⁴ Then Jesus, ^(A)knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, ^(B)“Whom do you seek?”

Jesus Washes the Disciples' Feet

13 Now ^(A)before ^(B)the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that ^(C)his hour had come ^(D)to depart out of this world to the Father, ^(E)having loved ^(F)his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

⁷ So he asked them again, ^(A)“Whom do you seek?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

²⁴ And when they heard it, they lifted their voices ^(A)together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, ^(B)who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, ²⁵ who through the mouth of our father David, your servant,^[a] said by the Holy Spirit,

²⁷ for truly in this city there were gathered together against your ^(F)holy servant Jesus, ^(G)whom you anointed, both ^(H)Herod and ^(I)Pontius Pilate, along ^(J)with the Gentiles and ^(K)the peoples of Israel, ^28 (L)to do whatever your hand and ^(M)your plan had predestined to take place.

Stewards of God's Grace

4 Since therefore ^(A)Christ suffered in the flesh,^{[a] (B)}arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for ^(C)whoever has suffered in the flesh ^(D)has ceased from sin,

²² And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained ^(A)by^[a] the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there, ²³ except that ^(B)the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that ^(C)imprisonment and ^(D)afflictions await me.

The Death of Jesus

²⁸ After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now ^(A)finished, said (^(B)to fulfill the Scripture), ^(C)“I thirst.”
