^23 (A)One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining at table ^(B)at Jesus' side,^[a]

⁷ That disciple ^(A)whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, ^(B)he put on his outer garment, for he was ^(C)stripped for work, and ^(D)threw himself into the sea.

² So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, ^(A)the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and ^(B)we do not know where they have laid him.”

²⁶ When Jesus saw his mother and ^(A)the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, ^(B)“Woman, behold, your son!”

²⁰ Peter turned and saw ^(A)the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, ^(B)the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?”

^16 (A)In his right hand he held seven stars, ^(B)from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and ^(C)his face was like the sun shining ^(D)in full strength.

^17 (E)When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But ^(F)he laid his right hand on me, ^(G)saying, “Fear not, ^(H)I am the first and the last, ¹⁸ and the living one. ^(I)I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and ^(J)I have the keys of Death and Hades.

³⁶ So the Jews said, “See ^(A)how he loved him!”

⁵ Now ^(A)Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

³ So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, ^(A)he whom you love is ill.”
