¹⁴ So when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan with the priests bearing ^(A)the ark of the covenant before the people,

⁴⁴ “Our fathers had ^(A)the tent of witness in the wilderness, just as he who spoke to Moses ^(B)directed him to make it, according to the pattern that he had seen. ⁴⁵ Our fathers in turn ^(C)brought it in with Joshua when they ^(D)dispossessed the nations ^(E)that God drove out before our fathers. So it was ^(F)until the days of David,

⁴ having the golden ^(A)altar of incense and ^(B)the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was ^(C)a golden urn holding the manna, and ^(D)Aaron's staff that budded, and ^(E)the tablets of the covenant.

²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ ^(A)the power of God and ^(B)the wisdom of God. ²⁵ For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

¹⁶ And when you have multiplied and been fruitful in the land, in those days, declares the Lord, they shall no more say, “The ark of the covenant of the Lord.” It shall not come to mind or be remembered or missed; it shall not be made again.

⁶ So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the Lord.”

⁶ And Joshua said to the priests, ^(A)“Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on before the people.” So they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people.

³ and commanded the people, “As soon as you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God being carried by ^(A)the Levitical priests, then you shall set out from your place and follow it.

²⁶ “Take this Book of the Law ^(A)and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for ^(B)a witness against you.
