12 After this He went down to (A)Capernaum, He, His mother, (B)His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days.

Jesus Cleanses the Temple(C)

13 (D)Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 (E)And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers [a]doing business. 15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. 16 And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make (F)My Father’s house a house of merchandise!” 17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, (G)“Zeal for Your house [b]has eaten Me up.”

18 So the Jews answered and said to Him, (H)“What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?”

19 Jesus answered and said to them, (I)“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

20 Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?”

21 But He was speaking (J)of the temple of His body. 22 Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, (K)His disciples remembered that He had said this [c]to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.

The Discerner of Hearts

23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the (L)signs which He did. 24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He (M)knew all men, 25 and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for (N)He knew what was in man.

13 (A)No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man [a]who is in heaven. 14 (B)And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so (C)must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever (D)believes in Him should [b]not perish but (E)have eternal life. 16 (F)For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten (G)Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 (H)For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 (I)“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, (J)that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For (K)everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been (L)done in God.”
