13 Eglón hizo una alianza con los amonitas y los amalecitas, y atacó a Israel, tomando posesión de la ciudad de las palmeras. 14 Durante dieciocho años, los israelitas tuvieron que servir a Eglón, 15 hasta que le suplicaron al Señor y él hizo que surgiera alguien para salvarlos. Ese salvador fue un zurdo llamado Ehud, hijo de Guerá, de la tribu de Benjamín.
Un día, los israelitas enviaron el tributo a Eglón por medio de Ehud.

13 Getting the Ammonites(A) and Amalekites(B) to join him, Eglon came and attacked Israel, and they took possession of the City of Palms.[a](C) 14 The Israelites were subject to Eglon king of Moab(D) for eighteen years.
15 Again the Israelites cried out to the Lord, and he gave them a deliverer(E)—Ehud(F), a left-handed(G) man, the son of Gera the Benjamite. The Israelites sent him with tribute(H) to Eglon king of Moab.
