19 And I saw (A)the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies (B)gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. 20 And the beast was captured, and with it (C)the false prophet (D)who in its presence[a] had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who (E)worshiped its image. These two were (F)thrown alive into the lake of (G)fire that burns with sulfur. 21 And the rest were slain by the sword (H)that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and (I)all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

11 and say, ‘I will go up against (A)the land of unwalled villages. I will fall upon (B)the quiet people who dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having no bars or gates,’ 12 to seize spoil and carry off plunder, to turn your hand against (C)the waste places that are now inhabited, and (D)the people who were gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, (E)who dwell at the center of the earth. 13 (F)Sheba and (G)Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all (H)its leaders[a] will say to you, ‘Have you come to seize spoil? Have you assembled your hosts to carry off plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to seize great spoil?’

14 “Therefore, (I)son of man, prophesy, and say to (J)Gog, Thus says the Lord God: On that day when my people Israel are (K)dwelling securely, (L)will you not know it? 15 You will come from your place out of (M)the uttermost parts of the north, you and (N)many peoples with you, (O)all of them riding on horses, a great host, a mighty army. 16 You will come up against my people Israel, (P)like a cloud covering the land. (Q)In the latter days I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when through you, O Gog, (R)I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.

17 “Thus says the Lord God: Are you (S)he of whom I spoke in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel, who in those days prophesied for years that I would bring you against them? 18 But on that day, the day that Gog shall come against the land of Israel, declares the Lord God, (T)my wrath will be roused in my anger. 19 For (U)in my jealousy and in my blazing wrath I declare, On that day (V)there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 (W)The fish of the sea and the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the field and all creeping things that creep on the ground, and all the people who are on the face of the earth, (X)shall quake at my presence. And (Y)the mountains shall be thrown down, and the cliffs shall fall, and every wall shall tumble to the ground. 21 (Z)I will summon a sword against Gog[b] on all my mountains, declares the Lord God. (AA)Every man's sword will be against his brother. 22 With pestilence and bloodshed (AB)I will enter into judgment with him, and (AC)I will rain upon him and (AD)his hordes and the many peoples who are with him (AE)torrential rains and hailstones, (AF)fire and sulfur.

  1. Psalm 9:16 Probably a musical or liturgical term

36 So the people of Benjamin saw that they were defeated.

The men of Israel gave ground to Benjamin, because they trusted the men in ambush whom they had set against Gibeah. 37 (A)Then the men in ambush hurried and rushed against Gibeah; the men in ambush moved out and struck all the city with the edge of the sword. 38 Now the appointed signal between the men of Israel and the men in the main ambush was that when they made a great cloud of smoke rise up out of the city 39 the men of Israel should turn in battle. Now Benjamin had begun to strike and kill about thirty men of Israel. They said, (B)“Surely they are defeated before us, as in the first battle.”
