The Commander of the Lord's Army

¹³ When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, ^(A)a man was standing before him ^(B)with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?”

² He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. ^(A)When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth

²³ And the donkey saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road, with a drawn sword in his hand. And the donkey turned aside out of the road and went into the field. And Balaam struck the donkey, to turn her into the road.

³¹ Then the Lord ^(A)opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, with his drawn sword in his hand. And he bowed down and fell on his face.

³⁰ but David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid of the sword of the angel of the Lord.

^5 (A)I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, ^(B)a man clothed in linen, ^(C)with a belt of fine ^(D)gold from Uphaz around his waist.

^23 (A)“When my angel goes before you and brings you ^(B)to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I blot them out,

¹⁰ And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, ^(A)two ^(B)men stood by them in ^(C)white robes,

⁸ “I saw in the night, and behold, ^(A)a man riding on a red horse! He was standing among the myrtle trees in the glen, and behind him were ^(B)red, sorrel, and white horses.
