⁴³ I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.

²⁵ Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. ^(A)The works that I do in My Father’s name, they ^(B)bear witness of Me.

^4 (A)I have glorified You on the earth. ^(B)I have finished the work ^(C)which You have given Me to do. ⁵ And now, O Father, glorify Me together ^[a]with Yourself, with the glory ^(D)which I had with You before the world was.

Jesus Prays for His Disciples

^6 (E)“I have ^[b]manifested Your name to the men ^(F)whom You have given Me out of the world. ^(G)They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

²⁸ Then Jesus said to them, “When you ^(A)lift^[a] up the Son of Man, ^(B)then you will know that I am He, and ^(C)that I do nothing of Myself; but ^(D)as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. ²⁹ And ^(E)He who sent Me is with Me. ^(F)The Father has not left Me alone, ^(G)for I always do those things that please Him.”

³⁸ For I have come down from heaven, ^(A)not to do My own will, ^(B)but the will of Him who sent Me.

⁵ For ^(A)many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ ^(B)and will deceive many.

⁴ And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as ^(A)Aaron was.

A Priest Forever

^5 (B)So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him:

³⁶ For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, ^[a]joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing. ³⁷ After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed.

²⁸ Father, glorify Your name.”

^(A)Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
