before you;
turn your ear to my cry.
3 I am overwhelmed with troubles(AV)
and my life draws near to death.(AW)
4 I am counted among those who go down to the pit;(AX)
I am like one without strength.(AY)
5 I am set apart with the dead,
like the slain who lie in the grave,
whom you remember no more,
who are cut off(AZ) from your care.
6 You have put me in the lowest pit,
in the darkest depths.(BA)
7 Your wrath(BB) lies heavily on me;
you have overwhelmed me with all your waves.[h](BC)
8 You have taken from me my closest friends(BD)
and have made me repulsive to them.
I am confined(BE) and cannot escape;(BF)
9 my eyes(BG) are dim with grief.
I call(BH) to you, Lord, every day;
I spread out my hands(BI) to you.
10 Do you show your wonders to the dead?
Do their spirits rise up and praise you?(BJ)
11 Is your love declared in the grave,
your faithfulness(BK) in Destruction[i]?
12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness,
or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?
13 But I cry to you for help,(BL) Lord;
in the morning(BM) my prayer comes before you.(BN)
14 Why, Lord, do you reject(BO) me
and hide your face(BP) from me?
15 From my youth(BQ) I have suffered(BR) and been close to death;
I have borne your terrors(BS) and am in despair.(BT)
16 Your wrath(BU) has swept over me;
your terrors(BV) have destroyed me.
17 All day long they surround me like a flood;(BW)
they have completely engulfed me.
18 You have taken from me friend(BX) and neighbor—
darkness is my closest friend.
Psalm 89[j]
A maskil[k] of Ethan the Ezrahite.
1 I will sing(BY) of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known(BZ)
through all generations.
2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.(CA)
3 You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to David my servant,
4 ‘I will establish your line forever
and make your throne firm through all generations.’”[l](CB)
5 The heavens(CC) praise your wonders, Lord,
your faithfulness too, in the assembly(CD) of the holy ones.
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?(CE)
7 In the council(CF) of the holy ones(CG) God is greatly feared;
he is more awesome than all who surround him.(CH)
8 Who is like you,(CI) Lord God Almighty?(CJ)
You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
9 You rule over the surging sea;
when its waves mount up, you still them.(CK)
10 You crushed Rahab(CL) like one of the slain;
with your strong arm you scattered(CM) your enemies.
11 The heavens are yours,(CN) and yours also the earth;(CO)
you founded the world and all that is in it.(CP)
12 You created the north and the south;
Tabor(CQ) and Hermon(CR) sing for joy(CS) at your name.
13 Your arm is endowed with power;
your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.(CT)
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;(CU)
love and faithfulness go before you.(CV)
15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
who walk(CW) in the light(CX) of your presence, Lord.
16 They rejoice in your name(CY) all day long;
they celebrate your righteousness.
17 For you are their glory and strength,(CZ)
and by your favor you exalt our horn.[m](DA)
18 Indeed, our shield[n](DB) belongs to the Lord,
our king(DC) to the Holy One of Israel.
19 Once you spoke in a vision,
to your faithful people you said:
“I have bestowed strength on a warrior;
I have raised up a young man from among the people.
20 I have found David(DD) my servant;(DE)
with my sacred oil(DF) I have anointed(DG) him.
21 My hand will sustain him;
surely my arm will strengthen him.(DH)
22 The enemy will not get the better of him;(DI)
the wicked will not oppress(DJ) him.
23 I will crush his foes before him(DK)
and strike down his adversaries.(DL)
24 My faithful love will be with him,(DM)
and through my name his horn[o] will be exalted.
25 I will set his hand over the sea,
his right hand over the rivers.(DN)
26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father,(DO)
my God, the Rock(DP) my Savior.’(DQ)
27 And I will appoint him to be my firstborn,(DR)
the most exalted(DS) of the kings(DT) of the earth.
28 I will maintain my love to him forever,
and my covenant with him will never fail.(DU)
29 I will establish his line forever,
his throne as long as the heavens endure.(DV)
30 “If his sons forsake my law
and do not follow my statutes,
31 if they violate my decrees
and fail to keep my commands,
32 I will punish their sin with the rod,
their iniquity with flogging;(DW)
33 but I will not take my love from him,(DX)
nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
34 I will not violate my covenant
or alter what my lips have uttered.(DY)
35 Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness—
and I will not lie to David—
36 that his line will continue forever
and his throne endure before me like the sun;(DZ)
37 it will be established forever like the moon,
the faithful witness in the sky.”(EA)
38 But you have rejected,(EB) you have spurned,
you have been very angry with your anointed one.
39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant
and have defiled his crown in the dust.(EC)
40 You have broken through all his walls(ED)
and reduced his strongholds(EE) to ruins.
41 All who pass by have plundered(EF) him;
he has become the scorn of his neighbors.(EG)
42 You have exalted the right hand of his foes;
you have made all his enemies rejoice.(EH)
43 Indeed, you have turned back the edge of his sword
and have not supported him in battle.(EI)
44 You have put an end to his splendor
and cast his throne to the ground.
45 You have cut short(EJ) the days of his youth;
you have covered him with a mantle of shame.(EK)
46 How long, Lord? Will you hide yourself forever?
How long will your wrath burn like fire?(EL)
47 Remember how fleeting is my life.(EM)
For what futility you have created all humanity!
48 Who can live and not see death,
or who can escape the power of the grave?(EN)
49 Lord, where is your former great love,
which in your faithfulness you swore to David?
50 Remember, Lord, how your servant has[p] been mocked,(EO)
how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,
51 the taunts with which your enemies, Lord, have mocked,
with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.(EP)
52 Praise be to the Lord forever!
Amen and Amen.(EQ)
