Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb(A)
38 (B)After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, (C)for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus. 39 And (D)Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of (E)myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 Then they took the body of Jesus, and (F)bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So (G)there they laid Jesus, (H)because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, for the tomb was nearby.
The Empty Tomb(I)
20 Now the (J)first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the (K)stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the (L)other disciple, (M)whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”
3 (N)Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. 4 So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. 5 And he, stooping down and looking in, saw (O)the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and (P)the [a]handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. 8 Then the (Q)other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed. 9 For as yet they did not [b]know the (R)Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

7 και το σουδαριον ο ην επι της κεφαλης αυτου ου μετα των οθονιων κειμενον αλλα χωρις εντετυλιγμενον εις ενα τοπον
8 τοτε ουν εισηλθεν και ο αλλος μαθητης ο ελθων πρωτος εις το μνημειον και ειδεν και επιστευσεν
9 ουδεπω γαρ ηδεισαν την γραφην οτι δει αυτον εκ νεκρων αναστηναι

38 And after these things did Joseph of Arimathea -- being a disciple of Jesus, but concealed, through the fear of the Jews -- ask of Pilate, that he may take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave leave; he came, therefore, and took away the body of Jesus,
39 and Nicodemus also came -- who came unto Jesus by night at the first -- bearing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, as it were, a hundred pounds.
40 They took, therefore, the body of Jesus, and bound it with linen clothes with the spices, according as it was the custom of the Jews to prepare for burial;
41 and there was in the place where he was crucified a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one was yet laid;
42 there, therefore, because of the preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was nigh, they laid Jesus.
20 And on the first of the sabbaths, Mary the Magdalene doth come early (there being yet darkness) to the tomb, and she seeth the stone having been taken away out of the tomb,
2 she runneth, therefore, and cometh unto Simon Peter, and unto the other disciple whom Jesus was loving, and saith to them, `They took away the Lord out of the tomb, and we have not known where they laid him.'
3 Peter, therefore, went forth, and the other disciple, and they were coming to the tomb,
4 and the two were running together, and the other disciple did run forward more quickly than Peter, and came first to the tomb,
5 and having stooped down, seeth the linen clothes lying, yet, indeed, he entered not.
6 Simon Peter, therefore, cometh, following him, and he entered into the tomb, and beholdeth the linen clothes lying,
7 and the napkin that was upon his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but apart, having been folded up, in one place;
8 then, therefore, entered also the other disciple who came first unto the tomb, and he saw, and did believe;
9 for not yet did they know the Writing, that it behoveth him out of the dead to rise again.

So he came and took away His body. 39 (D)Nicodemus, who had first come to Him by night, also came, (E)bringing a [b]mixture of (F)myrrh and aloes, about a [c](G)hundred litras weight. 40 So they took the body of Jesus and (H)bound it in (I)linen wrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden was a (J)new tomb (K)in which no one had yet been laid. 42 Therefore because of the Jewish day of (L)preparation, since the tomb was (M)nearby, they laid Jesus there.
