¹⁷ If you know these things, ^(A)blessed are you if you do them.

²⁸ But he said, ^(A)“Blessed rather are those ^(B)who hear the word of God and ^(C)keep it!”

^17 (A)So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

²⁵ But the one who looks into the perfect law, ^(A)the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, ^(B)he will be blessed in his doing.

Build Your House on the Rock

^24 (A)“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like ^(B)a wise man who built his house on the rock. ²⁵ And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

^27 (A)And I will put my Spirit within you, ^(B)and cause you to walk in my statutes and ^(C)be careful to obey my rules.^[a]

¹⁴ Blessed are those who ^(A)wash their robes,^[a] so that they may have the right to ^(B)the tree of life and that ^(C)they may enter the city by the gates.

^47 (A)And that servant who ^(B)knew his master's will but ^(C)did not get ready ^(D)or act according to his will, will receive a ^(E)severe beating. ^48 (F)But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, ^(G)will receive a light beating. ^(H)Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.
