Yahweh Sends Gideon to Save Israel

¹¹ Then ^(A)the angel of Yahweh came and sat under the ^[a]oak that was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the ^(B)Abiezrite as his son ^(C)Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press in order to ^[b]preserve it from the Midianites.

¹⁴ Then Yahweh turned to him and said, “^(A)Go in this strength of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?”

⁶ Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, “^(A)A man of God came to me, and his appearance was like the appearance of the angel of God, very awesome. And I did not ask him where he came from, nor did he tell me his name.

⁸ Then Manoah entreated Yahweh and said, “O Lord, please let ^(A)the man of God whom You have sent come to us again that he may instruct us what to do for the boy who is to be born.”

¹⁰ So the woman ran quickly and told her husband, and she said to him, “Behold, ^(A)the man who came the other day to me has appeared to me.” ¹¹ Then Manoah arose and followed his wife, and when he came to the man he said to him, “Are you ^(B)the man who spoke to the woman?” And he said, “I am.”

¹¹ And ^(A)an angel of the ^[a]Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense. ¹² And Zechariah was troubled when he saw the angel, and ^(B)fear fell upon him. ¹³ But the angel said to him, “^(C)Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will ^[b]bear you a son, and ^(D)you will call his name ^[c]John.
