⁶ So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, ^(A)call out to your god! ^(B)Perhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish.”

^9 (A)Who knows? God may turn and relent ^(B)and turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.”

²² He said, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, ^(A)‘Who knows whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’

¹⁴ for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,

¹³ Then Paul answered, ^(A)“What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For ^(B)I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem ^(C)for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

³⁷ And a great windstorm arose, and the waves ^(A)were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. ³⁸ But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” ³⁹ And he awoke and ^(B)rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and ^(C)there was a great calm. ⁴⁰ He said to them, “Why are you ^(D)so afraid? Have you still no faith?” ⁴¹ And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, ^(E)“Who then is this, that even ^(F)the wind and the sea obey him?”
