15 I am a very vine, and my Father is an earth-tiller.
2 Each branch in me that beareth not fruit, he shall take away it [he shall do it away]; and each that beareth fruit, he shall purge it, that it bear the more fruit [that it bear more fruit].
3 Now ye be clean, for the word that I have spoken to you.
4 Dwell ye in me, and I in you; as a branch may not make fruit of itself, but it dwell in the vine, so neither ye, but ye dwell in me.
5 I am the vine, ye be the branches. Who that dwelleth in me, and I in him, this beareth much fruit, for without me, ye be able to nothing do.[a]
6 If any man dwelleth not in me, he shall be cast out as a branch, and shall wax dry; and they shall gather him, and they shall cast him into the fire, and he shall burn [and he burneth].
7 If ye dwell in me, and my words dwell in you, whatever thing ye will [whatever thing ye shall desire], ye shall ask, and it shall be done to you.
8 In this thing my Father is clarified, that ye bring forth full much fruit, and that ye be made my disciples.
9 As my Father loved me, I have loved you; dwell ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall dwell in my love; as I have kept the commandments of my Father, and dwell in his love.
11 These things I spake to you, that my joy be in you, and your joy be full-filled [and your joy be filled].
12 This is my commandment, that ye love together, as I have loved you.
13 No man hath more love than this, that a man put his life for his friends.
14 Ye be my friends if ye do those things, that I command to you.
15 Now I shall not call you servants, for the servant knoweth not, what his lord shall do; but I have called you friends, for all things whatever I heard of my Father, I have made known to you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I chose you; and I have put you [and put you], that ye go, and bring forth fruit, and your fruit dwell; that whatever thing ye [shall] ask the Father in my name, he give to you.
17 These things I command to you, that ye love together.
18 If the world hate you, know ye, that it had me in hate rather than you [know ye, for it had me in hate first than you].
19 If ye had been of the world, the world should love that thing that was his; but for ye be not of the world, but I chose you from the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Have ye mind of my word, which I said to you [that I said to you], The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have pursued me, they shall pursue you also; if they have kept my word, they shall keep yours also.
21 But they shall do to you all these things for my name, for they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come, and had not spoken to them, they should not have sin; but now they have none excusation of their sin [forsooth now they have not excusing of their sin].
23 He that hateth me, hateth also my Father.
24 If I had not done the works in them, which none other man did, they should not have sin; but now both they have seen, and hated/have hated me and my Father.
25 But that the word be fulfilled, that is written in their law, For they had me in hate without cause.
26 But when the comforter shall come, which I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, which cometh forth of the Father [which proceedeth, or cometh forth, of the Father], he shall bear witnessing of me;
27 and ye shall bear witnessing, for ye be with me from the beginning.

15 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch that does not bear fruit in me, he will take away. And every branch that bears fruit he will prune, so that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now you are clean through the words that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and let me abide in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, no more can you unless you abide in me.
5 I am the vine and you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit. 12 This is my commandment: that you love together, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love than this has no man, than to bestow his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth I do not call you servants, for the servant knows not what his lord does, but I have called you friends. For all that I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you.
16 You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should endure; that whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he should give it to you.
17 This I command you: love one another. 18 If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. However because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the saying that I said to you: the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, so will they persecute you. If they have kept my sayings, so will they keep yours. 21 But they will do all these things to you for my name’s sake, because they have not known him who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin. - John 15:1 We are of nature dry and fit for nothing but the fire: Therefore that we may live and be fruitful, we must first be grafted into Christ, as it were into a vine by the Father’s hand: and then be daily shred with a continual meditation of the word and the cross; otherwise it shall not avail any man at all to have been grafted, unless he cleave fast unto the vine, and so draw juice out of it.
- John 15:7 He abideth in Christ, which resteth in his doctrine, and therefore bringeth forth good fruit: And the Father will deny such an one nothing.
- John 15:8 As who would say, Herein shall my Father be glorified, and herein also shall you be my disciples, if you bring forth much fruit.
- John 15:9 The love of the Father towards the Son, and of the Son towards us, and ours towards God and our neighbor, are joined together with an inseparable knot: and there is nothing more sweet and pleasant than it is. Now this love showeth itself by its effects: a most perfect example whereof, Christ himself exhibited unto us.

- John 15:15 The doctrine of the Gospel (as it is uttered by Christ’s own mouth) is a most perfect and absolute declaration of the counsel of God, which pertaineth to our salvation, and is committed unto the Apostles.
- John 15:16 Christ is the author and preserver of the ministry of the Gospel, even to the world’s end, but the ministers have above all things need of prayer and brotherly love.
- John 15:16 This place teacheth us plainly, that our salvation cometh from the only favor and gracious goodness of the everlasting God towards us, and of nothing that we do or can deserve.
- John 15:18 It ought not only not to fear, but rather confirm the faithful ministers of Christ, when they shall be hated of the world as their Master was.
- John 15:21 The hatred that the world beareth against Christ, proceedeth of the blockishness of the mind, which notwithstanding is voluntary blind, so that the world can pretend no excuse to cover their fault.
- John 15:22 As who would say, If I had not come, these men would not have stuck to have said still before God’s judgment seat, that they are religious, and void of sin: but seeing I came to them, and they clean refuse me, they can have no cloak for their wickedness.
- John 15:25 Sometime by this word, Law, are meant the five books of Moses, but in this place, the whole Scripture: for the place alleged is in the Psalms.
- John 15:26 Against the rage of the wicked, we shall stand surely by the inward testimony of the holy Ghost: But the holy Ghost speaketh no otherwise, than he spake by the mouth of the Apostles.
