5 And it came to pass, when all the melachim of the HaEmori, which were beyond the Yarden westward, and all the melachim of the Kena’ani, which were by the Yam, heard that Hashem had dried up the waters of the Yarden from before the Bnei Yisroel, until they had passed over, their levav sank, neither was there ruach in them any more, because of the Bnei Yisroel.
2 At that time Hashem said unto Yehoshua, Make thee knives of flint, and do a second time the Bris Milah to the Bnei Yisroel.
3 And Yehoshua made him flint knives, and did Bris Milah to the Bnei Yisroel at Givat HaAralot.
4 And this is the reason why Yehoshua did the Bris Milah: Kol HaAm that came out of Mitzrayim, that were zekharim (males), even Kol Anshei HaMilchamah, died in the midbar baderech, after they came out of Mitzrayim.
5 Now Kol HaAm that came out were Mulim (circumcised); but Kol HaAm that were born in the midbar baderech when they came forth out of Mitzrayim, them they had not given Bris Milah.
6 For the Bnei Yisroel walked arba’im shanah in the midbar, until Kol HaGoy that were Anshei HaMilchamah, which came out of Mitzrayim, were consumed, because they obeyed not the Kol Hashem (voice of Hashem); unto whom Hashem swore that He would not show them HaAretz, which Hashem swore unto their Avot that He would give us, Eretz zavat cholov u’devash.
7 And their banim, whom He raised up in their place, them Yehoshua gave Bris Milah; for they were arelim (uncircumcised), because they had not given them Bris Milah baderech.[See Ep 2:11 OJBC.]
8 And it came to pass, when they had done giving Bris Milah to Kol HaGoy, that they abode in their places in the machaneh, until they were chayyah (healed, whole, restored alive).
9 And Hashem said unto Yehoshua, This day galloti (have I rolled away) the reproach of Mitzrayim from off you. Therefore the shem of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.
10 And the Bnei Yisroel encamped at Gilgal, and observed the Pesach on the fourteenth day of the month at erev in the plains of Yericho.
11 And they did eat of the produce of HaAretz on the day after the Pesach, on that very day, matzot, and roasted grain.
12 And the manna ceased on the following day after they had eaten of the produce of HaAretz; neither had the Bnei Yisroel manna any more; but they did eat of the increase of Eretz Kena’an that year.
13 And it came to pass, when Yehoshua was there by Yericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, hinei, there stood an ish in front of him with his cherev drawn in his yad; and Yehoshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14 And he said, Lo (no); but as Sar Tze’va Hashem am I now come. And Yehoshua fell on his face to the ground, and did prostrate himself, and said unto him, What saith Adoni unto his eved?
15 And the Sar Tze’va Hashem said unto Yehoshua, Take off thy sandals from off thy feet; for the makom whereon thou standest is kodesh. And Yehoshua did so.

5 Now when all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings along the coast(A) heard how the Lord had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until they[a] had crossed over, their hearts melted in fear(B) and they no longer had the courage to face the Israelites.
Circumcision and Passover at Gilgal
2 At that time the Lord said to Joshua, “Make flint knives(C) and circumcise(D) the Israelites again.” 3 So Joshua made flint knives and circumcised the Israelites at Gibeath Haaraloth.[b]
4 Now this is why he did so: All those who came out of Egypt—all the men of military age(E)—died in the wilderness on the way after leaving Egypt.(F) 5 All the people that came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness during the journey from Egypt had not. 6 The Israelites had moved about in the wilderness(G) forty years(H) until all the men who were of military age when they left Egypt had died, since they had not obeyed the Lord. For the Lord had sworn to them that they would not see the land he had solemnly promised their ancestors to give us,(I) a land flowing with milk and honey.(J) 7 So he raised up their sons in their place, and these were the ones Joshua circumcised. They were still uncircumcised because they had not been circumcised on the way. 8 And after the whole nation had been circumcised, they remained where they were in camp until they were healed.(K)
9 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” So the place has been called Gilgal[c](L) to this day.
10 On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month,(M) while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover.(N) 11 The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land:(O) unleavened bread(P) and roasted grain.(Q) 12 The manna stopped the day after[d] they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan.(R)
The Fall of Jericho
13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man(S) standing in front of him with a drawn sword(T) in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”
14 “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown(U) to the ground(V) in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord[e] have for his servant?”
15 The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.”(W) And Joshua did so.

5 Cuando todos los reyes de los amorreos que estaban al otro lado del Jordán al occidente, y todos los reyes de los cananeos que estaban cerca del mar, oyeron cómo Jehová había secado las aguas del Jordán delante de los hijos de Israel hasta que hubieron pasado, desfalleció su corazón, y no hubo más aliento en ellos delante de los hijos de Israel.
2 En aquel tiempo Jehová dijo a Josué: Hazte cuchillos afilados, y vuelve a circuncidar la segunda vez a los hijos de Israel. 3 Y Josué se hizo cuchillos afilados, y circuncidó a los hijos de Israel en el collado de Aralot.[a] 4 Esta es la causa por la cual Josué los circuncidó: Todo el pueblo que había salido de Egipto, los varones, todos los hombres de guerra, habían muerto en el desierto, por el camino, después que salieron de Egipto. 5 Pues todos los del pueblo que habían salido, estaban circuncidados; mas todo el pueblo que había nacido en el desierto, por el camino, después que hubieron salido de Egipto, no estaba circuncidado. 6 Porque los hijos de Israel anduvieron por el desierto cuarenta años, hasta que todos los hombres de guerra que habían salido de Egipto fueron consumidos, por cuanto no obedecieron a la voz de Jehová; por lo cual Jehová les juró que no les dejaría ver la tierra de la cual Jehová había jurado a sus padres que nos la daría, tierra que fluye leche y miel.(A) 7 A los hijos de ellos, que él había hecho suceder en su lugar, Josué los circuncidó; pues eran incircuncisos, porque no habían sido circuncidados por el camino.
8 Y cuando acabaron de circuncidar a toda la gente, se quedaron en el mismo lugar en el campamento, hasta que sanaron. 9 Y Jehová dijo a Josué: Hoy he quitado de vosotros el oprobio de Egipto; por lo cual el nombre de aquel lugar fue llamado Gilgal,[b] hasta hoy.
10 Y los hijos de Israel acamparon en Gilgal, y celebraron la pascua(B) a los catorce días del mes, por la tarde, en los llanos de Jericó. 11 Al otro día de la pascua comieron del fruto de la tierra, los panes sin levadura, y en el mismo día espigas nuevas tostadas. 12 Y el maná cesó(C) el día siguiente, desde que comenzaron a comer del fruto de la tierra; y los hijos de Israel nunca más tuvieron maná, sino que comieron de los frutos de la tierra de Canaán aquel año.
Josué y el varón con la espada desenvainada
13 Estando Josué cerca de Jericó, alzó sus ojos y vio un varón que estaba delante de él, el cual tenía una espada desenvainada en su mano. Y Josué, yendo hacia él, le dijo: ¿Eres de los nuestros, o de nuestros enemigos? 14 Él respondió: No; mas como Príncipe del ejército de Jehová he venido ahora. Entonces Josué, postrándose sobre su rostro en tierra, le adoró; y le dijo: ¿Qué dice mi Señor a su siervo? 15 Y el Príncipe del ejército de Jehová respondió a Josué: Quita el calzado de tus pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo. Y Josué así lo hizo.
