Jesus Prays to Be Glorified
17 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven(A) and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come.(B) Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.(C) 2 For you granted him authority over all people(D) that he might give eternal life(E) to all those you have given him.(F) 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you,(G) the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.(H) 4 I have brought you glory(I) on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.(J) 5 And now, Father, glorify me(K) in your presence with the glory I had with you(L) before the world began.(M)

6 “I have revealed you[a](N) to those whom you gave me(O) out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me(P) and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you,(Q) and they believed that you sent me.(R) 9 I pray for them.(S) I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me,(T) for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine.(U) And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world,(V) and I am coming to you.(W) Holy Father, protect them by the power of[b] your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one(X) as we are one.(Y) 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by[c] that name you gave me. None has been lost(Z) except the one doomed to destruction(AA) so that Scripture would be fulfilled.(AB)
13 “I am coming to you now,(AC) but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy(AD) within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them,(AE) for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.(AF) 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.(AG) 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.(AH) 17 Sanctify them by[d] the truth; your word is truth.(AI) 18 As you sent me into the world,(AJ) I have sent them into the world.(AK) 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.(AL)
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one,(AM) Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.(AN) May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.(AO) 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me,(AP) that they may be one as we are one(AQ)— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me(AR) and have loved them(AS) even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me(AT) to be with me where I am,(AU) and to see my glory,(AV) the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.(AW)
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you,(AX) I know you, and they know that you have sent me.(AY) 26 I have made you[e] known to them,(AZ) and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them(BA) and that I myself may be in them.”

4 Jag har förhärligat dig på jorden, genom att fullborda det verk som du har givit mig att utföra.
5 Och nu, Fader, förhärliga du mig hos dig själv, med den härlighet som jag hade hos dig, förrän världen var till.
6 Jag har uppenbarat ditt namn för de människor som du har tagit ut ur världen och givit åt mig. De voro dina, och du har givit dem åt mig, och de hava hållit ditt ord.

11 Jag är nu icke längre kvar i världen, men de äro kvar i världen, när jag går till dig. Helige Fader, bevara dem i ditt namn -- det som du har förtrott åt mig -- för att de må vara ett, likasom vi äro ett.
12 Medan jag var hos dem, bevarade jag dem i ditt namn, det som du har förtrott åt mig; jag vakade över dem, och ingen av dem gick i fördärvet, ingen utom fördärvets man, ty skriften skulle ju fullbordas.
13 Nu går jag till tid; dock talar jag detta, medan jag ännu är här i världen, för att de skola hava min glädje fullkomlig i sig.
14 Jag har givit dem ditt ord; och världen har hatat dem, eftersom de icke äro av världen, likasom icke heller jag är av världen.
15 Jag beder icke att du skall taga dem bort ur världen, utan att du skall bevara dem från det onda.
16 De äro icke av världen, likasom icke heller jag är av världen.
17 Helga dem i sanningen; ditt ord är sanning.
18 Såsom du har sänt mig i världen, så har ock jag sänt dem i världen.
19 Och jag helgar mig till ett offer för dem, på det att ock de må vara i sanning helgade.
20 Men icke för dessa allenast beder jag, utan ock för dem som genom deras ord komma till tro på mig;
21 jag beder att de alla må vara ett, och att, såsom du, Fader, är i mig, och jag i dig, också de må vara i oss, för att världen skall tro att du har sänt mig.
22 Och den härlighet som du har givit mig, den har jag givit åt dem, för att de skola vara ett, såsom vi äro ett
23 -- jag i dem, och du i mig -- ja, för att de skola vara fullkomligt förenade till ett, så att världen kan förstå att du har sänt mig, och att du har älskat dem, såsom du har älskat mig.
24 Fader, jag vill att där jag är, där skola ock de som du har givit mig vara med mig, så att de få se min härlighet, som du har givit mig; ty du har älskat mig före världens begynnelse.
25 Rättfärdige Fader, världen har icke lärt känna dig, men jag känner dig, och dessa hava förstått att du har sänt mig.
26 Och jag har kungjort för dem ditt namn och skall kungöra det, på det att den kärlek, som du har älskat mig med, må vara i dem, och jag i dem.»

(Q)I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10 And all Mine are Yours, and (R)Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 (S)Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, (T)keep[d] through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one (U)as We are. 12 While I was with them [e]in the world, (V)I kept them in [f]Your name. 20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [j]will believe in Me through their word; 21 (AG)that they all may be one, as (AH)You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the (AI)glory which You gave Me I have given them, (AJ)that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; (AK)that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
24 (AL)“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; (AM)for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father! (AN)The world has not known You, but (AO)I have known You; and (AP)these have known that You sent Me. 26 (AQ)And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love (AR)with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

The High Priestly Prayer
