Jesus Is Buried
38 (A)Now after these things Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but (B)secretly because of his (C)fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. So he came and took away His body. 39 (D)And Nicodemus, who had first come to Him by night, also came, (E)bringing a [a]mixture of (F)myrrh and aloes, weighing about [b]one (G)hundred litras. 40 So they took the body of Jesus and (H)bound it in (I)linen wrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a (J)new tomb (K)in which no one had yet been laid. 42 Therefore because of the Jewish day of (L)Preparation, since the tomb was (M)nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Jesus’ Burial
38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to let him remove Jesus’ body. When Pilate gave him permission, he came and took Jesus’ body away. 39 Nicodemus, who earlier had come to Jesus at night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-two pounds.[a]
40 They took Jesus’ body and bound it with linen strips along with the spices, in accord with Jewish burial customs.
41 There was a garden at the place where Jesus was crucified. And in the garden was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. 42 So they laid Jesus there, because it was the Jewish Preparation Day, and the tomb was near.
