14 So when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan with the priests bearing (A)the ark of the covenant before the people, 15 and as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and (B)the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now (C)the Jordan overflows all its banks (D)throughout the time of harvest), 16 the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away, at Adam, the city that is beside (E)Zarethan, and those flowing down toward the Sea of (F)the Arabah, (G)the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over opposite Jericho. 17 Now the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firmly on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, (H)and all Israel was passing over on dry ground until all the nation finished passing over the Jordan.

14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant(A) went ahead(B) of them. 15 Now the Jordan(C) is at flood stage(D) all during harvest.(E) Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing.(F) It piled up in a heap(G) a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan,(H) while the water flowing down(I) to the Sea of the Arabah(J) (that is, the Dead Sea(K)) was completely cut off.(L) So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.(M) 17 The priests(N) who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground,(O) while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.(P)

And he said to the people, “Go forward. March around the city and let (A)the armed men pass on before the ark of the Lord.”

And just as Joshua had commanded the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before the Lord went forward, blowing the trumpets, with the ark of the covenant of the Lord following them. The armed men were walking before the priests who were blowing the trumpets, and the (B)rear guard was walking after the ark, while the trumpets blew continually. 10 But Joshua commanded the people, “You shall not shout or make your voice heard, neither shall any word go out of your mouth, until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.” 11 So he caused the ark of the Lord to circle the city, going about it once. And they came into the camp and spent the night in the camp.

And he ordered the army, “Advance(A)! March around the city, with an armed guard going ahead of the ark(B) of the Lord.”

When Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets before the Lord went forward, blowing their trumpets, and the ark of the Lord’s covenant followed them. The armed guard marched ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard(C) followed the ark. All this time the trumpets were sounding. 10 But Joshua had commanded the army, “Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!(D) 11 So he had the ark of the Lord carried around the city, circling it once. Then the army returned to camp and spent the night there.

33 All the Israelites, with their elders, officials and judges, were standing on both sides of the ark of the covenant of the Lord, facing the Levitical(A) priests who carried it. Both the foreigners living among them and the native-born(B) were there. Half of the people stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal,(C) as Moses the servant of the Lord had formerly commanded when he gave instructions to bless the people of Israel.
