¹⁵ So they picked up Jonah and hurled him into the sea, ^(A)and the sea ceased from its raging.

²⁴ And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and ^(A)rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, ^(B)and there was a calm.

²⁴ And Joshua and all Israel with him took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver and the cloak and the bar of gold, and his sons and daughters and his oxen and donkeys and sheep and his tent and all that he had. And they brought them up to the ^(A)Valley of Achor. ²⁵ And Joshua said, “Why did you ^(B)bring trouble on us? The Lord brings trouble on you today.” And all Israel ^(C)stoned him with stones. ^(D)They burned them with fire and stoned them with stones. ²⁶ And they raised over him ^(E)a great heap of stones that remains to this day. Then ^(F)the Lord turned from his burning anger. Therefore, to this day the name of that place is called the Valley of Achor.^[a]

²⁶ And he said to them, “Why are you ^(A)afraid, ^(B)O you of little faith?” Then he rose and ^(C)rebuked the winds and the sea, and ^(D)there was a great calm.

⁸ The king took the two sons of ^(A)Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Merab^[a] the daughter of Saul, whom ^(B)she bore to ^(C)Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite; ⁹ and he gave them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before the Lord, and the seven of them perished together. They were put to death in the first days of harvest, ^(D)at the beginning of barley harvest.
