¹⁷ In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father^(A) is always at his work^(B) to this very day, and I too am working.”

¹⁰ Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?^(A) The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority.^(B) Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

⁴ As long as it is day,^(A) we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

¹⁶ For in him all things were created:^(A) things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;^(B) all things have been created through him and for him.^(C)

⁶ There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone^(A) it is the same God^(B) at work.

³ The Son is the radiance of God’s glory^(A) and the exact representation of his being,^(B) sustaining all things^(C) by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins,^(D) he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.^(E)

²⁸ ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’^[a](A) As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’^[b]

¹⁷ Yet he has not left himself without testimony:^(A) He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons;^(B) he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”^(C)
