³⁸ I sent you to reap ^(A)that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, ^(B)and you have entered into their labor.”

⁷ He came as a ^(A)witness, to bear witness about the light, ^(B)that all might believe through him.

¹⁴ Now when ^(A)the apostles at Jerusalem heard that ^(B)Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, ¹⁵ who came down and prayed for them ^(C)that they might receive the Holy Spirit, ¹⁶ for ^(D)he had not yet ^(E)fallen on any of them, but ^(F)they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. ¹⁷ Then ^(G)they laid their hands on them and ^(H)they received the Holy Spirit.

¹⁵ The Lord, the God of their fathers, ^(A)sent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place.

¹¹ inquiring ^(A)what person or time^{[a] (B)}the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating ^(C)when he predicted ^(D)the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. ^12 (E)It was revealed to them that ^(F)they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you ^(G)by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, ^(H)things into which angels long to look.

⁴² And ^(A)he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify ^(B)that he is the one appointed by God to be judge ^(C)of the living and the dead. ^43 (D)To him ^(E)all the prophets bear witness that ^(F)everyone who believes in him receives ^(G)forgiveness of sins ^(H)through his name.”

³⁷ you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, ^(A)beginning ^(B)from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: ³⁸ how ^(C)God anointed Jesus of Nazareth ^(D)with the Holy Spirit and with ^(E)power. He went about doing good and healing all ^(F)who were oppressed by the devil, ^(G)for God was with him.

Philip Proclaims Christ in Samaria

⁴ Now ^(A)those who were scattered went about preaching the word. ^5 (B)Philip went down to the city^[a] of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ. ^6 (C)And the crowds with one accord paid attention to what was being said by Philip, when they heard him ^(D)and saw the signs that he did. ⁷ For ^(E)unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. ⁸ So ^(F)there was much joy in that city.

⁷ And ^(A)the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests ^(B)became obedient to ^(C)the faith.
