² The Gazites were told, “Samson has come here.” And they ^(A)surrounded the place and set an ambush for him all night at the gate of the city. They kept quiet all night, saying, “Let us wait till the light of the morning; then we will kill him.”

²⁶ Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. And David was hurrying to get away from Saul. As Saul and his men were closing in on David and his men to capture them,

²⁴ but their ^(A)plot became known to Saul. ^(B)They were watching the gates day and night in order to kill him,

³² At Damascus, the governor under King Aretas ^(A)was guarding the city of Damascus in order to seize me, ^33 (B)but I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall and escaped his hands.

¹⁵ Now therefore you, along with the council, give notice to the tribune to bring him down to you, as though you were going to determine his case more exactly. And we are ready to kill him before he comes near.”

Jesus Delivered to Pilate

27 ^(A)When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people ^(B)took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.

³⁸ But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ^(A)‘This is the heir. Come, ^(B)let us kill him and have his inheritance.’

^11 (A)Saul sent messengers to David's house to watch him, that he might kill him in the morning. But Michal, David's wife, told him, “If you do not escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”

¹⁸ And he was very thirsty, and he called upon the Lord and said, ^(A)“You have granted this great salvation by the hand of your servant, and shall I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”
