Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial

³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” ^(A)Jesus answered him, “Where I am going ^(B)you cannot follow me now, ^(C)but you will follow afterward.”

^14 (A)since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, ^(B)as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.

²¹ When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” ²² Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain ^(A)until ^(B)I come, what is that to you? ^(C)You follow me!”

^18 (A)Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, ^(B)you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” ¹⁹ (This he said to show ^(C)by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, ^(D)“Follow me.”

³³ Little children, ^(A)yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just ^(B)as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’

¹⁷ So ^(A)some of his disciples said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ^(B)‘A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’; and, ^(C)‘because I am going to the Father’?”

² In ^(A)my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that ^(B)I go to prepare a place for you?^[a]

⁴ And you know the way to where I am going.”^{[a] 5 (A)}Thomas said to him, “Lord, ^(B)we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
