Jesus’ Equality with the Father

¹⁸ For this reason therefore ^(A)the Jews ^(B)were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, ^(C)making Himself equal with God.

⁵³ Surely You ^(A)are not greater than our father Abraham who died? The prophets died too; whom do You make Yourself out to be?”

³³ The Jews answered Him, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for ^(A)blasphemy; and because You, being a man, ^(B)make Yourself God.”

⁷ The Jews answered him, “^(A)We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He ^(B)made Himself out to be the Son of God.”

¹² As a result of this Pilate kept seeking to release Him, but the Jews cried out saying, “^(A)If you release this man, you are no friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself to be a king ^[a]opposes Caesar.”

^10 (A)If we say that we have not sinned, we ^(B)make Him a liar and ^(C)His word is not in us.

¹⁰ The one who believes in the Son of God ^(A)has this witness in himself. The one who does not believe God has ^(B)made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness which God has borne witness about His Son.
