¹⁶ Then the Lord raised up judges,^[a](A) who saved^(B) them out of the hands of these raiders.

²⁰ All this took about 450 years.

“After this, God gave them judges^(A) until the time of Samuel the prophet.^(B)

¹¹ Then the Lord sent Jerub-Baal,^[a](A) Barak,^[b](B) Jephthah^(C) and Samuel,^[c](D) and he delivered you from the hands of your enemies all around you, so that you lived in safety.

¹⁵ Again the Israelites cried out to the Lord, and he gave them a deliverer^(A)—Ehud^(B), a left-handed^(C) man, the son of Gera the Benjamite. The Israelites sent him with tribute^(D) to Eglon king of Moab.

¹⁴ The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have^(A) and save^(B) Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”

⁵ She held court^(A) under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah^(B) and Bethel^(C) in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went up to her to have their disputes decided.

⁹ But when they cried out^(A) to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer,^(B) Othniel^(C) son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, who saved them. ¹⁰ The Spirit of the Lord came on him,^(D) so that he became Israel’s judge^[a] and went to war. The Lord gave Cushan-Rishathaim^(E) king of Aram^(F) into the hands of Othniel, who overpowered him.
