15 All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
Sorrow Will Turn into Joy
16 “A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me.” 17 Then some of his disciples said to one another, “What does he mean by saying to us, ‘A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’; and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?” 18 They said, “What does he mean by this ‘a little while’? We do not know what he is talking about.” 19 Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, “Are you discussing among yourselves what I meant when I said, ‘A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’? 20 Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy. 21 When a woman is in labor, she has pain, because her hour has come. But when her child is born, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy of having brought a human being into the world. 22 So you have pain now; but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. 23 On that day you will ask nothing of me.[a] Very truly, I tell you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.[b]

17 Allora alcuni dei suoi discepoli dissero tra di loro: «Che cos’è questo che ci dice: “Tra poco non mi vedrete più” e: “Tra un altro poco mi vedrete” e: “Perché vado al Padre”?» 18 Dicevano dunque: «Che cos’è questo “tra poco” {che egli dice}? Noi non sappiamo quello che egli voglia dire».
19 Gesù comprese che volevano interrogarlo e disse loro: «Voi vi domandate l’un l’altro che cosa significano quelle mie parole: “Tra poco non mi vedrete più” e: “Tra un altro poco mi vedrete”? 20 In verità, in verità vi dico che voi piangerete e farete cordoglio, e il mondo si rallegrerà. Sarete rattristati, ma la vostra tristezza sarà cambiata in gioia. 21 La donna, quando partorisce, prova dolore perché è venuta la sua ora; ma quando ha dato alla luce il bambino, non si ricorda più dell’angoscia, per la gioia che sia venuta al mondo una creatura umana. 22 Così anche voi siete ora nel dolore; ma io vi vedrò di nuovo e il vostro cuore si rallegrerà, e nessuno vi toglierà la vostra gioia. 23 In quel giorno non mi rivolgerete alcuna domanda. 16 Noch eine kurze Zeit, und ihr werdet mich nicht sehen, und wiederum eine kurze Zeit, und ihr werdet mich sehen; denn ich gehe zum Vater.
17 Da sprachen etliche seiner Jünger zueinander: Was bedeutet das, dass er sagt: Noch eine kurze Zeit, und ihr werdet mich nicht sehen, und wiederum eine kurze Zeit, und ihr werdet mich sehen, und: Ich gehe zum Vater?
18 Deshalb sagten sie: Was bedeutet das, dass er sagt: Noch eine kurze Zeit? Wir wissen nicht, was er redet!

20 Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Ihr werdet weinen und wehklagen, aber die Welt wird sich freuen; und ihr werdet trauern, doch eure Traurigkeit soll in Freude verwandelt werden.
21 Wenn eine Frau gebiert, so hat sie Traurigkeit, weil ihre Stunde gekommen ist; wenn sie aber das Kind geboren hat, denkt sie nicht mehr an die Angst, um der Freude willen, dass ein Mensch in die Welt geboren ist.
22 So habt auch ihr nun Traurigkeit; ich werde euch aber wiedersehen, und dann wird euer Herz sich freuen, und niemand soll eure Freude von euch nehmen.
23 Und an jenem Tag werdet ihr mich nichts fragen. Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Was auch immer ihr den Vater bitten werdet in meinem Namen, er wird es euch geben!

19 Jézus tudta, hogy meg akarják kérdezni, ezért ő kérdezte meg tőlük: „Arról tanakodtok, hogy mit jelent, amit mondtam: »Még egy kis idő, és nem láttok engem, azután hamarosan ismét megláttok?« 20 Igazán mondom nektek: akkor majd sírtok és jajgattok, a hitetlenek ellenben örülnek. 15 Tout ce que le Père possède m’appartient à moi aussi ; voilà pourquoi je vous dis qu’il puisera dans ce qui est à moi et vous l’annoncera. 16 Dans peu de temps, vous ne me verrez plus ; puis encore un peu de temps, et vous me reverrez.
La tristesse des disciples sera changée en joie
17 Certains de ses disciples se demandèrent alors entre eux : Qu’est-ce qu’il veut nous dire par là : « Dans peu de temps, vous ne me verrez plus ; encore un peu de temps, et vous me reverrez » ? Et aussi lorsqu’il affirme : « Je vais au Père » ?
18 Ils ajoutèrent : Que signifie ce « peu de temps » dont il parle ? Nous ne voyons pas ce qu’il veut dire.
19 Jésus comprit qu’ils voulaient l’interroger ; il leur dit : Vous êtes en train de vous demander entre vous ce que j’ai voulu dire par ces mots : « Dans peu de temps, vous ne me verrez plus ; encore un peu de temps, et vous me reverrez. » 20 Vraiment, je vous l’assure, vous allez pleurer et vous lamenter, tandis que les gens de ce monde jubileront. Vous serez accablés de douleur, mais votre douleur se changera en joie. 21 Lorsqu’une femme accouche, elle éprouve de la douleur parce que c’est le moment ; mais à peine a-t-elle donné le jour au bébé, qu’elle oublie son épreuve à cause de sa joie d’avoir mis au monde un enfant. 22 Vous, de même, vous êtes maintenant dans la douleur, mais je vous verrai de nouveau : alors votre cœur sera rempli de joie, et cette joie, personne ne pourra vous l’enlever. 23 Quand ce jour viendra, vous ne me poserez plus aucune question.
